  • Magic displaying his all-around excellence against the Golden State Warriors. Although he didn't shoot the ball particularly well in these games, Magic still contributed by getting his teammates involved and dominating the boards. This series marked the fourth time that he averaged a triple-double for an entire playoff series (most all-time) in his career. He's one of only five players (Oscar, Wilt, Fat Lever & Kidd being the others) to accomplish this feat in NBA history.
    Series Averages: 25.8 ppg, 10 rpg, 12.8 apg, .8 spg, .415% FG, .313% 3P

      @@OSDCrusher I'm a Celtics fan but even I gotta call bullshit on your comment. Bird had a great Bball IQ but Magic's court vision was unlike anything I have ever seen in this game. To this day there has been no one as good at the PG position.

      OSDCrusher Dude stop trolling. Seriously. You’re not making a shred of sense, instead you are proving my point for me. His court vision was great because he was 6’9”? So as long as you are at least 6’9” you have court vision like that? Where are all the other 6’9” players who run the point and have court vision like this? Think about it I’ll wait.

    Magic has a funky release on his 3. It went in, though! A lot of hard work put in. He, Larry, MJ, JW, Hakeem all worked to expand their games.

      Byron Scott has a history of being so called hurt when he knows the Lakers arent gonna win series
      Everyone has and excuse when they lose instead of just taking it like a man
      Bulls was gonna beat Lakers in 1991 any way you slice it
      Bulls better then Lakers 1991
      Jordan the best player in series and Lakers had nobody to stop him

    Why didn't he do that against Pippin this game was 1991 the same year the bulls beat the Lakers 4 to 1

    • @pebutts
      @pebutts Рік тому

      Probably because Pippen was possibly (and in my opinion is) the greatest defensive swingman in NBA history and the Bulls were one of the greatest defensive teams in NBA history.
      Magic averaged 19 points, 8 boards, and 12 assists against the Bulls, so it's not like he had a bad series. In fact other than Vlade he was the only bright spot. But the Lakers were a veteran team that was beat up by the time they got to the finals while the Bulls were young, healthy, athletic, and hungry.
      Worthy got hurt (sprained ankle) in the conference finals against the Blazers and although he tried his best wasn't himself in the finals. With Pippen on Magic, he normally would have been able to take advantage of the mismatches that created to score over Jordan or Paxson, but he couldn't. He looked stiff and slow, especially as the series moved to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Byron Scott had an absolutely terrible series by his standards, and like Worthy couldn't even play in the deciding game 5 after hurting his shoulder.
      With Worthy and Scott not playing well, the Bulls focused their defense on forcing Magic to work hard to even get the offense set up because they really weren't scared of any of the other Laker players offensively. Starting in game 2, the Bulls put Pippen on Johnson and basically dared any of the other Lakers to beat them. Nobody else was able to step up and the Bulls basically kept up the same game plan for the rest of the series. Honestly it's impressive that Magic was able to put up the numbers he did with the pressure they put on him.

    Too bad these Lakers would move on to the Finals only to lose to Jordan's Bulls in 5 games... but that would give Jordan his first ring anyway, while at that point Magic already had five.

    It's a travesty that LeBron is always compared to Jordan when he really should have spent his career thus far trying to be like Magic. It's too bad his Cavalier teams had to rely so much on him to score the basketball.

      Kareem and Hakeem were SCARY in iso. The Skyhook and the left block turnaround were pretty much unstoppable. You had to hope they missed. Elvin Hayes high post turnaround. AD rocker J. MJ turnaround right block and dotted line. JW running lefty hook. Magic baby hook. Dr. J baseline drive. Reggie Miller and Rip Hamilton curl and jumpers off the screen. Karl pick and pop. Charles jump stop and power through in the lane. So many!
