a bit stange and novel idea, perfect disguise yeah, but how can the leader actress behaves like this, i guess william would turn around and turn to be the final boss 👀
I love the technology in this show, especially the military tech. Feel like Nolan would be better off making a seperate series, based on future conflict.
@@grubbybum3614 Or maybe that's the gamer in J. Nolan showing himself. Nano-technology which suppresses stress, emotion and moral judgment (MGS4), a plan to break free of the AI that secretly runs the world (Patriots from MGS2 and MGS4).
That entire fight was interesting from a storytelling perspective: Normally a fight like that would depict and emphasize who's the underdog("good guy") and who's not("bad guy"). Dolores had a small knife, Maeve a katana. Dolores had a small drone, Maeve a chopper. Dolores had a rifle, Maeve an autocannon. Westworld-twist, or are they blatantly spelling out that "Dolores ain't a bad guy no more"? We'll see next episode.
I’m curious as to what they’re gonna do with William now. His character feels out of place this season. I bet they have an interesting twist as to what his role will be in the future but I just hope it’s good. Don’t want them to ruin one of the best acted characters in the show
That ID number thing is intriguing, it would be hilarious if it was actually a production error all along! I mean, I am trying to reconcile William and Caleb, maybe Dolores is trying to recreate 'white hat' William like she recreated Arnold, but with edits where we got Bernard?
I agree I personally don't like his man in white direction, but at least it's somewhat justified and built up to unlike some twists... Cough cough Game of thrones cough cough
SereneGaming I honestly think that William is another version of Dolores but who doesn’t have a Bernard to be the opposition. Which makes him even more dangerous than Dolores
It's not that confusing if you're paying attention but I do enjoy all the callbacks to earlier seasons, thematic links and freeze-frame analyses. It certainly enriches the viewing experience.
not... they end the system and going back to westworld style in real world... next season just going to be another story about host going at it at each other... there r no side in the stroy since in the end we (human) are all lose.....
well if they'd happen to maybe get some sort of tech enhancement to their bodies as a condition of being able to indeed go on surviving from there, I mean c'mon, the name's kinda right there staring at us in the face -- ROHOBOTS. or Rohobeings.
I had hopes when the first episode came out. I really enjoyed the world they created. But now I'm starting to think all the characters suck. They have no personality.
True. I hope it doesn't turn out exactly the same way season 02 did. As having high hopes in the beginning and being more and more disappointed troughout the season. I thought they learned their lesson with the crappy previous season.
This is the biggest thing for me too. Season 1 is miraculously good. The contrasts in tone and setting made each setting (the modern Mesa, and the park) more interesting and alive, because you see how on one hand, there's an elaborate, emotional, rich story playing out in the world of the Hosts, and on the other hand, the somewhat banal yet equally relatable reality of the park as a Disneyland Attraction, seeing the different "storylines" and their unique characters starting to interrelate, the guests acting like boorish tourists and workers doing routine maintenance in high tech labs while management, Behaviour and QA all try furiously to keep it from imploding. I loved the internal tension between the different Delos departments - Behaviour wants to find solutions to things one way, the engineers want to solve it another way, Ford and Bernard in other ways, QA believes the solution is to bring lots of guns, etc... the idea of who comes out on top of that internal conflict was a great hook, and they basically got rid of that in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. In s2, the Mesa and later the park becomes just a depressing backdrop for gunfights rather than a living place of its own. The unsuspected transitions between who is "in control" in each of these two settings make for some really striking imagery and cool contrasts. For instance, you never know when someone from the park staff might hit the Freeze All Functions button in the middle of a high stakes, high tension moment in the Park to strip away the veneer and cast doubt on everything we just saw presented to us. "Is he really going crazy or is he malfunctioning?" Setting the third season (almost) entirely within the real future deprives some of that magic, especially after the torturously complex 2nd season. Serac and Dolores are cartoon villains pitted against each other in a struggle for... nothing in particular other than the dominance of their poorly justified worldviews.
@@ewanandris4832 season 1 had a great way of showing us one thing, getting us to believe in a certain truth, then subverting that belief under our noses, visually and narratively. S2 and 3 just tell us what narrative to believe (Freedom Good, Slavery Bad) and shuffle the alliances between characters around, leaking more backstory along the way, to show us different ways in which they think we should believe the same thing.
so i started westworld on monday... and am now finished today (friday). i wouldn’t have got through this series without your explanations!!! this show blows my mind - i can’t wait to see what you think of the finale!
I'm so glad he mentioned the beginning where Caleb casually mentions Dolores' "kind". I feel like that's such a big part of the story, such an important revelation, that they shouldn't have kept it off screen. When did she tell him that she is a host from Westworld? On the plane? We have to guess! I had to double check that I hadn't missed an episode between the last one and EP 7 because I was honestly so confused by how casually they were discussing Dolores' "kind"...
I hope it's not future world. That would just be too predicable. I know it was in the sequel. But I think Dinosaur World would be good. It would give a nod towards the author of Westworld who wrote Jurassic Park,
@@profbfc I really hope not, but I can see it heading there. I like how it has humans in their loops and breaking free from them. It's a good mirror to Season 1.
I feel like everything happening to Maeve was a part of Ford's plan because she literally had everything she needed to escape the park and survive out in the real world, but she decided to stay. Hopefully, the plan was that Maeve would be the one to kill Serac because if it isn't, then her character should've not returned at all since it's pointless for her story to be continued. She already saved her daughter by making sure she entered the Sublime. Also, if Maeve programmed herself to be extremely intelligent, then shouldn't she know Serac cannot be trusted?
I really liked Maeve through Season 1 and Season 2 but now.. now she just annoys me. Her motives are weak. And it really does seem like they only brought her back so Dolores could fight someone. Because Maeve being against Dolores seems to stem from Maeve being controlled by Serac - with that switch he has. It all could have been avoided if Maeve told Dolores that. Dolores could kill her, rebuild her without the switch, and then boom. Maeve is helping Dolores and on the side where her daughter is.
They made it seem like we would get Dolores vs Bernard at the end of season 2 but they’re forcing Dolores vs Maeve this season and I agree that Maeve’s motives are weak af. Why is she helping someone that’s literally trying to destroy her kind and does she seriously believe he would let her and her not real daughter live happily ever after? If so then she’s dumber than I thought
TriXJester i agree. I think dolores doesn’t want to destroy the humans anymore. She wants to have a world where both humans and her specie can live in peace. In serac’s plan there is no space for robots because rehoboam cannot make a prediction on them. I think Solomon made a prediction, the final strategy, where the most humans can live in together with robots. Maybe its a strategy without rehoboam in it so it can also unfold itself in a way that serac must fight against his brother. Maybe, i am very curious to the last episode. I hope you too.
14:25 if that's the case, then Dolores should've done this when she flooded The Forge and destroyed The Cradle but she didn't. She has all the time to do this after she got out of the park but she didn't and Maeve doesn't realize this. That is why Lisa Joy said in the making of ep 7 that "the best way to ensure a corrupt system's survival, is to take the good people within it and turn them against each other." That line struck me the most. And Maeve fall for it.
Dolores made thing up as she go.. same as writer..(they excuse is she a mad robot).. they never had plan just the same as GOT... it would end as dissapint as the same... HBO... all they care is our time...
Dolores should've done what, had time to do what? I went back to 14:25 but don't understand what you're saying. sorry, just curious. especially like that quote.
0:57 My theory is that in Berlin is Dolores. The Dolores we have seen all season has been a copy all along. She hasn't experience Decoherence as she was inside the same skin/body and living the same lifestyle. The original is safely locked away somewhere. Caleb will retrieve her in the next episode. I could be miles off here but it makes sense to me :D
I don’t expect Clem to be explained by the show. The writers might just have “kinda forgot” about her storyline, and just thought it to be cool to have her back, kicking arse again.
It's sad how ambitious they were in the first season with details and hints and stuff everywhere. And how all of this was turned into meaningless kick ass action moments throughout season 2 and sadly season 3 once again...
@@Fussfackel Yup ... I think they were too quick to turn the park into chaos and leave it behind. The park had so much cool mystery and adventure within it ... while the future real world is just filled with typical villains and fighting.
@@martynstembridge7714 All that mystery has been explained though. What more is there to do in the park? Also I don't get what you mean. The park is filled with typical villains and fighting too. The park was about the hosts gaining consciousness, and then fighting to liberate themselves. The real world is about humans breaking out of their system, and now fighting to liberate themselves. So your point makes 0 sense.
Feels like they just brought Maeve back for fan service because of her powers. Her character arc ended well in season 2. She’s dumb af If she thinks serac would let her and her not real daughter live happily ever after. They promised Dolores vs Bernard this season yet we get Dolores vs Maeve fighting for the wrong reasons instead of teaming up against serac
Maybe Serac realizes that trying to cheat robot is a bad idea (Maeve was build for predict human desiers with one look), and he actually can keep his words.
16:52 it’s not the same number. Caleb: U M2702I001912B Will : U M27021001912B The seventh character is a “i” on Caleb as in William it’s the number “1”
Occam's Razor says it is just a production "thing". Someone could be bothered rendering a whole new number sequence so they copied Williams & just changed one character.
It probably gives them a broader and different range of information from powerful and successful people's memories to work with than just the lower-class mentally unstable people memories Rehoboam collected.
it sure is. William’s is M two seven zero two one … and Caleb is M Two seven zero two I …. , as all the letters are upper case and the font has no serifs there is no horizontal on the top and bottom of the capital I. It does appear that they put effort into make it look like they were similar to throw people off, the letters are larger than numbers in Williams and his also says PATIENT, where as for Caleb the letters are the same size as the numbers and the “patient” is much smaller and over to the left on the UI to making the capital I in his serial number harder to discern
Caleb's 'mother' most likely isn't his real mother, as the person captured by them said, " the system will kill one of them, preferably someone who had no family " then caleb kind of reacted by not reacting - this might be implying that he didn't had a 'mother' during that time.
@@rehatbir. well thanks for nitpicking me for not having the perfect memory but it is the same thing, he had something to lose if he had a mother. we also knew that his mother abandoned him when he was a kid.
I think Maeve and Bernard are kinda "lost" this season. Like, i don't get what they're trying to achieve. They should be working with Dolores, not against her.
Specially when last season Bernard had decided to help the host revolution. He is the one who revived Dolores and now he wants to stop her. Makes no sense.
Woooooow u forreal there's really not gonna b a episode 8 recap lol it's cool take ur time collect ur thoughts and hopefully you will give us a decent season 3 breakdown and good season 4 predictions but don't act like HBO taking 2 years to deliver
Maeve's motivations for fighting Dolores are extremely weak and even killing off Hector to somewhat give her a bit more of a motive, didn't do much to fix things. Her story with her daughter is getting very old and repetitive, she was supposed to have finally had closure last season but they decide to bring it back again just as an "excuse" to create a plot for Maeve. I'm really disappointed with the way they handled her character this season
I’ve noticed a lot of people say Caleb and William have the same code. It’s close but look again Caleb is 02I00 William is 02100 it’s capital i not a 1. They are close though like because they’re both part of the system failure but in different ways
I really enjoyed this season. It seems like they have a clearer vision of what they want, and the inconsistencies are side effects of the confused s02 Edit: typo
I dare say Westworld fits the Alt-Shift-X format even better than GoT did. Can't wait till you work through HDM. If you do I hope you pull the book chapters alongside it.
In some ways I kind of lament the timing of "Lost", it would've been really interesting to see ASX sifting thru all that week to week, especially given the volume of different literary references and whatnot that Lindelof & Cuse put in there. I mean I remember especially over the last two seasons in 2009 and 2010 there were some certain places (including a couple YT channels) that were chugging along trying like a precursor to the more comprehensive type things we have now, but it was really just like the minor leagues. and oh crap, I hope I didn't just invite one or two (or god forbid several) obligatory 'Lost sucked' reactions lol I just do not at all get some certain takes on that, it's like we were watching two different shows. And I'd never by any means try to suggest it was like 'greatest ending ever' or anything like that, but it wasn't by any metric the other extreme either. It was very good, if someone were to claim to me that like some laundry list of questions they've got were never answered, I promise I'd be able to clearly explain almost all of them, and trust me I'm a fucking idiot lol okay sorry, that wound up going way further down the rabbit hole than I'd initially intended or thought I would hahaa
Healing technology is very advanced in this version of the future so Halores most likely has no scars from her burns, probably didn't even need aloe vera.
I know Alt Shift X has a Cindy Brady speech impediment sometimes but I clearly heard him say, "blow on it like a Nintendo cartridge;" which is what you would do to clean the terminals not go down on it. LOL
William’s and Caleb’s IDs are almost identical, but one has a 1 and the other an I in the middle. Feels like a showrunners’ very sly way of fucking with everyone on reddit
- Serac sending Maeve to a location which he knows have EMP device without any safety lock - doesnt make new Maeve body with built-in EMP protection (also gives her katana because "COOL") - simple USB drive and VA device have EMP protection but Maeve-Sue doesn't Bravo Nolan :)
Parts of interest for me were two versions of the Charlotte Hale goodbye video. The dog disappeared. Solomon says 'if we are indeed really here'.Haloris also rewore the exact same outfit to two separate Delos meetings (unusual they would show that) . Clearly we were seeing parts of a mirror world simulation but I don't understand how they are going to clarify it...
@@maxr1826 I agree 100% to infinity and beyond but that would require them to use original thought. So far all they've done is plagiarize Logan's Run with West/Futureworld and mixed it up with Memento.
Great job! I don't think Dolores want to build a new virtual world. She decline that way in season 2, because she said: "Because reality is unexchangeable".
Maeve is so boring..Completely forget about man in black and the guest killing her repeatedly and now totally focus on revenge for the person who she thought is dead 2 episode ago. Her motivation is so shallow.

She hasn't experience Decoherence as she was inside the same skin/body and living the same lifestyle. The original is safely locked away somewhere. Caleb will retrieve her in the next episode. I could be miles off here but it makes sense to me :D
It's not the same number. Caleb has a I after 2 while William has 1.
16:52 yup
estranged son then?
Altshiftyyyyyy. I always look forward to these videos !!
Maeve has been my one real hangup this season. She's never felt this one note before. I'm really hoping this last episode adds some heat to her.
@@noelcrenshaw7969 i hope she betrays serac at the end and helps dolores.
So true. I used to love her but now she's just 'there"
Maybe Serac realizes that trying to cheat robot is a bad idea (Maeve was build for predict human desiers with one look), and he actually can keep his words.
Maeve is a fucking dud. Who cares about her fucking digital daughter? Over her storyline.
16:52 it’s not the same number.
Caleb: U M2702I001912B
Will : U M27021001912B
The seventh character is a “i” on Caleb as in William it’s the number “1”
good eye
whoa nice catch, it still must mean something
Yeah it could either be writers throwing a doozie for viewers or it means there's some "correction" between characters.
@@buhlayz It might actually be a red herring to keep the conspiracy theorists busy.
Occam's Razor says it is just a production "thing". Someone could be bothered rendering a whole new number sequence so they copied Williams & just changed one character.
asoiaf is what I've been waiting for. thank you.
This has got to be one of the few channels that outputs pure quality content on a regular basis.
I goddamn knew that Caleb is actually is Master Chief
You can even see Sgt. Dude in his flashbacks!
I am waiting for your video on the finale.
I missed these videos _so much_ you don't even know.
Talk about whatever you want, I'll be here watching.
Is it just me or can I sense a tone of “this is swiftly becoming bullshit” in your voice?
I’m convinced the writers haven’t a clue what the story will be.
you mean Schwiftly becoming

I don't get how the human data from the forge is the "right genetic info" to reprogram the outliers?
It probably gives them a broader and different range of information from powerful and successful people's memories to work with than just the lower-class mentally unstable people memories Rehoboam collected.
@@JohnFourtyTwo but the visitors were also pretty corrupt, at least many of the ones we saw. I guess theres a stress on success over goodness.
@@twixotic04 Very true and I was including their corruption and other badness as part of the broader and different range of memories to work with.
Outlier uprising....As always Alt Shift, you answer more questions for me than the show ever does..
The patient IDs for William and Caleb are different. It’s hard to see but one of the 1s is an upper case i.
Hey yea, you're right! The first character before the two 0's is an "I" on Caleb's! Ooooooohhhh! I'm really intrigued about this even more now!
it sure is. William’s is M two seven zero two one … and Caleb is M Two seven zero two I …. , as all the letters are upper case and the font has no serifs there is no horizontal on the top and bottom of the capital I. It does appear that they put effort into make it look like they were similar to throw people off, the letters are larger than numbers in Williams and his also says PATIENT, where as for Caleb the letters are the same size as the numbers and the “patient” is much smaller and over to the left on the UI to making the capital I in his serial number harder to discern
thanks for pointing it out, probably its on purpose that the letter I represents the I = self, while 1 represents the specie who will left to survive.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT! They are so super similar down to one letter/number out of 14!
This is 100% like this for us who dive deep to piss us off
Right now, you have the best review of Westworld S03. Concise scriptwise, smart and focused on what really matters.
I NEEEEED your Season 3 Episode 8 video!!!
Missed an opportunity man, you should've called him 'Dolawrence'
Fantastic as always, and you're right - "What happened to Charlotte's dog?" is definitely the question I want answered in the finale.
Even though I dont even watch Westworld I still watch your videos on it cause I love your narrative voice
Came here to read recent comments. Glad I’m not alone.
These explanations by Alt Shift X are the best amongst any other westworld episode explanations on youtube. Keep the good work going.
Caleb's 'mother' most likely isn't his real mother, as the person captured by them said, " the system will kill one of them, preferably someone who had no family " then caleb kind of reacted by not reacting - this might be implying that he didn't had a 'mother' during that time.
Someone who had "nothing to lose" not no family.
@@rehatbir. well thanks for nitpicking me for not having the perfect memory but it is the same thing, he had something to lose if he had a mother. we also knew that his mother abandoned him when he was a kid.
@@evertchin You made perfect sense and it's the same criteria that's used when asking people to volunteer for a one-way mission.
Will there be an Episode 08 wrap up? I can't wait to see what Alt Shift X has to say about the finale!
Thanks, your insights have made S3 a little less of a trainwreck and a little more tolerable.
Not going to lie without alt shift X explanation on every episode I would be lost :-( thank you
Been waiting for episode 8 recap. Any ETA?
I think Maeve and Bernard are kinda "lost" this season. Like, i don't get what they're trying to achieve. They should be working with Dolores, not against her.
Because if only Serac against Dolores-series & allies, It would not complicated enough , so they're f*ck-up with Maeve and Benardnold ...
Because having multiple factions and lots of morally grey characters all working against each other is what's "in" for big budget tv right now
Nobody should be working with Dolores.
Feels like Jonathan Nolan never got over Person of Interest 😔 WestWorld s3 keeps reminding me of PoI in so many different levels
I’ve noticed a lot of people say Caleb and William have the same code. It’s close but look again Caleb is 02I00 William is 02100 it’s capital i not a 1. They are close though like because they’re both part of the system failure but in different ways
Or related. Caleb could be Williams son, right?
don't the whole thing is just of fan to kill time before next ep.... the whole show is the same as GT.. fucking HBO
These are class! I am so thankful for these to keep me from devolving with confusion throughout the Westworld series! 🙏
William is Caleb and half of this series is 30 years in the future, obviously :) Seriously though, appreciate the time you put into these.
Bro are u suffering from corona? Where is the season finale explanation? Eagerly waiting
Thanks for the continuing awesome videos. It really helps to prep for each following ep. Season 3 finale hype!
When will episode 8 of your channel be up?
The best after-episode video as usual, thanks mate!
“Frozen popsicle people” 😂😂😂 but an army of angry outliers could be interesting 🤔
Best videos, always worth the wait.
I really enjoyed this season. It seems like they have a clearer vision of what they want, and the inconsistencies are side effects of the confused s02
Edit: typo
I dare say Westworld fits the Alt-Shift-X format even better than GoT did. Can't wait till you work through HDM. If you do I hope you pull the book chapters alongside it.
omg he's gonna do that? so here for it
In some ways I kind of lament the timing of "Lost", it would've been really interesting to see ASX sifting thru all that week to week, especially given the volume of different literary references and whatnot that Lindelof & Cuse put in there.
It was very good, if someone were to claim to me that like some laundry list of questions they've got were never answered, I promise I'd be able to clearly explain almost all of them, and trust me I'm a fucking idiot lol
okay sorry, that wound up going way further down the rabbit hole than I'd initially intended or thought I would hahaa
Healing technology is very advanced in this version of the future so Halores most likely has no scars from her burns, probably didn't even need aloe vera.
I always love the books recommended on your channel!!

*“...Or blown like a Nintendo Cartridge.”😂*
So, spit on her and smack her around a bit?
I know Alt Shift X has a Cindy Brady speech impediment sometimes but I clearly heard him say, "blow on it like a Nintendo cartridge;" which is what you would do to clean the terminals not go down on it. LOL
William’s and Caleb’s IDs are almost identical, but one has a 1 and the other an I in the middle. Feels like a showrunners’ very sly way of fucking with everyone on reddit
Where's the last episode recap?
This season has been amazing, i just hope the finale doesn't send us off a cliff
Oh, I actually am looking forward to a Lisa and Chris cliffy this season! Seems like they'd enjoy torturing us for two years like that... ;)!
A cliff is almost inevitable, which is scary considering how uncertain production for any movies or shows will be in the coming couple years.
@@rhythmchyc3089 by the time the next season comes out, it will be looked at as a historical tv show about the year 2058
Daniel Stevens it’s funny because it’s true... and sad, too. 😩😩
- Serac sending Maeve to a location which he knows have EMP device without any safety lock
- doesnt make new Maeve body with built-in EMP protection (also gives her katana because "COOL")
- simple USB drive and VA device have EMP protection but Maeve-Sue doesn't
Bravo Nolan :)
AKM 762 first few episodes were fun. Now its kinda getting lame
Caleb's and William's ID are not the same. Caleb's ID has an "I" while William's has a "1".
whoa! that's actually true! good catch! but even more confusing that they have made such similar numbers. faulty random number generator?
Yes, but then it's switched in other scenes. So both of them have the same two numbers. Really, really weird.
Looks to me like Jonathon and Lisa are fucking with us like they usually do so I wouldn't put too much thought into this as nothing but that.
wish they had spent as much time on the story as they did those fucking numbers
@@maxr1826 I agree 100% to infinity and beyond but that would require them to use original thought. So far all they've done is plagiarize Logan's Run with West/Futureworld and mixed it up with Memento.
WHAT?! I was sure it was going to be 10 episodes! There's no way everything is going to be explained in that short of time.
this finale is gonna blue-ball all of us so hard. it's obvious they're setting up for a cliff hanger
Sage A cliff hanger eh? Who would have ever thought that?
When’s your episode 8 review already ??? Taking forever
He’s not gonna do it.
Love your videos! Can't wait for the last episode of this season!
Great job! I don't think Dolores want to build a new virtual world. She decline that way in season 2, because she said: "Because reality is unexchangeable".
Yeah how creative, bring Lawrence back for absolutely no reason with one speaking scene lol...two thumbs up guys...
I love that you mentioned Halo, haha - great videos! I watch one after every episode!
Maeve is so boring..Completely forget about man in black and the guest killing her repeatedly and now totally focus on revenge for the person who she thought is dead 2 episode ago. Her motivation is so shallow.
Shame, i really like the actress but she has nothing to work with. :/
I really like how you explain every episode. Really great!
8:54 this show seems to be predicting quite a lot
Where is season finale’s explanation?
Given how complicated this show is, I bet it's taking longer than usually to put the video together.
