I know life is very busy, but I have missed your videos, and planner spreads.

This is my first year using your budget planner. The more time I spend setting it up, the more I love it. XO

Hi Sara, lovely to see some budgeting videos again - sometimes one needs a bit of inspiration and motivation :-) I have a short "technical" question, though: How can an ongoing sinking fund be negative? As far as I get it, sinking funds are savings for future events (that may or may not actually happen), so when there are no savings left, why isn't there just a zero?

Great question! Basically a negative sinking fund means we saved less than what we needed for a future expense.
You can definitely choose to be strict with sinking funds and spend only what you have currently saved but that doesn’t work for us personally. After doing this for 8+ years I’ve realized the more flexible our budget is, the more we hit financials goals while still getting to enjoy our lives. And like I mentioned in the video, the negative balances typically get replenished the following month.
