So many hindus forcefully converted, looted, women were raped, killed etc. Those were the facts. Listen to Ambedkar, Annie basant, kumaranassan. It's the fact, we cannot change the truth. And I know the details from my grand parents. And you don't have any right to call me mathayoli, since you are defending the facts. Truth is truth. @Safeel K The root cause for the riot was khilaphat movement ie against brits. Then they started attacking hindus mainly Nair, nambuthiris. ( note:- all Nairs were not landlords ). It spread to other castes as well. So many malabar families are living in Travancore now. I don't want to repeat those painful incidents again.
It was against hindus in the malabar region, so it was a genocide, how many hindus are living in malappuram now? And if there were no British army, hindus would be almost nill. Life is most important.
And mr Haji was established an islamic country, not a secular one. The one who did conversion was thangal. What I was trying to say that we don't have to White wash those things, it must be remembered, what our ancestors have gone through. Glad that you mentioned those things. Its neither black nor white rather it has many shades of grey. Its how you percieve. Nobody has discredited atricties involving killing, forced conversion, rape etc. But you are not mentioning 1)how in the first place during 1800s moplas(unlike north malabar muslims) and dalits came together against Nairs/brahmins who ere janmis and how caste played a role. 2)And you are not mentioning these uppercastes (and also some muslims) were supporting britishers and holding high ranks in British rules and they were also helping British in capturing and killing rebellions (And there were also Muslims like Chekutty). As I remember nobody has dicredited violence happened. But if you are just seeing violence then you are actually deviating from the fact that many joined the movement/rebellion/revolt/riot(you can chose your wording) because of many other reasons rather than intention of genocide. It is a sad truth in many places the incident lead to atrocities. And the movement was highly decentralised and many leaders were involved and they hold different ideologies. Most leaders openly criticized atrocities but in many placed the opposite was happening. In short the event was a culmination of revenge against oppression, fundamentalism, and intolerance towards British.

Need for resurrection of ottoman caliphate lured the moplahs of Malabar to take arms against British empire. This later fuelled the need for an Islamic state in ernad and valluvanad thaluk. The killing of British stooge chekkuty cannot be taken as a litmus test of patriotism. Chekkuty tried to arrest Variyamkunnan many times but failed. This may have infuriated Variyamkunnan. And 1921 was not a tale of Muslims Vs uppercaste Hindus. It was between entire Hindus and diktats of Muslims clerics. Somany Chaliya colonies were vandalised and their women were raped.Moplahs rushed into Thiyya homes with the only aim of insulting and proselytising. Hindu 'verum pattakkaran' communities also faced brunt of the riot in a severe manner.
Now Islamists admire Variyamkunnan as a freedom fighter. If he was against British , how many British casualties were there??? Unlike what you said Varian kunnan was not a nobleman but a local goon at Pandikkad market and was arrested in 1909 for robbing certain Moothans from Palakkad of gold . In the same year he was wanted for attacking & robbing a mail wagon at Nilambur . Almost all of hisfamily members including his father were convicted for taking part in the mutiny that took place at Mannarkkad in 1894.. None of these criminal activities had anything to do with the khliafat movement that took shape later in 1919 , let alone the Indian independence struggle.
He went in exile to mecca where his main occupation was suaid to be plundering the pilgrims. He cameback and settled down at Nediyirippu he returned wherefrom to Thuvvur in 1919 after submitting to the British authorities an affidavit that in future he would live abiding law..
He was reluctant to come to khilfat movement initially fearing reprisal from the British .But once he saw that the mutiny was a success he lost no time in assuming its leadership and personally committed many heinous crimes mostly against hindus .

How come that the mutineers happened to be only mappilahs ? How come the mutiny continued for another 4 moths after the mappilahs gained full control of the region on 28 th August of 1921 itself bywhich time no British officer or institution was left in the region ?
