Valid points, out of the four i'd say that I will need to stop doing the last 2 mistakes (I don't do the first two). I think I have biasness towards hot wheels, but i've been trying to switch to other brands sometimes like tomica and Matchbox. And for the last one, I genuinely was planning to get older castings if I see the new lineups for hot wheels are trash. I was searching the other day on FB marketplace.
First collecting, or would it be accumulating, should please the person doing it. If not sell what is not. Second collecting is usually thematic, you get to pick the theme. For example: US pre-1975, or hyper-cars or 1960s roadsters, or maybe just ones you wished you owned in 1:1 scale, or even some combination which serves as a limitation. Personally I think it is fine to buy a 5 pack for one vehicle and then give the rest to some kids (of any age). Don't collect these for future value, you'll be disappointed. This is all about enjoyment.
6:00 I'd like to add that many brands that aren't hot wheels are also way more expensive, so to call it a "mistake" to only buy from a single toy brand is kinda stupid. Sometimes people don't really have a choice if they want to be able to collect.
i should have put it as a tip rather than a mistake (thought others vids i have seen people consider it as a mistake so following that way i put it out there. though what i really meant was, if anyone wants to expand their collection bigger or isn't really satisfied with the quality of hotwheels, they can switch to other brands. Not necessarily it has to be a premium brand(eg majorette, tomica in particular) or, if anyone is preferring a more high quality diecast then. I'm pretty sure I did not say its a *must* to switch to a completely different brand already. at the end anyone is free to collect whatever they like. it was just said so that people can experience other brands and appreciate them 👍
You can also just save your money for something nicer. That way there wouldn't be too much need to limit yourself to only one brand (i.e. Hot Wheels). Plus you'll end up having more quality over quantity.
Buy what you like not what you see. Open, wheel swap and display. I see no point collecting if you can’t display.
that’s the point I was trying to say. at the end it’s better to collect what you really like
