A little boy at the airport in Qingdao kept looking up to an airport security guard, gazing longingly for a hug.
He was eventually given a handshake, and a salute from his hero in uniform.

I am a security guard myself. This video reminds me of a situation I had not too long ago. I was working at the main entrance of a zoo for a Christmas event they have every year. A little boy(about 5 years old) and his father exited the zoo. As they did that the boy approached me and handed me a picture of the grinch with a Santa costume and wished me a merry Christmas. I said thank you and merry Christmas to both of them and got a high five from him as well. To this day I still have the picture. It was one of the most heartwarming moments I ever experienced while on the job. I’ll never forget it

Yeah, I know, I was born in a big family (lots of aunts, oncles and cousins) but still, people should stop breeding like animals. This was good in the Middle Age when people and kids died young but nowadays this is just extreme selfishness.

This reminds me of an event my dad told me about: I was a toddler at the time and I was on a walk with my parents, when we passed a policeman. I apparently stopped to look at him in awe for a few seconds until my parents came back to get me. 😄😂

Asians are very guarded when it comes to physical contact especially one showing intimacy/closeness. It's considered extremely disrespectful to touch strangers. Most especially kids. This guard did great.

Kyle Herrera it's a matter of self preservation. For he can't be sure how the hug will be reflected or interpreted by bystanders or the child's parents if their around. He has to be sure to hold himself in a way that doesnt spout suspicion towards himself. Especially in this day and age where people twist things around all the time. He did a responsible thing in acknoweldging the childs admiration, while also creating a boundry of personal interest.

What’s wrong with me praising his professionalism and his conscientiousness? As any worker with some sense of personal ethics and professionalism, one must know how to differentiate between one’s duties vs what’s not. Do u know what consequence he may face if someone reported that he hugged and played with a child while he’s on duty with video as evidence? I m sure the guard do care for the child, as he did smile back and waved to the little boy, but he knows clearly that’s all he can do while on duty, there are boundaries and limits that he must follow.
