    You're completely missing one key aspect. He used a third party software to get info on cards that weren't even played as well.
    Remember back when Joshua won a YCS with bystial Runick synchro and gave an example of people being afraid to imperm/veiler his cards while cartesia was on his field even though he didn't play gran. If someone leaked his deck list for that event I don't think he would have won. Him not playing a card people would expect him to be using out played all his opponents. It's not something that would be known anyway with how good he was at recycling cards back into his extra so people could never be 100% he didn't play the Gran even up to the finals. People still played around the possibility he played it

      They completely do see the point. I fully agree with Mkohl40s take about open vs closed decklist. Unless hand seeing cards become super super common I think an open decklist is fine, probably not for side decks but for main decks I don’t think it ruins enough decks to be a problem

    Integrity for a world championship, the highest level of competition all year, should always be players > viewers.
    Big part of the 3vs3 and shared card pools is deck building. A certain CC uploading decklists was as ass as could be. Not all decks were uploaded at the same time. Not all people have the time to check them between rounds. Some will get an edge, some wont (although i do believe that players at this level uphold their integrity themselves and not look it up).
    You dont rock up with deck to a tournament and tell your opponent i dont play handtraps when they are going first either.

    • @lrvalv8312
      @lrvalv8312 9 днів тому +1

      The integrity of a tournament is always in doubt. Sure releasing an open deck list during round 1 can help players on round 2. However, if integrity was kept the player who noticed this should bring it up with other players/staff. Konami is ultimately responsible to see possible outside influence with a tournament. Imo at the highest level like the world's open deck list is a net positive.

    • @coffeedudeable
      @coffeedudeable 9 днів тому +1

      @lrvalv8312 open deck list is only a positive if it's decided before hand.
      You can't change that after the decks are already decided. A lot of the lists were built around the fact that they could have an edge in particular matchups because they had to share a card pool across all 3 players on the team.
      No matter what you think is best, changing the plan mid event is fucked and should never happen

  • @darthscorn1
    @darthscorn1 9 днів тому +7

    Personally, I am in favor of open deck lists once you reach top cut in a tournament. Worlds is a more unique situation since an individual competitor is going to be more isolated environment than at the floor of a YCS, especially with Konami practically running worlds in a closed warehouse.
    But at a YCS, you have top level players who are on teams and may show up with 20+ other players. Once some of these others drop out, they can be sent to scout other top tables and decks looking for techs, watching their side decks during siding, etc. But if an unknown person does well and showed up with 3 friends, they don't have the resources to gather that information.
    In my opinion, having a network of other people willing to work for you is an advantage that is not related to gameplay and should not exist once you hit top cut.
    But, posting lists mid day 1 is not ok imo. I'd have liked to have seen that at the end of day 1.

    Are these decklists for Public View and Is Legal?
    If so:
    - Who is responsible for making these public?
    - Why is the playerbase suddenly up and up about moralilty when its apparently for public view done by those with higher power than the players?
    If not:
    - Why even is such a thing as publicly being able to have the ability to get those decklists allowed?
    - Who at the top is responsible for that failure in the system?
    - Why not speak more about those at the top first for failing before taking on the frustrations onto those at the bottom with you? Because Sponsor? Because you use the tool? If that tool is doing something illegal, why not report it before talking about morality?
    With regards to that one big guy with big influence, why are you acting all uppity and almighty? You got so into the business you forgot your morality? (Asking for a friend)

    I am unphased. The better players will win regardless, and the decklists become compiled by the end of round 2 to 3 anyway. This is the same energy as assuming that people don't know what their opponent is playing during Top 16 at a YCS. Not only do the better players know, but they know their side choices and everything. You only have the element of surprise during the first rounds. Do people not understand that there are secondary decks for this reason to have a mix-up on what they play? Unfortunately, the 2nd decks are usually throwaways.

    Here is the thing about Dkayed...Konami banned him for TCG related events already for 3 years for leaking stuff...but that did nothing because he hasn't played TCG in many years.
