  • We love Italy (it is one of our favorite European countries to visit as a family) and we are having a wonderful time as we explore this beautiful country.
We are actually spending 3 months travelling from the North of Italy all the way down to Sicily.
    We are travelling through Italy with 3 kids. Ages: 2 year's, 9 year's and 13 year's old.
So here are the pros and cons about visiting Italy with a baby or toddler. You can find any products that we mention in our toddler travel essentials guide here: www.wanderlust...
Here are the PROS of going on a family holiday to Italy with your baby.
    1) You can top up on baby supplies easily
    2) Our toddler absolutely loved all the animals that you will find everywhere in Austria.
    3) Most Airbnb's and hotels had baby cots (and sometimes other baby equipment) free of cost. (we only had 2 charge us out of about 15 places). The cots come with sheets, baby blankets and pillows - perfect.
    4) Kids under 3 are free for ferries, attractions etc.
    5) Italians love kids
    6) Most people can understand English and will make every effort to help you if you need
    7) If your little one is eating, you can find kid-friendly food everywhere
    8) You can easily rent a car seat
Here are the NEGATIVES of going on a vacation to Italy with your baby or toddler.
    1) Expect lots of stairs in villages, towns and cities so bring a baby carrier and a stroller
    2) Airbnb's often are located on higher levels with many stairs to climb - enquire beforehand if you prefer to not drag your baby and luggage upstairs. Parking is also typically located a fair way away from the accommodation.
    3) Check to see if your car seat fits in the Italian cars before you bring it over.
We understand that other families might have completely different experiences as they travel around Italy and we invite you to share your experiences in our comments below to help families with young kids to decide whether this is the country for them.
