What do you use to prime your eyes?
I always use the Rare Beauty eyeshadow primer (shop-links.co/...) and I set that with a translucent powder.
I know you weren't happy with the first eye look, but I LOVE it!!!! So much so, that there were several times when I yelled, STOP! because I loved it even before you added the dark green to the outer lid. You are so talented with your color selection and blending that it's difficult to not love every look you do. I don't think you could even do a bloopers video of bad eye looks. Really loved the neutral eye, but I ultimately liked the other eye as well. Wasn’t impressed with the patchy inconsistency of the purple shadow, but adding the blue made it look so much better. As an older woman, I wouldn’t be drawn to this palette, but it has some pretty colors. Even your “bad” makeup days look great! ❤
I don't know why you don't like it I think the neutral and even the Mardi gras look is absolutely gorgeous on you! But the neutral could definitely be worn every day it is just gorgeous!!!!!
I think it’s less about the final look, and more about whether the medium is permitting you to use it in the way you want to, to accomplish what you’re going for. There’s some really nice eyeshadows that people really love … but the formulas just don’t lend themselves to the way I like to do my makeup, and the techniques I like to use.
I think you was having a tough day. We all do and like you said, you will try it again and see how you feel. Both eyes look gorgeous but when you feel blah you just muck it all in together. Nobody is to blame and I hope your day got better. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re allowed to not like it if you don’t. One treasure to one person could be a rock to someone else. No one size fits all here ❤

I for one do miss your colorful eye looks. Not only were they exactly what makeup should be (fun, flirty, colorful) but you also have the perfect eye shape for all types of eyeshadow. Plus you got most of your hundreds of thousand of subscribers with those gorgeous pops of color. I like the red one best :)

I love the neutral look! I haven’t tried any Adept shadows, but I’ve tried other indie brands. I find their mattes really pigmented, I often only tap once into the shadows so I at least have a chance blending. My blending game is light years behind yours. 💕
I like how you went through this, sharing your thoughts and doubts with us. Sometimes it is just the wrong day, we don't really Feel the look, skin is different... We all know these days.😊

This whole experience reminds me of how I felt about Glaminatrix,s Nearly Nagural palette. Thank goodness this was not the first Glaminatrix palette I had bought otherwise it would have been my first and final purchase from them. That palette just rubbed me the wrong way because of how I felt the shades clashed with my skin tone. I have since mixed the shades in with my singles collection and enjoy them a lot more. This video makes me want to revisit that palette and see if I feel the same way. My skill at mixing shad3s and plying them has gotten somewhat better so I have high hopes for me. This Adept palette reminds me of the Glaminatrix one and thought I have been tempted by the swatches (they seem so easy to use and beautiful). I need a great sale to consider it. The great thing about Glaminatrix Ned Adeot is that their palettes are magnetic. So I never feel tied down by a colour story that may not work for me.
Adept is one of if not my favorite brand. I have way more of their palettes than any others. I love how your looks turned out. But honestly other Adept palettes pack more of a punch with shimmers. I think this was created for more everyday. I love it so far. Its so interesting to see everyone likes and dislikes.
You are so talented! I love how you put the colors together and Let’s face it, Adept is not popular for their color story and mattes. I bought it just for their shimmers. And I have to be honest, the mattes are terrible generally in indie makeup brands. But I love to see your tutorial with them. Because the shimmer are just incredible and you are making them more classy with your brilliant technique.

I am so glad you dipped into Adept! I love indie eyeshadow palettes and their stunning metallics, multichromes and presentation of the eyeshadow palettes, compared to mainstream brands! I think those of us who love indie brands, like Adept, are all about the shimmers and multichromes. The mattes are just for base. ❤😊 I hope you try more than just their neutral palette. I think this is the brands 1st "neutral" palette. 🫠

Adept mattes aren’t my fave but they have never fought with me or been patchy. The shimmers are fabulous! As they only seem to have 5 max mattes I always pull from other palettes when I use mine.
Oh I wanted to add the most important thing, both looks are so gorgeous! Absolutely love them and now I want to see round two🥰
My Favorite Adept Palette Is The Minka Palette They Created. The Glitter Metallic Shimmers They Made And The Duochromes Are Amazing 👏 ✨
This was my first palette from the brand as well and my experience was SOOO similar to yours. I loved the shimmers, they were smooth and dimensional. The color story is ME so I was really excited to get it but the mattes….. they need some work. I’m glad there’s only 4 on the palette but to help anyone who’s thinking of getting it, please be mindful that the mattes were hard to blend and patchy (for me). Maybe others will like them but I was disappointed by them considering the price.
Both looks are beautiful. The shadows are pigmented and they do have a curve. Adept shimmers are awesome. They have beautiful formulas and some that are more thick.

I love the looks you came up with. They are known for there shimmers. I have Heather Austin’s palettes and I had the same issues with the mattes.

Here I am commenting nearly 5 months after you posted these looks. I did go ahead and buy the Flying Fiddles palette and the Get Stonned palettes because I found myself completely mesmerized with the shimmer blue brown look you did with those two palettes and the Huda empowered palette. I adore that look and can wear it with many different outfits should the mood arise. I was going to buy Alter Ego’s version but found a brand new, never swatched Huda Empowered palette on Mercari for the same cost, shipping was slightly more is all.
Then during Sephora’s sale I bought Patrick TA’s palette (Major Dimension lll). I preferred this one over the Makeup by Mario mattes by far. That, some of Patrick Ta’s blushes a bunch of Mario’s plumping lip shades and a couple of full sized lippies and I hit rouge status. Now after major surgery I don’t feel like wearing anything just yet. But I will. I’m still loving your palette and have hit pan on maybe 3-4 shades! Keep doing your thing! It is very much appreciated!!! 😊

I have the adept plain Jane remasters palette which is all shimmers so I can’t rly speak to the mattes but I def think it’s the shimmers that the brand excels in. The plain Jane is 5+ formulas, so many shifts, super fun & unique addition to my collection. I am going to do a purple & green look asap!!
I think your final look for both eyes looked great but I am 100% in agreement about shadows that are too pigmented and I have to spend huge amounts of time trying to soften and blend them. There are a lot of eyeshadows that are just too intense nowadays. I love color but I don’t want to look like a clown with bright harsh shadows. Love your looks though, Angela. You are very talented! 🥰
I like both eyes. I like that you can do a neutral & colorful look. However, because the matte shades are so pigmented you have to be very careful if you are very fair. That's not my issue so I might try this palette.

Both eye looks are beautiful! The green to purple is stunning! You might need to add your palette to this palette and then try it with a different primer. You like your mattes so add a matte palette to the flying fiddle. You can do this! Your work is so beautiful! Love it!💜😁

Angelica Nyqvist has said that she really isn’t a fan of Adept mattes and when I hear others rave about Adept, it’s usually about Adept shimmers.
Both are beautiful, but I love the Mardi Gras eye look.
Adept is not a brand I'm familiar with but Scotland might just need some catch up time lol ! It's looks very nice in the pan but that first red u put down was not for blending out. Looked muddy until u worked ur magic on it. The Mardi G eye ended up looking stunning so well done you 👏 The neutral eye was very pretty but u could do that look with so many other products u have imho. Think I'm more drawn to the bright colours this time. Would love to see you use the pallet again for sure. As always, both looks came together and looked stunning. Amazing job misses ♡♡♡
I agree w you about the amount of mattes. I’d want a lighter crease shade and a blending shade too. I love the shimmers. So pretty. I wonder if there was any fallout during the day
Yeah I have never really had a good time with Adepts mattes but it is so much their shimmers are where it’s at. They used to just put out strictly shimmers in the beginning. I didn’t get this pallet bc I didn’t like the tones and colors. But their last one Element 115 is gorgeous. I have been a fan since their first pallet. Have first 3 which are still my favorite after years
I don’t have trouble with the Adept formulae but I go in light and then build. I loved your eye looks.
Love both looks. However, the neutral look is looks absolutely gorgeous.
I believe the adept formulas have a better duo multi chrome shadows then their mattes. I don’t have any problems with either on their palettes but I usually don’t use primers because some make mattes too patchy. I use concealer so that might work better for you. I want to try the new MUF foundation as well but I have dry skin and I heard it’s better for dry skin.

I don't think you are being too harsh on this palette, not at the prices they charge. I haven't tried Adept personally, they just don't call to me I guess. But it's probably because overall it was a bad makeup day, maybe try another day and things might be different. The eye looks were really nice though.
Your looks were beautiful, but I totally get what you’re saying. I bought the Samarian palette because of the hype. The mattes were not pigmented at all, the shimmers are pretty but I don’t care for the formula at all creases very easily if I don’t apply glitter glue 😩

I have found with the adept shadows there are times I love and sometimes not so much. I personally find the issue is the brushes I use.
The mattes do seem kind of stiff and need work to blend. Or lack on where you want and just blend a little on edges. The shimmers seemed to perform well in this palette but they’re just not my favorite colors. If I’m reaching for adept, I think I’d rather reach for my heather Austin palette. There are a couple shimmers in there that I absolutely love! I like those tones of colors a little more than these, but it’s just a personal preference on color. Edit to add: my favorite lid shades from the heather Austin adept palette are 0603, and Hey Y’all. And So Excited is pretty good, but I like those first two shades best. And I like those two shimmer shades more than the shimmer colors in this new flying fiddles palette.
Adept is a little overhyped. Their mattes are hard for me to build sometimes and the shimmers are too squishy to work well with many brushes. You need to use fingers and then they potentially crease if you don’t have a rock solid primer
I’ve heard a lot of people recommend the NYX glitter primer with adept shadows which I need to try

I think this one and their previous bigger palette which was the UFO themed one, both of them don't have as many duochrome and multichrome shades, but instead include some shifty shades with normal shimmer shades mixed in. So I think that could be a reason why it might have felt the palette was not as "worth the hype", unlike the brands previous palettes that have had only shifty shades in them. And just like many other comments here have said, their mattes aren't exactly the best in terms of quality. I have the Minka and the Samarian Sunset palettes, and in both of those I would have just rather had the matte shades left out completely, because I felt the quality wasn't as high as with the shimmer shades in those palettes.

What a bummer, I love Adept. There is a learning curve with indie shadows (at least with me anyways). I would try it again when you're having a better makeup day. And it may not just be a brand for you. That's going to happen sometimes unfortunately. There have been several palettes that everyone seemed to love and I just didn't. It happens. I hope you get it again on camera, I'd love to see you try it again.
I’m gonna keep trying it! I totally get that some brands have a learning curve (it took me a while to figure out how to use ND shadows but now I love them).
@angelaabright Same!! The very first time I used ND I was like, this costs over $200???? (The green/brown palette.) But after a few times it became a favorite and is still to this day LOL. Some brands I could just never get to work for me though. It's always disappointing.

I feel the eyeshadows to bright and chunky for a dayly use,...I like it but I don't love it...
And....I don't either like where the pigments are made....sorry! but I prefer when they come from US, Italia, Canada, and so on....
meanwhile I still haven’t recovered from the Pat Ta blend from a few videos back!! 😳I was always a sucker for an all matte eye. The tones were gorgeous. Sephora Aust is still waiting for that palette!!! whereas it came out in the US soooo long ago.Yet i’ve already bought the new Laura Mercier foundation from Mecca, and it feels like it was only released 2 weeks ago. 🤷♀️I’ve been following you for so long that I was probably here in 2016!!! I wonder if you can tell? That’s hilarious 😂 I wonder if that first Adept shadow was hard to blend because of the color. Burgundy mattes are often patchy.
Actually it looks like all the mattes were hard to blend. Maybe because they’re a little too pigmented
I love my Adept palettes. I have almost all of them, but ironically I'm skipping this one. It looks a bit too neutral for me and I think I have most of these shades already. I use my Adept palettes in combination with other palettes - I always use more than one palette for a look!

I feel the same. For me, the mattes are tough to work with, and many of the shimmers will not stay put regardless of what method I try. I end up with sparkle all over my face. 😊
I don't like their matte formula either... I have the element 115 palette and I feel like the pigment just kind of slides off my eyelid and gets patchy when I apply multiple times 😂the metallics are stunning though
The samarian sunset had these gel like formulas i had never experienced. I had been interested in this based on that - but i saw a few reviews suggesting this one was not as good. I was sad bc this color story was nice 0:37
That was my problem with Adept, my expectations were too high. I was expecting shimmers like clionadh and devinah, and these aren't like those at all. They are very thin, but the plus side is they are texture friendly. I thew all their mattes away and put the shimmers I liked in singles palettes. I only have 1 or 2 of their shimmers I reach for nowadays as well. I was hoping the quality would improve with time.
They definitely have different kinds of shimmers. One more everyday and one that’s super sparkly. I love the super sparkly palettes like Sumerian sunset and House of El. A lot of the other ones are fine but nothing spectacular. I just need to really think about each new palette that comes out and see if it’s got the formula I want.
Adept’s strength is definitely in their shimmer formulas. I find their mattes pretty meh, but their shimmers are fantastic

I bought Adept's Plain Jane pallet and I was not impressed. The shimmers creased so bad on be even though I primed my lids. Some of the shades hard paned on me. I just can't justify the price and lack quality.
Did the first two matte shadows have glitter in them or was it already on your brush? I could definitely see glitter.
I will say i love their shimmers but the mattes are hard to work with so i totally understand. The shocking part of adept to me was the packaging like holy guacamole they use so much plastic its wild!
I love Adept palettes, however they charge $ 40.00 to ship them to Canada. By the time I pay the exchange on the currency, the shipping and the duty to bring it in to the country it’s closed to $ 200.00. So insane. The exorbitant shipping charge is the one that irritates me the most…

I find once I’ve used Anastasia’s palettes that not many others compare (with few exceptions including your & An’s palette). Kinda like that ex you never got over lol.
I feel like if you can't get the shadows to work then nobody can lol. Maybe the people that love it don't necessarily want a perfectly blended look? I don't know but either way you still look beautiful ❤❤❤

I had the palette in my cart and then decided to watch more videos about it but now seeing you struggle so much with the blending, I am not so sure... The colors are stunning but is it really worth it ? Especially when you have to work so hard to make it look good... Have you change your mind about it 5 months later ? Are you still using it ?
Since this video I have not used the palette 😬 I did take out one shimmer that I liked and put it into a custom shimmer palette but thats it

They swatched really well and the colors look nice in your video but when I look at the palette on their website, it really looks blah, they could use some better lighting, or at least someone who knows how to touch things up in Photoshop.
I have tried one adept palette and the mattes didn't work for me, many tries, different bases. I just use the shimmers.
The shimmers in this palette are not the same as my other Adept palettes, these are more subtle imo
For adept mattes, I go in with a very small amount and a very light hand.
I also don’t think this is the best palette the brand has made.

I think both of the looks were gorgeous. and you really worked out the kinks. I was able to "feel" the blending struggles. It definitely seemed like the mattes were patchy and sticking to the primer. You worked that s#%t out, though!! I would have never guessed by your finished looks that there was any problem with the application. Love your honesty though, even if it's an unpopular opinion. Hey, pretty lady. Not a fan of Adept cosmetics at all. Yes, they have done some pretty palettes but their mattes are notorious to be a dry formula. Both eyelooks are beautiful, BUT YES, the mattes look patchy and dry. I don't think is your technique. It could be that either the formula doesn't like sticky primer/base or the shadow is too dry. Perhaps setting the lid with setting/loose powder first? 🤔
Ultimately, it's a nice color story, so keep playing with it... you've done fantastic looks. You look beautiful still, darling 😘.

I use urban decay primer, and then the nyx glue for the Shimmer I love my whole palette but I don’t have this palette I have the green pellet inspired by green arrow I love it
I honestly don't think it's the shade of the shadows, I think it's too much shimmer in my opinion. If there were more matte shades I think it would blend better. But overall I think the colors look great.
I felt pretty much the same way that you seem to when I tried Adept. It just didn’t live up to the hype for me. I felt meh.
