This is weird. I have been watching Adventures In Game Development when I was on the college and thinking how cool it is to see the development from up-close. I even defended Falco from criticism. But I have many years of software development behind me now, met many cool developers, learned a lot and oh-boy - what an arrogant manchild he is in my eyes now. I would absolutely hate to have a colleague like him. No respect to backers, deaf to criticism, making up excuses for everything, 0 responsibility... What a joke he is.
Absolutely. I'm sure he was working as hard as he said he is, but oh God, that is not how you run a project that has any hope of success. His whole theory that the project is going to succeed by default because of how 'cool' his code and technology is (and how passionately he can explain it) should have been a massive red flag to everyone. The scope creep is out of this world.
Wow brings back memories, I started watching the dev logs in early 2014 when I was still in 6th grade now I'm in college and for some reason I thought about elysain shadows and decided to see what's been happening with the development. Sad to see it still hasn't been released considering I used my brother's credit card at the time to pay for the Kickstarter fee haha it really has been 8 years though time flies damn it.
God what a mess i remember watching them when they STARTED the damn thing i was young teenager then, now i'm a freaking married man, that's how long it's been, absolutely mind-numbing
Rofl I looked this up because I was listening to a game Dev podcast from 2014 and they called the Kickstarter for this game out as being totally unrealistic
i tried to reach out to falco on his dc but he seemed like he does not care much about the game and is into "healt" and "alternative media" now. It was such a good start but i always wondered what happened to the project. Wanted to back at first but now im glad i didnt. After that long time without updates it actually seems reasonable to ask for updates or refunds. Should not be that hard to atleast publish some written updates.
I don't think it's reasonable to ask for a refund years after a donation. That money was definitely already spent pursuing the vision of the kickstarter. Unfortunately some projects are too ambitious / don't have the right combination of things to get completed. This guy has clearly poured his heart and soul into this work - forgive him for not completing & let him get on with his life imo. Your $20 is spent
@@jh-kd4lk luckily i didnt back the project because i thought exactly this might happen. Usually you expect to get something from your money - its not a donation in the way that you expect no return at all. The least you can expect is some more community communication and interaction. Explaining where the problems are or why its not working and if the project is given up on completly atleast releasing what has been done so far. Id still love to see this game finished though.
I know this wont be see but I will say it anyway. This whole situation has been stressful to follow do to how confusing it is from the outside. But man... I hope you and your team can accomplish the goal of finishing the game just to bring peace back to your lives.
Ignore the haters bro. I can tell you work hard by watching your videos. Makes me wish I knew how to develop so I could assist you. If you weren't so busy the anal fungus could be a funny boss to add to Elysian Shadows. I've never complained about you but it was funny as hell you said html, mario maker and myspace edit really is the limits of my programming experience. ha ha ha!
15 years and he never learned a thing.

I would love it if a good video game video essay youtuber would make a video on this project.

All I hear are excuses.
You can either have excuses, or you can have results. Not both.
Most 12-year-olds can now reproduce his real-time lighting effect in Unity. That's how antiquated his design has become.
Sure, but can that thing run on the Dreamcast?
Who fucking cares.
@@Mr4NiceOneElysian Shadows can't run on the Dreamcast either, because it doesn't fucking exist.

if you know, you know!
He hasn’t updated anyone in 2 years, total scammer
I would rather that we unbind him from his promise and allow him to declare bankruptcy
Really entertaining rant though. Lol
