Took me 4 days to finish this one. I always saved it for the end of the day when I was done everything and winding down for bed, and every single time, I’d watch about 7 minutes, and doze off. I knew that cabin seemed familiar. My late grandpa used to take me, my cousins and other family members up there in the summers. Seeing that cabin again put the biggest smile on my face. It has been years since I’ve seen it.
I believe I stayed on that very lake in 1982 when I was a kid. They flew us out of Atikokan in a pontoon plane and left us for 5 days and 5 nights. We had that entire giant lake to ourselves and it was beautiful.

Is your jackery ruined? Be careful because those lithium batteries can catch fire from water getting on them. I know it sounds crazy but my husband was a manager at a battery company and he said those were a nightmare
Good tip. People should listen. And put those things in hvy duty leaf bags tied tight shut to travel through wet weather. Or a Pelican box for small items like camera or phone.
Wouldn’t you use this if it’s cold out or raining? I mean in the morning there’s dew and humidity in the air already so ..

For this summer you could do a full exploration of the dempster Highway ! Hiking mountains and fly fishing the blackstone river for big Arctic grayling !
Spotting plenty of animals all of the way ! Talking and sharing with the nice people of Tuktoyaktuk. Middle of June is a good time in my opinion. I had very few mosquitos.
Best kind of video📹 to unwind is seeing you guys fishing 🎣 and 🍳 and all the adventure that follow 🐟 ❤️.
I watch these videos just because of the serene nature and beauty of it all. The calm quiet sounds of the winter on the lake. The light falling of rain turned snow. It's a peace you can't get in a city or town. It's just different. Too bad everyone don't get the opportunity to just willingly unplug for awhile and experience this stuff.

Great post! Lots going on this trip! Many days and a nice cabin to stay in. Looks like y'all had a good time. One thing though. You kill me with going through all the trouble and work to catch a good size fish and you put it back! I understand if the fish is too small and in many cases it isn't legal to catch small fish and I can see putting back a prego female. But it looked like you had some nice keepers there, especially trout. That wouldn't have gone back in my book. Can't wait for the next adventure!

I’m a weather nerd and definitely agree El Niño has brought us some interesting weather across the country. She’s officially out now though and we’re in a neutral pattern and waiting for La Niña later this year. You’ll have plenty of snow for the 2024/2025 winter. Even here in the PNW we get a short blast of winter in the lowlands mostly in January. This year was a total bust for us as well. Even our Mountains both Cascades and Olympics didn’t fare well. This fall and winter though should be interesting with La Niña’s arrival.

Mav you need to trout fish the white river in Cotter Ark. I recommend a guide so you can get out on the river. April and May are great time and there is a camp ground.
Horrible winter all around. Northern Michigan was weiiiird. 68 degree day in late February. Week of 60 degrees after. Then 2 weeks of snow lakes locked back up. 2 days later 60 degrees. Still chasing the fish though! 💪 keep on trucking man!

I have the same sled setup as you. I went to my local gravel pit and asked if they had some old belt material. 3 screws 1ft. of that belt keeps your sled clean. It folds under when you use reverse but strong enough to keep the slush downwhen traveling.
