To answer your initial question; yes, the footage was real. James Cameron and his team did multiples dives to capture the footage. Between having the ship blueprints and the footage, they were able to make the ship as authentic as possible.
You are right to an extent. The images in the mall tv screens you see are real footage from the wreck, however the actual wreck scenes were done in a model, they couldn’t get cameras down to the wreck site to film footage this good so a model was used instead. But the images you see on the small tv screens are real footage from Cameron’s dive.

In 1998 while Titanic was still being shown in Theaters, a woman in Australia had watched Titanic 100 times. I mean 99 times is OK, but one hundred? That's just plain crazy!
The character Kathy Bates played was the wealthy Socialite "THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN". Her story was best told in the movie of that same name played by Debbie Reynolds. really worth watching.
This was the era when we all had a crush on Leo 😊 saw this at the movies its first week out with my brother and father (RIH 😢) whole theatre was captivated by it .....we laughed, cried and gave it a standing ovation whole theatre when it came to an end ....
The shots in which you only see one submarine are the actual wreck filmed from the other sub. If you are seeing both subs in the frame, those are miniatures. Also, the sunken piano, shoe, eyeglass frame and doll's face were filmed in a tank in Escondido down here by San Diego. One more: when you're shown Ireland receding from the stern as Titanic starts across the Atlantic, you're really looking at Catalina Island.
Yep, you guessed it. He did dive to the wreak to get footage. Years later he dove again & even took Bill Paxton on a trip. Years after that, Jim did a solo dive to the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the of the ocean. He really loves the ocean. LOL!!!!😄 Oh, Great Bible Verse for the day.😊

Yes, the footage in the beginning has some real footage of the Titanic wreck.. they added some scenes, like they obviously didn't move anything or take a safe out, but many of the shots are indeed real.

The part where Cal flipped the table on Rose wasn’t scripted….Kate Winslet didn’t know he was gonna do that so that was her genuine reaction. Also, this movie caused Billy Zane to be one of the most hated actors ever even though in real life he’s so kind.
I heard the story from survivors who afterwards could not stand being in (or near) a full stadium of people. because that sound, the screaming, is what it sounded like when there were still people in the water. That stuck with me.

Hello my dear. I went to go see this movie when it first came out. I wanted to seei it on the big screen. I enjoying watching it again. I believe in letting people to enjoy what they love, as long as it's not hurting nobody or themselves. Great choice. Waiting on part 2.
My grandma used to own the vhs tapes of this movie, she loved it so much. I would watch it with her all the time but i always somehow felt so cold everytime we did, she said rose and jack reminded her of her and my grandfather cause he also saved her from an abusive relatiionship. I didnt watch it for a while after i turned into a teenager cause i had other interests and had school stuff to worry about, and my brain kind of pushed the movie to the back of my mind. When my grandma passed in 2016, i wanted to watch it again but couldnt bring myself to actually do so. A couple years ago, i was browsing netflix, i seen it on there and hit play, i couldnt stop crying through the whole tragedy part of the movie, i felt so cold, i started shivering uncontrollably, i disassociated and felt extremely cold water around me paralyising me. My husband believes in reincarnation, he thinks in a past life, i was also on the ship and passed in the water and its the reason i have that reaction each time ive watched the movie alone and had headphones on crying uncontrollably. Its easier to not disassociate during the tragedy scenes if my husband is there cause hell notice i start shivering and hold my hand and it brings me back. I can listen to the movie and be fine, ill know whats happening but when i physically see it in full by myself i have such a crazy body reaction. This is my favorite movie despite what it does to me. Its so well done and the accuracy of how the ship looks is perfect. James cameron and all the actors and extra behind the scene workers did so wonderful on this movie.
Fun fact, the only reason we have the movie "Titanic" is because James Cameron wanted to be able to go see the actual wreckage. The movie funded being able to go down there and get the shots of the real shipwreck and he created a story to make the movie he promised the studio/financiers.
Titanic is the cheesiest film ever. And I freakn love it XD I remember watching this back in the day in the my high school boys dormitory with my mates during movie night. One of the few nights the girls from the girls dormitory would be invited over. Predictably, the girls were tearing up watching it. But the boys were too, just trying to hide it. Good times.
From my understanding from DVD commentary, the reason why James Cameron even made this film was that he could go down to the wreck himself and build a story out of it. Some of the footage is real. Generally, POVs are real, but anything that shows the submersibles or ROVs were done using a model or set.
FUN FACTS: James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet & Celine Dion contributed a combined amount of $30,000 to help with the financial support fund to the youngest Titanic survivor Millvina Dean. Millvina Dean was 2 months old when she was on the Titanic with her family. Millvina died in 2009 at the age of 97. The movie characters Margaret "Molly" Brown, Thomas Andrews, Capt. Edward J. Smith, Bruce Ismay, John Jacob Astor & many more are based on the real-life victims & survivors, by the same name, of the Titanic James Cameron received official certification & license to take a team to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to record footage of the Titanic multiple times. So the footage at the beginning of the movie is real.
The firemen escaping through water tight doors is pure fantasy. Water tight doors close much quicker than shown. They escaped the flooding engine room by going up hatch access ship ladders and through the escape hatches to the next highest deck.
It wasn’t. It was a model used. You can still see this model today. It wasn’t possible to get such quality footage at the time the cameras were huge so they used a model
7:01 "....I've never been on a cruise ship...." Titanic was not a cruise ship....it was an ocean liner. The primary purpose of an ocean liner is transportation across seas or oceans. Ocean liners are faster and built to withstand the rough seas and adverse conditions encountered on long voyages across the open ocean. Ocean liners are often designed with thicker hull plating than is found on cruise ships, as well as a deeper draft for greater stability, and have large capacities for fuel, food, and other consumables on long voyages. The primary purpose of a cruise ship is the ship itself - the onboard amenities are a big part of the vacation. Cruise ships leave a port, visit several small ports for day excursions and eventually return to the starting port. Cruise ships tend to have less hull strength, speed, and agility compared to ocean liners.
Also, Titanic is tiny compared to the size of modern day cruise ships as well. Until I saw the pictures comparing them, I didn't realize the true giant size of our cruise ships now days lol
@@kaila279 Correct. Modern day cruise ship size has gotten out of control. Most are 2-3x larger than Titanic. But, they still wouldn't survive in the rough seas They are also very boxy and slab-sided which would not bode well in the strong winds encountered in the middle of the ocean. Even though they look top heavy, they are not because they are built with a lot of aluminum and other lightweight materials. Most cruise ships travel at 20mph. The only ocean liner the Queen Mary 2 (2004-present) and the Queen Elizabeth 2 (retired in 2008) both traveled at 30mph with a max speed of 35mph. The QM2 and QE2 could cross the Atlantic in 5-7 days (weather permitting). A cruise ship, if it could carry enough fuel and food and if the ship could withstand the high seas and high winds, would take 7-9 days or longer (weather permitting) to make the same crossing.
They wouldn't be able to survive by selling the paintings. Cal said "at least they were cheap." Those painters were not famous yet at this point. And they wouldn't know what happens later. Jack recognizes them just because he was in Europe and involved in arts
15:43 That conversation between Ismay and Captain Smith was pure fiction: the White Star policy (set by Bruce's father Thomas Ismay) was comfort over speed.
Actually not completly...the conversation was real and based on the witness E. Lesslei, HOWEVER... The US press, owned by Randoph Hurst tried to smear Ismay. Lesslei witnessed Ismay saying "Engines running fine, ship runs smooth, we might beat Olympic and reach New York on tuesday, not Wednesday". Hurst only took the last bit ot the last sentense "beat Olympic and reach New York on tuesday" Combned with the fact, that Ismay had sent a radio message to New York basically saying "Titanic sank, need quick passage back to England" was his doom. But same here, Ismays frst message was (meaning) "Titanic, sank, 1500 dead, do what we can do to help" But in the hectic in Carpatias wireless room, his first message wasnt send, so it doomed him further. ...So every Titanic movie, ever made, portaied him as the bad guy.
James Cameron has dove the Titanic over 30 times. The exterior footage of the ship is real. The interior shots are a flooded set. Anytime you see two submersibles in one shot it’s a set. If you only see one, it’s real footage. Both the ship and the submersibles used in the movie are the same that have gone on multiple Titanic Expeditions.
Stupid Rose!!! He caused Jack's death!!! And threw million dollar necklace into sea!!! With that money She could help a lot of peoples in need!!! This diamond is based on real life Hope Diamond!!! Hope Diamond = 350 Million Dollar!!! 350.000.000 💲💲💲💲💲
I like the time traveler theory for this movie. It makes sense of the anachronisms involving Jack - he has items and talks about places that don't exist at this time. Jack didn't die. He went back to his own time then tried to meet Rose at the place he shouldn't have known about, but she never figured out the hints he had dropped.
I wanted to say that you're 100% right. James Cameron, Michael Bay and Stanley Kubrick were and are notorious for their hyper-perfectionism and attention to the most microscopic detail. Here's a joke for you: Stanley Kubrick, who died in 1999, has often been featured in loony conspiracy theories about mankind never going to the moon. Except he was such an obsessive perfectionist he decided to fake the moon landing right there on the actual moon, complete with fully functional space suits, actual NASA astronauts and lunar module. And they had to redo it 128 times until they got it perfect.😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
the artists that painted the paintings she bought were still new and up and coming then. they weren’t worth millions of dollars back then the way they are now. picasso was a newbie on the art scene basically lol
Fun fact? The original cut of the movie involved Jack surviving, but women in test audiences felt it was more romantic if he ended up in frigid arctic waters instead.
The “not enough lifeboats thing” while technically true, is taken a bit out of context. The purpose of the lifeboats was to ferry passengers to a rescue ship, then go back for more and repeat until the ship was evacuated. The real aim was to keep the ship afloat long enough for a rescue. This scenario actually played out successfully with the RMS Republic in 1909.
There’s no “out of context”. Yeah while that’s the obvious purpose of lifeboats, no one actually believes youre going to row to shore from the middle of the ocean on a tiny boat, there still needs to be enough for everyone to be able to survive for hours until the rescue arrives. No ship travels in pairs, not now and definitely not then so there’s no way of knowing how long people would be waiting for rescue.
@@zimvader25 Back then there used to be thousands of ships on a route every given time, a ship recue would have been minutes away. The lifeboats were meant to be used to ferry passengers back and forth from the rescue ships

Many picture of the wreck in movie is the real life ship
Friday is fine, it's always good to see you 😊
Just uploaded part 2
I loved your reaction! So funny and witty 😃
Thank you!! 😁
Yes and no they had a model for the wide shots but yes they did dive on titanic. Any shot with 2 subs is a model.
Icebergs are like Islands. 80-90% of the girth is underwater.
You're freaking hilarious 🤣❤
Beautiful reaction ! ❤
God bless you my friend! have a great day.
love is beautiful...
Yes, it is real footage of the Titanic. James Cameron probably has the record for most trips down to the wreckage.
Jack is best man. Never forces rose to do anything. It's all on her terms. ❤❤
That love scene Showed him being a gentleman rose initiated the physical encounter and told him to put hands on her
James Cameron has dove the Titanic over 30 times. The exterior footage of the ship is real. The interior shots are a flooded set. Anytime you see two submersibles in one shot it’s a set. If you only see one, it’s real footage. Both the ship and the submersibles used in the movie are the same that have gone on multiple Titanic Expeditions.
As a titanic enthusiast this movie is a great movie that represents the disaster quite good but it should not be considered a factual documentary.
Guys James Cameron just said the future because they saw the wreckage in 2023 but the movie was in 1997
I love titanic
Its a good movie. No denying that
One of the greatest movies of all time really
I hear that there was another ship that was named Titanic and was the original "Titanic."
So are you saying Jack is quantum leaping
@@EmilyKresl there are a couple of deep dive videos on the topic. Film Theory's is probably the most comprehensive.
I wanted to say that you're 100% right. James Cameron, Michael Bay and Stanley Kubrick were and are notorious for their hyper-perfectionism and attention to the most microscopic detail. Here's a joke for you:
Stanley Kubrick, who died in 1999, has often been featured in loony conspiracy theories about mankind never going to the moon.
Never mind, it’s on Friday 😅
the artists that painted the paintings she bought were still new and up and coming then. they weren’t worth millions of dollars back then the way they are now. picasso was a newbie on the art scene basically lol
Part 2 asap!
Your wild I love you I subbed ❤
Welcome to the channel!
27:42 lmao
It's a mix , for sure, but quite a lot of the opening footage IS the actual wreck of the Titanic.
Everytime i hear a melody i do the same shit like you did 😂
Footage of shipwreck is mixed - part is real and the rest is made in studio.
Fun fact? The original cut of the movie involved Jack surviving, but women in test audiences felt it was more romantic if he ended up in frigid arctic waters instead.
First time? Where have you been? lol
@@zimvader25shipping traffic then was much busier than now. In that, the transatlantic route was one of the most busiest and competitive.
