Thank you so much, Rodney! We've been watching you play, ahem, learning from you HOW to play, since you and your kids taught me (and my kids) how to play 7 Wonders. So appreciate all you do to help make our gaming have fun beginnings. I think we'll do one thing different though, since these are ships and the little bay area seems to indicate that's where a speculating ship should be placed, awaiting dock, it'll wait in the harbor. Not on land. Oh, I forget, as our neighbor to the north, you like harbour? And, neighbour? Fun times. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Just picked this one up and had a couple of questions due to all the nomenclature and the slight fuzziness of the wording on the board. NOW it all makes sense! Thanks for your great tutorial!
Thanks for your very good video about this game. I had one question about scoring a statue. I see that you would get 2, 5, or 10 VPs depending on which level of the statue you have built upon (1, 2, or 3) and that you have fulfilled the requirements of that level (say, for example, having green field worth at least 11 grains at level 2). However, do you also get a bonus of 11 points for having those green fields assuming you have built that brick level on that statue or do you just get the 5 points? I ask that question because the instructions say something about bonus points but they also seem to imply that you only get the 2, 5, or 10 points. I hope my question makes sense and I appreciate any clarification you can offer.
I'm not quite sure if I understand your question, but let me answer it this way, and see if it helps. For that Green Field card statue that you are referring to (seen at 20:10), if you build bricks to level 2, and let's say you have a total value of 12 in fields - then you get 5 points from the statue's effect.
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you very much for this reply. This is very helpful. I was wondering if you could answer a couple of other questions about the game. (1) There are nile cards and nile tiles that allow you to advance twice on the stone and/or grain market. if you have already reached the highest level on those markets, do you get twice the bonus available for advancing again on the market. For example, if you are at the top of the grain market and put your ship by a card or tile that allows you to advance twice, would you get 4 VPs (or just 2). Similarly, if you are at the top of the stone market and put your ship by such a marker, would you get 6 stones (or just 3)? (2) Another question has to do with the purple bonus tile (there is also a card with this same feature) that allows you to place a second ship on a Nile tile that already has a ship on it (your own or someone else's). In this situation, are you allowed to place the extra ship upstream on the Nile or does it has have to be a Nile tile downstream from all of your other ships (which would mean you could not use this bonus at the end of the placement phase unless you have no ships beyond the last Nile tile). (3) Finally, I had a question about the purple bonus tile (and nile card) that allows you to "turn one your perspective ships into a building ship" and build last in that zone. When you use that bonus, do you have to place a ship in the building zone (like you would a speculating ship) or can you use the bonus without using one of your ships during the placement phase. We really like this game and I appreciate you answering my questions!
Well, this is embarrassing, but I see that you're right. I recorded that segment, but it got lost during the edit, apparently! Here is the piece that is missing, for future viewers: "Shuffle all of the gold bonus tiles and place one of them face up on the gold column bonus space in the colonnade. Shuffle all of the purple bonus tiles and place one of them face up on the purple column bonus space. Place all of the remaining bonus tiles back into the box."
Nice review of a new version of an older copy I have. :) And good box flip. It only dipped a bit below camera view before recovery. A solid 8.75 out of 10 for the flip. :)
@@jasonng9653 You are not. I can't believe that part is missing form the video - thank you for calling that to my attention - that should not have been missed! Those box flips never get old :)
Somewhere there has to be outtakes of Rodney cleaning up hundreds of game pieces after the flip goes wrong! 😂
I like that the art is historically accurate, depicting the pyramids as being covered in white limestone and gold.

The nice things about games, is that once you own them, you can play them how you like! And thanks for those extra u's :)

So glad this was helpful (and as someone who has taken up learning magic in the last year, it's a real pleasure to have you watching Paul).
I really liked the little penguin!
Never heard of this game but it looks pretty fun and interesting!
Well thanks for checking it out Joshua!
Very well explained!! Thanks so much!
You're very welcome Miguel!
Cleared up all my questions about how to play this game lol!
Hey hey, glad it was helpful J!
Reminds me of Tokaido in same aspects, here the board is more changeable so I think replay value is better.
well this has convinced me I need this game
Glad you enjoyed what you saw Chris!
Your uploding a video evry Day thanks
Glad you're enjoying - see you next week!

I have the original version. Thanks for the overview.
A pleasure - thanks for checking it out!
I last played it in 2012!,

Yeah, but is there a card that is both a floor wax and a dessert topping?
The setup does not seem to mention the golden and purple collonade tokens

Shame it was so expensive at Spiel(and I'm guessing retail will be the same). It was a good game before and it is still a good game now.
Not sure what the pricing will be, but glad you liked the game!

Are bricks unlimited?
Yes.
Hi, I think you forgot to mention the bonus for 7th column for colonnade?
Check the notes of the description. Is that what you meant?
@@WatchItPlayed i mean the first one finishing all columns gets 5 points, 2nd gets 3 etc.
or am i missing that part?
