14 years ago I lost my Father at the age of 56 to superior Vena cava syndrome. He was a smoker for 45 years of his life. I watched as his whole right arm swelled up like a ballon. I watched as his small chest veins became more and more pronounced through his skin. I watched as the skin on his right hand slowly started to split from the fluid backup in his right arm. I watched him slowly begin to gasp more and more for air as the lack of proper blood flow starved his body of oxygen. My father died after 3 months from his diagnosis. I say all this as a warning to those people out there who are smokers. If you are a smoker, you are playing a dangerous game of "Russian Roulette" with your health. I beg you. Please stop. You have no idea of the serious risks you are taking if you smoke. If you reap the horrific consequences of abusing your body from smoking, it may be too late. The brief suffering you get trying to break the habit is a very small price to pay compared to the unimaginable terror and suffering you will have if you get superior vena cava syndrome caused by lung cancer. Be warned people. Dont play stupid games with your health. QUIT SMOKING NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!
Ah yes...My mother had the same issue..basically noticed she was having facial sweilling when she woke up.. A month later, she literally looked like one of the "Bigheads" from Rockos Modern life. She was diagnosed a month later with small cell (the death sentence for all oncology) lung cancer. She was strong though, and lived three years..after chemo, radiation, even a bone marrow transplant (this was near the end of the STAMP trial)...she was doing okay, then one day, SLAM, dropped like a rock as she was trying to walk..CT Scan, tumor recurred and invading spinal cord. Died three weeks later. Will never forget, after she had brain radiation and was trying to walk straight, her saying "good lord, I didnt know smoking could do this to you" and the oncologist just gave sympathetic nod. BUT..somehow, people have it in their thick skulls "oh well, ya gotta die of something"... My dad to this day CANNOT watch someone smoke in front of him.
I think I have this. My right side of my face around my cheekbone area has been puffy for months. My right shoulder swells off and on. I have distended neck veins, ear fullness behind right ear, and 2 months ago I had my arms elevated braiding hair and my right hand swelled and then i started to have symptoms of a blood clot. I have weakness in right arm, numbness and distended arm and hand veins. I researched my arm anatomy, and it seems to be around the radial and ulnar area. I also have a bluish spot on my face that looks like a bruise and puffy eyes under both eyes. When I sleep elevated, the puffiness is not as bad in the morning. My vascular dr put me on blood thinners but then discovered during a CT Angiogram of my right upper extremity that I do not have any blood clots. Now she suspects TOS but after researching why one side of my face is swollen, I fear it could be this. I also have a swelling on my left upper chest wall right under my first rib. I had an MRI of chest with & without contrast and they said there was no mass seen but incidental protuberance of part of the chest that no dr seems concerned about). I still have no answers, the doctors say nothing notable was found. Why are all of these tests saying nothing is abnormal, yet I have all of these signs & symptoms?! I lost 42 lbs in 4 months unintentionally and I am scared I have cancer, but I have had CT and MRIs of head, chest, abdomen, & pelvis and they keep saying "I am fine." any input is appreciated, I am scared, and time is not on my side, as I have been steadily losing weight with bone pain, swollen lymph nodes (they say are too small and benign), neuropathy, & more for over a year.
@@happynappy thank you, I am still unwell and still undiagnosed. Not sure what is going on, I live in a small state with not the best hospitals so they are sending me to the next state over to their big, teaching hospital. They think I have auto immune disease, my kidneys have recently starting bleeding on top of all my other symptoms. I quit smoking 7 years ago!
Besides, I had tuberculosis three years ago and six have recovered without medication. But tell me how it is possible sir. How did my tuberculosis get better without medicine
Sir my home is Bangladesh my problem is shortness of breath. The doctor says that I am having difficulty breathing due to allergies. The inside of my chest itches. And he is saying the name of this disease is bronchial asthma and I want to know what is the permanent treatment of this disease. My IgE is 2700 and I am twenty
A lot of people have asthma when they were younger and then never have it but of course there is still a chance of you having it ;there is a chance anyone could have it whether he's had it as a child or not
@@Jess-wk5jo probably not, but you have a chance of getting it just like you have a chance of getting anything else so I don't think you should worry too much about it unless you're having signs
