I met Robert Englund in 2016, about 4 months after the passing of my best friend. I started crying as soon as I saw him, “nightmare on elm street,” was me and my best friends favorite. I told Mr. Englund about my best friend, he then said, “Sarah lives here now. When you want to see her close your eyes and dream of her,” as he placed his finger on my temple. I will
Never forget that moment. I will always be a fan of him. I met him at the “walker stalker convention,” in Nashville Tn.
That's sweet, but also creepy if you think of it as Freddy Kruger saying it. 😂
sharksandsheep The irony of it 😂
Slasher actors are usually the best humans in the world
William Johnson Robert Englund will forever be my hero. I’ll never forget the moment I met him and how he helped me.
That's a great story. To make humor of it at first when you said he placed his finger I couldn't help but to think of him wearing a glove. But for real that's amazing and true what he said. So glad you had that experience with him

Freddy's reaction seeing Nancy was the cherry on top. It's that little detail of storyline , where Freddy sees the first individual to defeat him. The parallels of Nancy's and Kristin's powers is nice.

My favorite Nightmare movie. I liked the idea of characters realizing that Freddy isn't the only one with powers in the dream world. Of course Freddy has all the most overpowered abilities but giving his victims the ability to fight back a little bit makes things more interesting
I agree. I know James thinks (or maybe thought and doesn't think so anymore) it doesn't track with the lore of the original but I don't think dream powers are too outlandish. They're pretty cool and are merely introducing a new element to the lore. Plus, it gives us something different than pulling him into the real world. It doesn't contradict anything like the second movie does and it doesn't get too weird and nonsensical like Alice getting her friends' personality traits and Kristen's dream power...or the whole Freddy injecting souls into Alice's baby thing. Dream Warriors gave it a cool extra fantasy element.

I'll never not be sad about Nancy's death. She's my favourite final girl of all time and was one of my first crushes ever. And to this day Heather Langenkamp is _still_ a beautiful woman.

I’ve always loved that Kincaid says “I’m gonna last longer than any of you” and he makes it to part 4
The true miracle of this movie is that Kincaid wasn’t sent to jail for the 3 bodies found in the straight talk room with him
I think about that a lot. Who discovered them? Did they have visible wounds from where Freddy killed them? I've always been curious how that was handled.
@@TjMetalHead94 most likely the other doctor or Lawerence Fishburn found them. I doubt they had physical injuries as Freddy didn’t cut them up, & an autopsy probably would have shown Tara dying from an overdose of an unknown substance.
@@peterdanior4538 The continuity of wounds in the real world from Freddy has always been inconsistent. In NOES1 we can clearly see Freddys claws slice up Tina in the real world. Freddy used his Glove to kill Will and Nancy so I'm sure wounds would've appeared.
@@TjMetalHead94 I think when Freddy slashes someone, the cuts do appear IRL, like with Tina or Mark from FvJ. However when Kincaid is killed in Part 4, it looks more like he has a heart attack as a wound doesn't appear in his gut where he was stabbed.
@@peterdanior4538 Exactly! Knowing the chaos behind these movies i understand why the continuity is terrible though. But now I realize that Freddy probably can control how the wounds appear irl. Its part of his genius of making the living victims look insane to their parents.

I've gotta say the marionette death gets me the most. The imagery is so shocking and uncomfortable if you aren't expecting it. Gave me the same feeling as the 'getting sucked into the bed and regurgitated out' death from the first.
That one always gets to me because anything involving wrist cutting makes me super squeamish.
I love this video but I am glad James has slowed down a bit in his delivery during the counts. (Either he slowed down or didn't cut out the pauses as much?) Either way, time to breathe and for the jokes *and* the kills to simmer a bit more really works for me.

Taryn's death always hit's me hard. So does most of the character's deaths throughout this installment. Film debut of Patricia Arquette.
This is the first movie in which the main antagonist is called by the name "Freddy" Krueger. In the first two films, he is called "Fred" Krueger.
Once after a tiring day on set, Robert Englund fell asleep in his dressing room still in full Freddy make-up. When he awoke and looked in the mirror he got a terrible scare.
Winona Ryder auditioned for the role of Kristen. But director Chuck Russell felt that Ryder was too young for the role. Ryder would later become engaged to Johnny Depp who starred in the first film of the series
Originally, Taryn's character's head was to explode after being injected with Freddy's syringes, but it looked too fake.
Director Chuck Russell stated in a interview that the mirror sequence was very difficult to do. He stated that it was before CGI, so that they "had to get really inventive". They were literally manipulating Mylar in front of the camera to get the shot done.
In the original script, one of the Warriors dreams up a giant Transformers-style robot to fight Freddy. The sequence even made it into the storyboards stage, but budgetary constraints made filming it impossible.
The only film out of the first six to not begin with a nightmare scene.
@@frde2190 In the end, Nancy calls him Freddy, too.

was binge-watching these kill counts after watching the movies for myself (and having something on while I play animal crossing), and the message at 10:22 made me literally have to pause and cry out of joy. I was the result of assault and abuse, and it's had a huge effect on me, and hearing that from a creator I really love made my day infinitely better. I don't know if you still read these comments james, but thank you.
Dead meat: “Ooh! Cryptic!
Me, whispering to myself: “tv...”
Funny...
I think it'd be cool if CryptTV was called CrypticTV
Gacha Chara ! Get of this app gaycha

This film is a masterpiece! It has characters we care about. The actors are good and the pacing of the film is perfect. Nancy's character is well developed and we care about her. I loved the characters getting super powers and how the film builds up to the climax. Nancy's death is the saddest in horror film history.
It is
Stayed home from school because I have the flu but this made my day 1,000 times better thank you James
3 is by far my favorite NOES movie just because it balances humor with horror
My dream super power is being so freakin loud and annoying that anyone joining me in my dream dies in their sleep
The dream powers bit was actually foreshadowed back in the first film.
Wes Craven did a lot of research on dreams, and one thing he came across that was referenced in dialogue in the first film was a way of essentially teaching kids lucid dreaming, the example given that if you dream you're falling, think you can fly, and now you're having a dream about flying. The main point of the scene was foreshadow Nancy's way of beating Freddy by turning her back on him and withdrawing the energy she gave him, but since Wes Craven did help develop the story for this one, it works to foreshadow this film, too.
The powers were kind of obvious and not terribly creative, but horror movie on a budget and all. It's still an interesting concept and I like how it was used to give the kids the ability to fight back against the otherwise unstoppable Freddy.
Welcome to the comment section, straight talk only in here
Allan J Katsuro This is it. I just found the greatest reply of all time.
Allan J Katsuro No, but you can talk about ADIDAS!!!!!!
Squishy Amari no street talk only!
14:00 If you said “Oh yea, show him what it’s like to be the only black guy not to die first in a horror film” I woulda lost it 😂😂
Well he did in the fourth movie first I think
Nobody talks about the effects in these films. It's weird to think but it was seen as blockbusters and so the studios had the best vfx and practical teams in the world for this series and it really shows.
EVERYBODY talks about the effects.
“Okay when did everybody decide they get two turns?! Can we please have some order here??” 😂
I kind of wish i had popcorn right now.

Freddy 2: *quaking*
It's me, I'm Freddy 2.
Honestly, Will was my favorite character and was sad to see him die and it doesn’t help to see him get dull machete.
My favorite sequel, almost reach the original's quality. Maybe "New Nightmare" right next to it but I'll have to rewatch it since I'm finally trying to become a "Nightmare" completist.
Always a good watch, James.
