This most recent outpouring of videos has been fantastic, from the Sword and Sorcery videos (with the images and music) to these thoughtful discussions of RPG board games. I have to add, seeing Eldritch Horror and all these newer RPG games discussed - honestly, as a 70's-80s DnD guy, I am almost overwhelmed and wouldn't know where to start with all this. Looks fun though. Even so, your channel has been a blast so thanks.
Thanks! There are a lot of great RPG style games out there to enjoy these days. Too many! I would think a good place to start might me the Journey in Middle Earth game from Fantasy Flight Games
I love how Harrison Quartermaine pays homage to Indiana Jones Also a big fan of Alligator Mcphee which is a homage to Crocodile Dundee they should do a Lara Croft homage
@@TheDungeonDive sure, I was thinking about the 10,000 different decks of cards and the pulpyness. but I guess anything pulpy will have a similar feel! happy gaming in the new year!
This seems very similar to Eldritch Horror where Adventure = Encounter cards, with successes on 5's and 6's. Except in this game has a tile system instead of a static map. (I never played any of the Arkham Horror games.)
One of the main differences is that in the Arkham games, the players are usually far behind the ball, and just barely scraping by. Lost Tomb is more of a power fantasy, where the players rush head first into danger and destroy it.
@@TheDungeonDive no official merch then, what kind of storage solution is this? Is it specifically for board games and cards, or a general hobby organiser?
This game does look like a lot of fun - any idea why it's got lower ratings on Boardgamegeek in comparison to other games on your favourite list in general? I was thinking it is perhaps the randomness but then Shadows of Brimstone is also very random and score much higher on Boardgamesgeek.
Not sure. Some BGG ratings are terrible. People rate games they haven’t played and games that aren’t even out yet. I usually just as ratings as a rough estimate.
I love the artistic design of this boardgame. It looks like a Mummy's film themed boardgame.

And Allan Quatermain, created by H. Rider Haggard, who was the inspiration for Indiana Jones!
Been playing Adventuria adventure card game today but now you got me thinking I should play Secrets of the lost tomb.....Decisions, decisions.
Why not both! :)
@@TheDungeonDive If only there were more hours in a day.
Haha. The cold hard truth.
In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room!
My favorite Disneyland attraction!
I get a heavy Shadows of Brimstone vibe
A little bit. Pretty different in actual execution. The quests are fare more detailed, and it’s a zero to hero game.

Yes! Thematically, for sure. Both got that strong pulp vibe. Happy new year!

They share some mechanisms, totally, but they have very different feels.

where do i get one of those dungeon dive card holders?
I just made that by gluing some printed paper to it. :)

It's the Hold It Card Organizer. But they don't make them any more.
The style of the game looks like '90 not even beginning of 2000... I really hope that if there is a restyling they will update the graphics
It’s not a pretty game. :)
I was shocked to learn this came out in 2015 (after Eldritch Horror).
Fidialy game but so good 😊
