Thank you for this insight into work etc. The research is spot on .. I agree with all you say here . I am currently job seeking and let me tell you all out there it is a nightmare . There are so many hoops to go through in the process . All i see is rubbish jobs or highly skilled work . When you see a high turnover of staff you know something is amiss in the company . The amount of angry people who say there are plenty of jobs out there , but they need to do there research as the jobs are unsuitable for many people . When you spend so much time in work you want a enjoyable and rewarding time here or else mental health issues arise .
UC claimants are expected to apply for these minimum wage jobs and are expected to travel up to 90 mins to the job & 90 mins back. If claimants want to learn new skills by finding a course, this affects UC entitlement. They don't want claimants to learn skills or aspire to better themselves but just get any minimum wage job. Silly really as UC is still needed to top up the low wage.
I love your insights. Rent is ridiculously expensive, and not everyone can find cheap housing. The minimum wage is a joke. I often hear people say that those on benefits or low wages have new iPhones. I don’t think that’s always true. The iPhone might be second-hand or bought through an affordable plan. It seems ignorant when people complain about those who are struggling financially, without realizing that shops like CEX and Game exist, where you can get an old iPhone for £60/£70, which is obviously much more affordable than paying £1,000. Some people may even use savings or cut back in other areas to afford luxury items occasionally.
Haha…Naff is a great descriptor for most jobs out there. So many crap jobs with crap pay from majorly crap employers. So many employees are treated like absolute dirt and are hugely taken for granted and abused. And people wonder why people don’t want these jobs!??….completely ignorant and short sighted.
I had to turn down a job a few months ago as the train fare was £96 pounds a week to commute from my home to the job ( 30 miles ). My budget couldn't stretch to that.
Minimum wage (aka living wage) is designed to maximise profit. That's it. Minimum wage, minimum effort is absolutely right! Anyone expecting free hours or unpaid overtime, can expect two fingers and a "I quit".
Highly skilled can also mean it's a very niche skill that you need to be trained within the industry but employers don't want to do that investment. There's a niche job at my husband's place of work that they've never really filled with an appropriately experienced person because it's a bit of niche industry & skillset combination.. They really need to train someone up.
Yip! Its all very well all these available jobs, but with zero hour contracts and no employee benefits that don't even pay for the very basics of surviving it is totally absurd. I blame the business that take advantage of the current laws. If business(big or small) can't afford to pay really fair wages to compensate workers time, skills and effort then they need to either take a few less holidays or do the work themselves. I learnt a lot when I had a physical shop. It benefits a business more to take on many part time, zero hr employees and 'apprentices' aged 20 and under than it does to give some a good wage that comes with the the legal perks including pensions etc. Loved todays topic. Well done! :)
You can’t afford rent in a minimum wage job, let alone if you have a child. I have a friend whose fathers has her and their child. She works 40 hours a week at minimum wage, but even UC acknowledges that they have to pay for her and her child. She can’t afford the rent and will likely get something like 95% council tax reduction.
So true Claudia it’s the same in liesure centres some bosses don’t value there instructors although above minimum wage I only do a few hours now sometimes cover and they appreciate me so much more I’m not doing myself in for anyone lol love your black top ❤
I love the grounded reality of this channel!! Retirement took a toll on my finances, but I really thank God I am so excited without relying on the government my involvement in the digital market, $37,000 weekly returns has been life changing. AWESOME GOD❤️

I worked for 37 years and got made redundant few weeks ago. Finding it hard to get a new job. feel like giving up already.

Totally agree with you.. the folk who say there are lots jobs out there don't actually see what's out there .

Another brilliant and insightful post, thanks for sharing 🙂
I love the way you articulate yourself. Great channel. ❤
It’s the same here in Australia 😞

I find job searching totally demoralising. Beggars belief at some of the jobs advertised on indeed. A subway sandwich artist springs to mind.

Very true Claudia. And yes wages in healthcare are just a disgrace!
Great video , you explained it really well. It's not as easy as it seems just to 'get a job'
As someone who has always worked, it is certainly interesting to understand this better.
Wakey WAKEY people.....
There's more truth coming 😄

That's really interesting. I'm not sure I agree with minimum wage but I guess they have to have it if they have UC.
