    Most dominant golfers:
    1. Mickey (LPGA: 1954-69)
    2. Tiger
    3. Jack
Tiger Woods (15 majors) is the next Mickey Wright (13 majors in 15 years)
Both are from SoCal (Tiger/Cypress, Mickey/San Diego)
    Both played at Stanford
Both have 82 tour titles (Tiger has 82 as of 2/20/20, Mickey won 82 titles in 15 years)
Both won a title in 14 consecutive years
Only 2 players have held every major title at once (the "Mickey Slam" came before the "Tiger Slam")
Both consider their greatest win to be the U.S. Open played in San Diego. Mickey Wright won the 1964 U.S. Open at the San Diego Country Club by forcing OT on the final hole of regulation and winning the following day. ua-cam.com/video/2ZiuCpDs3nc/v-deo.html
Tiger Woods did the same at Torrey Pines in 2008
Both were trailblazers, Mickey Wright made women's golf more popular, some sponsors threatened not to sponsor a tournament if Mickey was not playing
Mickey Wright retired at age 34, due in part to a foot injury. Tiger's first injury that required substantial time off happened at the age of 33 (2008)
Tiger and Jack are close in dominance, no woman was close to Mickey's dominance on the LPGA

The key to her swing, like all the great players, is her transition - she keeps the club at the top and her back to the target as her weight shifts back to the left leg, and that shift then initiates the downswing. Both Tiger and Rory's transitions also look like this when you play them from the front in slow motion. This is something I've just started putting into my swing with great effect so far.

Christo, "in driving the lower body through the hips" to be more specific, I noticed Mr. Hogan and Ms. Wright from the backswing, start the downswing with their left knee. This is also evidenced in Ms. Wright's book "Play Golf The Wright Way" I incorporated that move in my swing several years ago and found it helps with consistency and power. Great commentary - thank you!

She IS the greatest female golfer of all time. Period. Thirteen tournament wins in one season? Will never be broken. Had she been able to play longer she'd own the most wins, too. It took Kathy Whitworth 24 years to win her 83rd tourney and pass Mickey Wright's 82 tourney wins. Mickey won her 82 in 14 years. From 1961 through 1964 NO one dominated a sport like she did.

Mickey Wright competed in an era when women's golf wasn't as deep in talent as now. The influx of the fabulous korean players has raised the game to a higher level. That being said, Wright accomplished what she did in such a short time span. Mickey Wright had a combination of tremendous athleticism combined with perfect fundamentals. Tall with extremely long arms, coupled with a huge lateral shift, her swing was probably the most athletic ever. It really was a combination of Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus. Mickey Wright loaded with her legs like Jack Nicklaus, with a follow through that mirrored Hogan! Without a doubt the greatest rotation and extension in the golf swing ever. Your video bears this out. Her flawless fundamentals stemmed from two people, a teaching pro named Harry Pressler, and her work with the great Harvey Penick. Her contemporary Kathy Whitworth, said nobody had as deep an obsession with the golf swing as Mickey Wright. There have been many great swings in the game up to Annika Sorenstam and the great Koreans now. Yet nobody had a swing to equal Mickey Wright. When Ben Hogan says you're the best, you're the best

Great video of a superb swing-many thanks Christo. After studying Ben Hogan's swing for hour after hour and putting into practice his (and Mickey Wright's) initiation of the downswing by a lateral shift left of the left hip before the club begins its downswing, I feel there are three distinct benefits obtained. One is the shallowing of the club to allow it to drop into the correct hitting position allowing for the club head to travel on an inside path to impact; secondly, it seems to permit the hands to passively arrive into the correct position for impact and thirdly, it means that it is virtually impossible for early extension (standing up through
    impact) to occur.

0:43 - Just look at that impact position. The pinnacle of a great golf swing. Her arm plane higher than shoulder plane, great hip rotation, kept the butt back (pelvis deep) to give plenty of space to let arms swing, and the trail arm bent at elbow was more in front of the hips, instead of at the side of. All hallmarks of a GREAT swing. Not like many pros today who have straight arms at impact.

Hello- I must disagree with one of your statements. In an audio interview available on UA-cam (with Rich Lerner) she directly states that women's golf grips were too weak with today's players- and therefore promoted blocked shots. You stated that a stronger grip promoted the block.
In any event, she was 5'9" and yes, her arc was very wide. She also stated in another interview/source that the grip you adopt on your target side should directly reflect how that arm hangs! Many thanks for your contributions, Cristo.

I love how she just uses her legs to rotate the body vs torquing her back. She uses the ball and socket joints of her hips and femur to turn into the backswing instead of the modern day instruction of keeping your legs steady and your feet on the ground and turning your shoulders around your spine. Definitely a better way to generate a full powerful backswing and to prevent back pain.

She didn't shift her weight, she put pressure into her right heel while fully rotating her shouldersand hips on the BS, then she squatted to transition, keeping her butt back and then posted up on her lead leg. She didn't have much lateral move of the left hip past the left knee position at setup. She posted up and back at impact as today's players do. Great video and I agree with you almost 100%, if you look into the mysterious man they called, "moe norman" single plane type swing closely, you'll see that he had it down even better than these greats you share here. At least you did mention moe, which surprised me. Todd Graves channel on here goes in deep on moes swing. Backed by science and so much validity into what the late moe norman had found in how he was able to hit it long & straight, yet put the ball anywhere he wanted to, though he says many times, he prefers "straight up the middle, every time". Todd got with one of the worlds leading bio-mechanic analyzers and what that shows is, the moe norman single plane type swing is by far the most natural and accurate there is.....moe swung like a machine, like tiger said, "moe was a living byron iron"! Such a shame the PGA was what it was back then and good to see their finally coming around to accept people easier, for what they can do, instead of what they look or dress like. Moe was a brilliant if not genius, man in many aspects! I binged on all I could find of his on here! We highly recommend any & all who read these words to do the same, if you're serious about your golf game and being able to do so easily and effortlessly well into ones 'golden years'. Grateful to been led to your channel & we're now subscribed too. What I originally meant to comment simply put was, I see a lot of moe norman in all these greats you shared/mentioned here! @@MiracleSwingExperience I thought we were talking about great swings here, not amount of tour victories....? Mike Austin was a terrible putter, by all accounts. If we are talking victories, why isn't Niklaus's swing at the top of your list? There are some pretty ugly swings on tour whose owners do/did very well, better than Austin for example Furyk, Eamonn Darcy. So, your logic does not compute, does it? How far and at the same time how accurately could Hogan hit the ball with his 'greatest ever' swing? By all accounts, Mike Austin regularly exceeded 400 yards, was highly accurate, and yet had a beautiful controlled swing. So definitely no contest, in my book.

Stefan Coetzee I get that you are a Mike Austin fan and that’s great. I think Hogan has the best swing I’ve studied. Long drives are great and I’ve studied lot of Mike Austin. I put Nicklaus at number 2 on my list.

Understand the tribute and all but compared to the zillion guys in the world on the PGA Tour etc that is just ok from a technique standpoint. Nothing that makes you go wow. Have to compare against golfers not just one subset of golfers.

Jessie DiVincenzo That’s fine if you don’t get what I see. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

ONE of the things Mickey Wright said in her interview was that she "TRIED TO KEEP her right elbow in front of her right hip on the down swing!!

Sorry, but your swing at the end of the vidoe looks nothing like Mickey Wright's, keep practicing, maybe some day.
