  • Big Bird gets his tonsils removed, Lena Horne and Kermit sing about "Bein' Green", while David and Bob dress-up as old-timey firemen on yet another episode of the best darn kids show ever, Sesame Street! Episode 1255, from Season 10, first aired on March 2, 1979. Mucho thanks to Jeremy Maine aka @Sesame Maniac for sharing this medical miracle.
NOTE: Please let me know if you CAN'T see this video in your area. I've never had one marked as "partially blocked" before, not sure what or where it covers. Also baffled by the YT music tag for a Panic! At The Disco song. The band wasn't even born until 2004, lol!
Other than the main storyline about Big Bird's (Caroll Spinney) tonsils, here's what else you'll find. Only two HBO Max cuts (well, everyone else keeps mentioning them by name, so in for a penny, in for a pound, as my sainted mother says): the opening Season 10 still and "The Noble Ostrich", the Bruce Cayard cartoon.
REPEAT MUPPETS: Maria (Sonia Manzano) sings "The People in Your Neighborhood" (Motorperson and Telephone Repairman); Ernie (Jim Henson), Bert (Frank Oz), Beautiful Day Monster (Everybody Scratch); Ernie tries to teach Cookie Monster (Frank Oz) how to use his knife, fork, and spoon; "Bein' Green" w/Lena Horne and Kermit (Jim Henson); Luis (Emilio Delgado) plays a trick on Kermit using a harmonica, a whistle, a trumpet, and a banana, and they both try to pull it on Cookie Monster; Four Grovers (four Frank Ozs!); Anything Muppet girl reads "hug" with Herry (Jerry Nelson).
REPEAT CARTOONS/ANIMATION: Typewriter Guy (U for Umbrella) and Pinball Number Count #7 (both by Jeff Hale); U train (unite, U-turn, underground, up, universe); A man jumps up onto an UP; Places and things that begin with U (cartoon man voiced by Jack Dodson); U for uniform; Sand Art T/t; T for Typewriter and Toe (John Korty); T for Top (Cliff Roberts); Cat catches a TELEPHONE and eats it (The Hubleys); Wise man demonstrates none, some, most, and all with a basket of oranges for the weary traveler; Man begs his dog pulling him along to "STOP!" until they reach the word STOP; Egg Chant (girl skipping rope, boy sitting with an egg on his knee recite an alphabet poem, egg hatches and a dancing lizard emerges); Bridge #6 (4 Corner Bridge D).
REPEAT FILMS: "Swing Up High" and "Kittens in a Basket" (both Joe Raposo music); Magnetic crane picks up large pieces of metal; Gibbons make screeching noises; "Seven Song (Song of Seven)".
REPEAT CELEB: Paul Simon makes up a song with the kids and sings a bit of "Get Back" by The Beatles.
