Yummm... you always come up with so many wonderful things from my childhood when I lived on my grandparents farm , best part of my childhood !! I love yall ...such sweet loving enjoyable couple !! Bless you both & your family !!🙏❤️
When I have cornbread left over . I take a knife and gently slice off the bottom and top . Then crumble the inside and put in a small zip lock bag an lay in the freezer . Then I have bread crumbs when I need them .
Oh my goodness the memories. Cornbread Salad is a must have in the south 🥰 with so many variations it’s amazing! We make a pickled cornbread salad too with homemade cornbread, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, and peppers. Plus bacon and cheese added just before serving. We make cornbread a day early and leave it sit out to harden a little before we crumble it. Then the day we make it add your veggies and use a homemade vinegar based dressing or use Italian dressing. Pour over lightly to coat. Mix lightly, Add bacon mix in, Sprinkle top with cheese. We just love it. Thank you for sharing. ♥️.
Yea!!!! So good to see my favorite couple on a snowy morning in Indiana!!!!! Love and God bless you both!!!! I made your fried chicken!!!! My husband said Mr. BROWN SURE IS A LUCKY MAN!
I like good cornbread salad! Used to have a deli near me that had a lady come in and make her recipe. I like pintos and green onions in it ,oh yeah makes your mouth water just talking about it! We had some wildfires in our area,it was smoky for 3 days last week, thankfully we got rain yesterday morning. It turned colder last night and Mr. Brown repeated our temperatures for next week. Looks like Novembers I remember cloudy and cold. A fire in the woodstove sounds good! ❤️Love from KY ☺️!
Good morning Miss Lori! This looks dee-licious and looks like the 7-layer dip that's real popular here in central California. It uses pretty much all of the same ingredients except in place of bacon, we use browned hamburger meat with your favorite taco seasoning and tortilla chips in place of the corn bread. I think this will be a new side dish for our Thanksgiving table this year and in keeping with your theme of not going out and buying a bunch of ingredients at the store, these are things I keep stocked in my pantry and fridge so I already pretty much have everything I need. Can't wait to try this! Mr. Man brought the wood box up to the back porch a week ago and we started burning in our stove...it sure keeps us warm and cozy now that our days are staying in the 50's during the day and high 30's to low 40's overnight. Thank you for another great recipe and as always, we send love and blessings to you and Mr. Brown!❤🙏
In the Tennessee valley where I come from we made something similar and it was called summer dressing.😅 We made at least 2 to 3 pans of it to take to church dinner on the ground/homecoming and it was gone about as fast as you could turn your head. Recipe: a pan of jiffy corn bread crumbled into a bowl, but the only vegetables used were sweet bell pepper & tomatoes & onions chopped. Can put all those in one bowl stir them together if you want to or separate them. The dressing is 2 cups of mayonnaise or miracle whip and 2/3 cup of bread and butter pickle juice. If you want the dressing thicker then you could add another cup of mayonnaise or miracle whip. Some like it thicker some don’t. In a flat container such as a cake pan, layer the cornbread, vegetables, 1/2 of dressing and then make a second layer of cornbread, vegetables, dressing and lastly a few vegetables sprinkled on top of the dressing to make it pretty. For an 8 x 8 or 9 x 9 pan you use one pan of cornbread but for a 9x13 pan you would use 2 boxes/pans of cornbread & some people use 3 boxes/pans of cornbread for a 9 x 13 size. My grandmother made this stuff all summer long and she ate a little bit of it just about every day. It’ll keep for several days covered in the refrigerator. I think it tastes even better after it’s been refrigerated for a few hours before it’s served. It gives the flavors time to marry.
As always another gift from God today!❤ Boy do I miss good cornbread. I used to grind My own cornmeal and grits back in the day. Just can’t eat that kind of thing anymore.
I love cornbread salad! I don’t use a sweet cornbread mix ever. I just use just regular cornbread-no sugar. But I’m sure it’s very good using the sweet cornbread-everyone’s different! 😊
I never had a cornbread salad so I need to try this recipe. Ms Lori, when you said you made it with Mayo before you might want to try 2/3 Mayo and 1/3 Ranch dressing. ( or any ratio) This it what I use for my chicken salad. 💛
This is a new recipe to me, but so was Miss Lori's cracker salad. I love cornbread with everything so I will try this soon. Be blessed as you both are highly favored.
I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s when I was in my 30s. Because of my family history - she was really my one and only connection. When I watch your videos it’s like being with my mom again - after 30 years. Thank you.
Blessins Mr and Mrs Brown from Chicago at 35 degrees. You had me with the thumbnail. Mr Brown looks happy. You 2 were blessed to find one another and we are blessed with you sharing your lives with us.
Good Morning, Mrs. Lori . Thanks for sharing your cornbread salad . Looks so pretty and delicious . The one I ate was different . It was made like a potato salad . Enjoy the grandbaby visiting . The Lord Bless All Of You .
Looks so good! Cant wait to make this. When I see you & Mr. Brown together, I cant help but smile. You guys are awesome. Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
I don’t normally like Jiffy because it’s too sweet, but it’s almost a must to use in Cornbread Salad. Something about that sweet cornbread with all the savory in the dish makes it so good.
I love cornbread salad and I’m normally not a sweet cornbread girl but with this I think it’s best for the sweet/salty contrast. I make mine in a 9x13. Great recipe.
Years ago, my mama gave me a cookbook that had a recipe for cornbread salad. It quickly became a family favorite that I make every year for Thanksgiving. I have used Jiffy corn muffin mix, but usually, I make the sweet cornbread the recipe calls for. I always make a lot and we eat on it for days, even as the main course, that's how much we like it.
I’m gunna make this tonight Miss Lori!! This sounds heavenly…. I sent my man to the store for beans, the only thing I don’t have!! I’m fresh out of my canned beans 😬😅 I love Jiffy and also Bisquick, I always keep both in my pantry!! Sending love to you both from Oregon 💕❤️🙏🏼
I remember my Grandmaw making this recipe! Lord, I forgot about it and now I wanna make me one! Thank you Miss Lori for making this n reminding me of some good eatin! Y'all stay warm, it's gettin to be cold weather here in N Ga mtns! Prayers n Love God Bless. 🙏❤☺

Miss Lori , you always have the best side dishes . It looks so delicious. I wish I could still cook but unfortunately another love of mine was taken with my MS. Blessings to you and Mr.Brown🙏🙏🙏
I love a cornbread salad. I do make my own buttermilk cornbread. I have no objection to using Jiffy Mix. I use it when I make a corn casserole. That salad looks scrumptious! I hope that you and Mr. Brown and your family will have a blessed Thanksgiving.
I just love y’all… Ms Lori reminds me of my Mother when she was younger, she would be 72 now. I’ve had to live out of state for a while & im very homesick. 😔 Your videos have been such a comfort to me! Thank you for that and I send Love & Light to you and your family…. Sincerely, Tracie ❤🙏
Miss Lori, I make my own cornbread but I used to make corn dogs for the kids with Jiff. It was perfect for that. My cornbread is made according to who is gonna eat it. Some don't like sugar some do. I do. Love you and all your recipes. Love Mr Brown too. Because you are both soooo real.
This looks so yummy 😋 I’ll be taking it to the family gathering for sure! Thank you for sharing it. Our temps have dropped to the mid-twenties the next while. The furnace is finally on 😄
