In lots of kids shows they always seem to have the boy who’s “innocent and sweet but nerdy and doesn’t know how to talk to girls” but in that the guy seems to harass the girls or act inappropriately around them but we’re told that they’re harmless and sweet? Something odd I notice we grew up with

I find it kinda odd how Robbie being genuinely creepy around his female cohorts is played up for laughs. Despite that, I found their interactions very cute. Robbie always seemed affectionate towards Cat specifically, and if he had more character development they'd be one of the best couples in the show.
I can admit Robbie can come off a social awkward even though I love him, I don’t think he knows how to express or confess to females despite becoming more confident later on
He's definitely creepy towards her, and I think they played it for laughs because of Dan Schneider, considering the truly disgusting and traumatizing things he did, he probably made it like that so we wouldn't notice the nastiness of it.
I also feel like the oddly placed laugh tracks are deliberate. It's the show trying to be self-aware and saying "hey, this is written to be funny, and here's a laugh track. We know you are not laughing along, let's ask ourselves why?" I"ve always felt like Victorious is meant to be social satire of growing up and high school and by extension, celebrity culture and how it warps the way teenagers think and feel. Maybe I'm going to deep, but as someone who has a degree in film, I've always believed that creators can do whatever they want, and it is us, the audience, and the way we choose to react to a piece of work, that shows us who we truly are as people.

Mmmmm while the 'pirate' game does sound alarming, I don't think its as bad as we think it is since Jade knows about it as well and I feel like if Robbie had done something really bad Jade would have been angrier with him so he was probably just being kind of weird and Cat didn't like it but that's just my thoughts lol
That’s a valid argument. I might just be projecting onto the character, but maybe she downplayed it? Or maybe she begged Jade not to get mad or get him in trouble? I know that that’s what I’ve done when things like that happen to me. It feels less scary to just ignore the problem and not involve any authority figures or anything. But, once again, self-projection can be common with fictional characters that we relate to/liken ourselves to, so this might just be me projecting.
I thought about the sexual component too but I honestly feel like it's more likely that he just played (literally played the game) too rough, and scared her. And I also think that while there are a lot of double antandres (cannot spell) the thing about "I don't want to see that thing again" was not sexual. Man probbakt has a dead beetle collection or something.

Too many kids shows involve the boy wearing the girl down and ignoring her disinterest several times. And the boy is characterised as someone that can’t help it & is just geeky/awkward instead of invasive and disrespectful of someone’s boundaries. It completely sends the wrong message.

It really sucks that a lot of shows try to teach little boys that that’s okay, and an acceptable way to get what you want.

When a man is relentless in pursuing a woman, it is portrayed as comically pathetic and even endearing. When a woman is relentless in pursuing a man, she is portrayed as not right in the head. That woman is usually hated by everyone. Since the woman, who relentlessly pursues a man is usually ugly, her actions are usually played for gross out humor. I call this trope the Abhorrent admirer.

I do love their friendship, but jade is a much better friend to cat. She would drop anything to help her and when cat gave jade the perfect gift, that smile on jade’s face. Priceless. Also cat and jade always have fun singing together.

My head cannon is that cat gets too involved in her imagination. Like one episode she makes finger guns then says "don't worry, they're not real". I think when they play pirates, it becomes too real for cat, and she freaks out.
I am a strong Cabbie fan. They are both immature weirdos and flaws and all, they are funny, caring and sweet to each other in an earnest way. They will forever be my favorite characters/ship in Victorious.

0:25 Hints? It is pretty much directly stated. In season 4 episode 2 "Hambone King" Bobbie and Cat meet a guy at Nozu and the dude mistakenly believes that Cat is Robbie's girl. If I remember correctly, this guy was rude and disrespectful to Cat. Robbie corrects they guy. After Robbie points out that Cat is not his girl, he turns to her and says "unless you wanna be." Cat says "I'm good." Then, if I recall correctly, Robbie defends Cat's honor. That's how I remember it.
Hence why he said many hints not that it wasn't directly stated.

If you ask me, as the series went on, Robbie's feeling towards Cat seemed to get more genuine and less a nerdy guy liking a pretty girl who is out of his league. And at the same time, Robbie seems to dial back his creepy / Inappropriate behaviour.
I agree. And honestly I have a thing for nerdy guys so if these were real people I would be much quicker to date Robbie instead of Beck or Andre.
This is kind of off-topic, but would you consider making a video on how the show SHOULD HAVE ended? The show was cancelled and didn't have a proper finale, so what do you think would happen in a perfect VICTORIOUS finale special/movie.
I always thought it would have been nice if, at the end of the show, Trina discovered that she's not talented and had to learn to accept that and grow from that.
I also thought it would have been nice to see certain characters get together. For example, I also like the idea of Jade and Andre and wish the show went somewhere with the Andre-has-a-crush-on-Jade plot. ;) It would have been cute if there was a scene where Andre sings the original version of "365 Days" (i.e. the version in which he sings "Jade" instead of "Baby") and Jade chimes in mid-song, singing Tori's parts. I also like Cat and Robbie, Tori and Beck, Trina and Sinjin.
I remember him saying something about the gang having to battle a gang like their's but from Northridge and then Trina being the one who has to battle them on a live
i would've really liked to see tori and andre have a little bit of a relationship. while i did like their platonic friendship, they most definitely could've grown as partners. whenever andre had a problem he would almost ALWAYS go to tori, same for tori.
I recently wrote some scenes with Trina and sinjin in them. I thought i was the only one. I started to ship them after sinjin defended Trina to the group. Sinjin was not always bad. Why did the creator have to make almost all the guys creepy? Wait, don’t answer that.

In my head cannon, they are a good couple. I feel if it were not for dan schendier’s writing, we would not being seeing these problematic and perverted men.
I can see how some may see them as a bad couple, but i feel they would always be there for each other and have a mature friendship and relationship. Even victoria justice has them get married in her script for the victorious finale.

2:41- 3:07 Cat was obviously conflicted. She did not want to go to the dance with Robbie, but was mad when he went with Gabriella. She claimed to be happy for Robbie (to his face) but then let out her anger when she was alone. I am impressed by Cat's ability to contain emotions. While that is not the best attitude to have, your actions matter significantly more (in the grand scheme of things) than your thoughts. That being said, I do not think that Cat really did anything wrong.

It deeply disturbs me how Cats voice progressively became more infantilized as the series went on. In the beginning of the first season she sounds normal but for the rest... it bad

1:48- 2:05 Two things...
1. That was a great innuendo. I am not even sure I can call it an innuendo. Innuendos are supposed to be subtle. That was not subtle at all.
2. Why did Robbie and Cat give the thugs their Pajelehoochos? Initially, Robbie did not want to and then Cat reminded them of the deal that they made with Sikowitz. However, when they made that deal, Sikowitz cited an exception for anything dangerous or illegal.
I suppose one alternative explanation could be that they were afraid the thugs might hurt them (i.e. physically assault them). However, putting aside the fact that Robbie initially did not want to and Cat specifically said that they have to because of the deal that they made with Sikowitz, Cat and Robbie could have just retreated.
Cat and Robbie both have their own issues to deal with. Putting those two together would be unhealthy for either one of them, for Cat in particular. A romantic relationship between them would be toxic...
True or somehow they're good for each other and they make the relationship work but who's to say 🤷

Arianna and Matt Bennett do have great chemistry and it’s nice that their real life friendship continued after the show since she had him in her One Last Time and Thank U Next music videos
There's this one channel that talked about Robbie specifically saying that he and Rex are the same person, which might make sense, but at the same time, it doesn't seem possible. The two are so different from each other. When they're alone, it feels like Robbie is talking to a real person.
But, even though Robbie always seems like an innocent guy, he could be a real monster on the inside. Maybe Rex is that monster.

It probably isn't a coincidence that historical pirates had the tendency to humiliate their captives which could possibly include degrading sexual intercourse.

Just want to put my 2 cents In here:
I believe that Rex was entirely behind the whole pirate thing. I know Robbie controls Rex, but I think Rex is just how Robbie communicates things he can’t implement elsewhere. If anything happened with pirates and Cat, I believe it started with Robbie being Rex. With that being said, I also don’t think the pirate thing was anything major. If it was, I doubt Jade, beck, or Andre would let Robbie near Cat again. I’m guessing Cat just didn’t like how Robbie played pirates, simple as that.

I think Robbie's Mamma being so terrible to Cat is a contributing factor to her not wanting to get in a serious relation with Robbie.
The only reason why cat and Robbie were put together in the show is because they’re both the strangest characters of their respective genders in the cast. Aside from that I don’t think they’re compatible at all. Robbie’s creepy and predatory, cat’s naive and childlike. They have a very unsettling dynamic.
I can admit that Robbie can come off as social awkward but I wouldn’t see him as a predator. I think he needs help when it comes to talking to females

growing up brings the reality we didnt understand when we were kids..
I feel like Jori and Cabbie are the most complicated ships from the show but Jori is less problematic in a way. I was a big Cabbie fan untill I watched hariyanna's hook opinion vid about Robbie and I realised how creepy he really is so I have mixed feelings about the ship now. If it wasn't for that pirates thing I would be 100% for this ship. I found the I think you are swell scene and when he told Cat that any guy would be lucky to go out with her relatable to myself and my experience with feelings so ye. That scenes were adorable but is a complicated relationship in more than one way.

Can we talk about Cat's Inconsistent feats of strength? Like one minute she's about to break a chair pretty easily just by chucking it at a wall. Then the next she's unable to take a Teddy bear from a 10 year old. And then she's able to take down the flower bomber

Do you think ms benson is too overprotective/a helicopter parent, is she acting as a normal concerned mother who means well or is she bordering toxic behavior by trying to control so much of his life. The show's infantilisation of cat paired with robbie's predatory comments and innapropriateness leaves me with a really gross feeling... Their dynamic is far more reminiscent of a child and their abuser than two teenagers romantically interested in eachother.
Most of my observations have been covered in the comments, but i would like to draw attention specifically to the fact that cat's refusal of her feelings for him could (with the 'pirate' thing's hints at sexual assault) be because part of her feels like that means she must have liked what he did to her- and thus, she can't have feelings for him because that would invalidate her trauma. It is a very common response in survivors of sexual assault or abuse to develop feelings, especially in one where the assaulter in question is so affectionate and their age. They justify the event and trick themselves into believing it was something they should be happy about, convincing themselves that they are the ungrateful ones. Robbie's behaviour and overt favouritsm of cat, as much as it may be genuine from his point of view, is a method of grooming and attempting to coerse her into positive feelings of him. Showering people in gifts and compliments is often a response to guilt from the assaulter. They justify it to themselves as well, telling themselves theyre making up for it, or that their victim actually wanted it and is just shy.
It is extemely unhealthy, and honestly speaks volumes about dan schnider if we didnt already know, since he doubtlessly pulls from his own experiences for robbie. Robbie doesnt *care* if cat is uncomfortable. Or that she flat out rejects him so often. If anything, it wouldnt surprise me if he believes she belongs to him in some way when you consider how he has responded to romantic encounters previously. The idea of the only girl he has sexually advanced with, would create the kind of obsession we see he has with cat throughout the show. Which...explains even more in regards to smaller details, like how he brought cat to meet his grandmother in a way that he would most likely believe is very romantic and generous of him.
He is honestly a disgusting character, and if it weren't unintentional, i would commend the accuracy to real life sexually abusive situations. Unfortunately, the most accurate reflections of the darker side of humanity often come from perpetrators themselves.

Also in season 1 ep.6 when Cat and Trina were rapping a song in the car cat stopped and refused to sing the next line because it was 'dirty' and then later on in season 3 ep.8 in the party bus they were singing a song called '5 fingers to the face' which was the same rap song that cat and Trina were singing in the car but the version they did was acapella, the line that cat said was 'dirty' was actually the words "I'm a pirate and you're my booty,arg" so this probably means that she thought the word 'booty' was a swear word or a dirty word. So when Robbie would play pirates with her, he would probably do something dirty to her, and also maybe she thought pirates was a bad thing because of what Robbie would do.
I honestly think that maybe the pirate part might be just him "actually" acting like a pirate
you know like "walk to the plank and be devoured by the sharks harhar" more morbid part
it might be possible at least for me seeing how easely cat gets upset and how it's mentioned she hates horror movies
I hope that you’re right, but even so, it is still kind of a red flag that both she and Jade have made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t like to play pirates with him because it’s upsetting, and yet he still carries on offering to play pirates again, even going so far as to get and eyepatch for it. I don’t know, though, it just is kind of off-putting that he wouldn’t respect her enough to not do something that upsets her so much, you know?
I'm impressed by the amount of realism in Robbie's "nice guy" character. They usually portray the geek dude as this cliché lovable loser type

Maybe cat has an anxious avoidant attachment style. She wants the boy but when she has him she gets anxiety and freaks out and pushes away
I think he had most character development. He was so weird when it came to love, sometimes the interactions felt more like assault. But it seems like he changed and now isn’t that bad although he still isn’t perfect when it comes to love, but I think it’s because he doesn’t really have a proper example, since his parents are hardly mentioned and his mom refuses to even live with him

Just so yall know the Pirates theory is just a theory. If anything on the surface it just feels like a really silly gag and nothing else. Alot of people are jumping to this theory to accuse Rob of being someone who sexually assaults. He has far other examples of being creepy, this one is literally just a theory.

It is 100% just a theory/audience conjecture. And, honestly, I hope that we’re wrong, because if that’s the innuendo that was intended, then that’s really very very upsetting. For me, it may also be a partial self-projection, since I relate to Cat as a character, and have had some scary experiences with guys like that. But projection and conjecture does not equal canon, so I honestly really really hope that you’re right, and that it isn’t anything as bad as what a lot of us make it out to be.

I would like to say that Robbie matured over the course of the series and his feelings for Cat were definitely real. No one writes a song like “I Think You’re Swell” without having serious feelings for someone. I think that it’s really Cat that can’t bring herself to admit her feelings to Robbie. I agree with the other person who posted below that her brother may have a lot to do with how Cat approaches relationships with other people. Based on what Car tells us about her brother, he has serious mental issues and is eventually taken by her parents to an inpatient treatment facility in another state. This would have been a good place for Cat to start on her journey to moving past whatever abuse she suffered by her brother. She seems to have a need for others to like her no matter what the cost as shown in “The Blonde Squad” when she kept up the facade of being a blonde even after finding out the guy she liked didn’t like people who pretend to be something they aren’t. Even after Robbie pours his heart out to her by singing his song she is still desperate for the other guy to like her and muses about maybe dying her hair blonde. This is after it is very clear the guy doesn’t want anything to do with her. I think that if Cat and Robbie did start dating, they would need to have a serious conversation about boundaries. I think Robbie likes Cat so much he would take the relationship at whatever pace felt right for Cat. She would have to tell him many more details about her relationship with her brother and how that factors into how she is thinking about dating him. Robbie is a patient guy, sometimes to a fault. He knows Cat is worth waiting for. Cat would definitely need some serious therapy to help her deal with her family life and perhaps by working through those issues, it would help her come to terms with her feelings for Robbie. She’s in a very conflicted place by the end of the series. As stated in this video, Cat isn’t sure she’s ready to date Robbie but doesn’t want him dating anyone else either. However, she does admit to Robbie at the school dance that she was unnecessarily jealous of the fact that he brought another date. She also said she should have just said yes when he asked her to be his date. I would want to see at least one more episode of Victorious for many reasons, but in terms of the content of this video, I would want Cat and Robbie to finally have a serious conversation about the feelings they have for each other and finally agree to start dating.
I you were forgetting one key point in this video. We can see A LOT of Robbie's inappropriate behavior through Rex. Rex is constantly catcalling, making inappropriate comments, and overall just a little vulgar at times and because Robbie is speaking through Rex we can only assume this is what Robbie is thinking or feeling. So it should come as no surprise when he acts inappropriately towards a girl he really does like. He probably has no idea of expressing that any other way.
