How much does it cost to have a baby in Italy? Giving birth in italy.
#shorts #givingbirthinItaly #Italianhealthcare
in USA, it would probably cost 3 - 12 months of work
Thanks for sharing 😉
@@Thisplaceisaprison3912 awesome!!!
My friends bill for birth and 24 hrs stay cost $35,000 and that's USA
Dude, cost me bout fucking 12k
@@steffaniee2292 This sounds about right >_>
Free, in the UK - also had an emergency c section all was free. I’ll forever be grateful for the NHS
It wasn’t free. There was no out of pocket expenses because it was covered by the nhs.
You had none of the extra options like private room - £450
Nhs is terrible and offers the bare minimum service.
Im currently pregnant and would have to wait three weeks for a blood test requested by my midwife.
@@rebeccaa2097 girl did I pay anything ? It was free, our taxes cover that. I’d rather the taxes than pay £40,000 to have a baby lol. Also be grateful cos you’d be pissed if you were in another western country. Plus it depends where you are, i got my blood test results back in a week for my sugar levels or whatever so blame your area 🤷🏼♀️
@@rebeccaa2097💯
Definitely sounds like an area problem, the midwives here generally whip out a syringe and draw blood themselves.
Tax payers pay for you love.... It wasn't free!!!
$0 in Australia. I had a hospital birth with gas, epidural, 21 hours of labour and 1 night stay… $0. Parking $0. When my baby was 4 days old she got an ambulance to a bigger hospital with 2 days of treatment. Bill was $0 for ambulance and $0 for treatment. I love Australia ❤️
Tx for sharing 👌
Your taxes pays for it!
@michellecoppins325 are you from there?
your country is nice 👍👍
A little over $20,000 in the US, with no complications. After insurance it was about $5,200. You have a beautiful baby, congratulations!
Grazie mille, you’re very kind ❤️
@@c.g.2520 that's shocking:(((
consider yourself VERY VERY lucky. Mine was over 70K WITH insurance.
@@jamielynn7674 70k?!? Thats insane!! Can I ask why? It’s okay if you don’t want to share.
In Japan previously, a normal delivery cost about $5,000, but last year a benefit system was finally established. Now it costs about 400$.
Thanks for sharing 👌
In Germany it's completely free. We have to stay 14 Days in Hospital, I was pretty sick after the C section and my Baby was 5 Weeks early. We only pay extra, for my husband, so he can stay at the hospital, has a bed in my Privite Room und 3 Meals per Day.
In Canada my wife had a c section for our 2nd daughter 3 nights and the surgery cost $0.00. Congratulations you are blessed
👌Grazie ☺️
That’s insane, the US needs to take notes 😭😭
I’m in the US and I gave birth in April this year. I had a $200 copay for the hospital stay (regardless of number of days stayed) and nothing else. My insurance paid for everything. I just realize how good my insurance is for maternity coverage.
What if you don’t have insurance? Congratulations btw☺️
@@DolceVitaChannel thank you! In the US, there are 3 separate bills- one from mama’s labor/hospital impatient, one from anesthesia (if applicable), and one from the hospital pediatrician for baby’s care. The quotes are different if you don’t have insurance. For my labor and delivery alone (which is typically the largest bill out of all), they billed my insurance a total of around $24,000. But if you don’t have insurance, they can typically work out an out-of-pocket amount for each service. I don’t know how much it would be and I think it varies from hospital to hospital, but I know it gets reduced significantly. Still would be couple grand though.
Girl you are soooo blessed
Both C sections and both in NICU for about a week and I had a private room for a week. All free thanks to the NHS. Forever grateful for the care of myself and my babies.
I’m from the US. I’m preparing to have my second child this year. I’m not sure how much my insurance is covering but my hospital charges nearly $6000 for a c-section and like $4500 for a vag delivery. We have really good insurance so I’m hoping it’s not actually that much.
Wishing you all the best ☺️
If you have insurance I highly doubt it will be more that 1,000
@@c.j.r.02 my first one WITH insurance was still over $4000.

In India a C section will be somewhere around $1500 ~ $3000 depending on the hospital you choose. Congratulations on your baby ❤

In Scotland an the UK as a whole we are extremely lucky to have free healthcare for everything due to the NHS. I've spent at least 2wks roughly every year in hospital. Except last year I was in for 3mths including 3wks in ICU, serious varieties of treatments and medications. I'm curious to know how much would that cost me in any of your countries?
In NZ, maternity care is free unless you choose private. $0 to have a baby.
I had my baby in Vicenza, It was absolutely the best pregnancy I've ever had
Nice 😍
I’m in Canada.
In some ways, like childbirth, we are blessed to have free healthcare.
I’ve experienced a fair amount of the negative side of free healthcare, such as waiting 2 years+ for surgery and medications that cost 20x what they are in other countries and a shortage of doctors, being brushed aside as a non-emergency when I had serious medical 🏥 needs etc….
I’ve also experienced emergency surgeries, a healthcare system that is well connected which prevents mistakes and abuse (doctor shopping for example). Fantastic care when I needed it. I’ve had 3 babies myself and have 5 grandchildren all for free and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Our Public Health Nurses visit new mothers in their home and we have free lactation consultants available to breastfeeding moms.
My youngest granddaughter (3 months) has had several resolvable treatable issues in her short life so far, like torticollis and lip and tongue tied which made nursing really hard on her. She’s been to about 20 appointments between specialists and doctors - all free. And she’s getting much better so it’s been really helpful.
Many of us complain about the problems with it, but there are many more things to be grateful for with our system.
Thank you for sharing this👌😉
in india, it ranges from 300$ to 1000$ depending on where you go, Goverment hospitals would do it for cheap but not so great service, Private hospitals go from 400$ to 1000$.
Tx for sharing 😉
In 2002 I had a c-section and it was if i remember correctly almost $25,000. I can only imagine how much it cost in 2023!! Glad my days of having children are over😊
That's how much just my cesarean and hospital stay was 2 months ago. My birth team cost extra.
I understand, that’s soooo expensive 😅
Congratulations to the couple!! Your baby is molto bella! Btw your wife has the same name as me. I love watching you guys, it's a fun way to learn Italian! 🤗
Grazie mille for your kind words ☺️
I had an uncomplicated birth and 36 hour stay in the US last year. I have a government insurance (Tricare). Before my insurance it was $27,000, but we paid $73.
good for you then 😅
My insurance was supposed to be billed but idk what happened and I received the bill. It was $10k in 2020 here in California. I sent that to my insurance and let them take care of it!
That was with a 24 hour stay, natural unmedicated birth, 0 vaccines for my baby and like 2 hospital meals. The doctor stood back and watched me do what my body needed to do, he walked up just to catch the baby, no other interventions. $10k.
Tx for sharing 😉
Thank you for no vacancies!!!
I didn't pay dime on my birth but that's probably becaue I still have insurance from my parents. I had my baby at 18 and got pregnant at 17 so everything was paid for thankfully.

17,000 & Up In Chicago
If You Have Surgery Its Way More Money It Depends On how Long You Stay In The Hospital
Steep 😔
Canadian parking was $20 CAD for the day. Everything else was free-room, food, surgery, doctors etc. That being said, we have a shortage of medical professionals at the moment, COVID exposed that. While the health care is free, it is far from perfect, but I'm always grateful. Salute alla tua bambina!
Grazie mille ☺️
In germany it costs nothing, the health insurance is free, only a privat room costs 50€ per Night in the hospital, its a dream.. midwife is free, food is free, medication is free, normally a woman with a c section stays 5 days in the hospital and a woman with a natural birth stays 2 days.. when i always see comments a d hear what is going on with the health insurance in america i lost it i swear
Thanks for sharing 😉
Youre welcome!
I had a similar experience in the U.S.. Planned natural home birth, but ended in emergency cesarean in the hospital. In total it was roughly $30,000. We ultimately paid $7,000 and insurance covered the rest.
thanks for sharing Kori😅
I delivered my first baby in India, there was private hospitals and genera(government hospitals)in private we have to pay.Delivered second one in Italy this march almost free cost except I saw private doctor❣️

$200,432.21 and that was just one child. I'm happy that your wife and baby are doing fine. You have a beautiful family.
Wow, that’s shocking 😭😭😭Thank you for your kind words ❤️
How is that possible?

My insurance company was confused too. One lady I was talking to asked me, " was I in the penthouse suite. I must have gotten the most expensive medicine or oxygen. Then she asked me, did I rent out an entire hospital floor, to have my baby? After two years of back and forth, the bill went down to $2343.01. They were charging me for things I didn't use or was given. But I never received a separate doctor's bill though and I knew why.
I gave birth last year, it was an emergency case, at 34-35 weeks something went wrong with placenta after covid, blood flew with waters, the ambulance came in 5 minutes at night and took me to the hospital, I had a surgery and stayed for 11days at the hospital until my baby was totally ok. And it is all for free in Russia. And then a doctor and a special nurse comes to your home every several days till the baby is 1 month old, after that you visit doctors at the hospital every month yourself, till 1 year old, which is also free.
Sorry to hear about your emergency. Glad it all worked out and also for free😉
That hospital room is so nice! Especially the orange chair
That’s the delivery room😉
In Leamington ON Canada it is free if you have a Canadian Health-insurance Card everything is free
👌
For a miscarriage in America, It cost almost 20 thousand dollars.
If you pay straight cash they knock off 50% but keep in mind I didn't stay over night.
That’s expensive 😳
Congratulations to you both! I am a student of Italian from Kenya.
Grazie 🤩☺️
Congratulations Dolce Vita...Luca and Marina...all the best.
Grazie mille☺️🤩
This would be the same for Canada as far as the room goes. But we can chose between a doctor and a midwife. There are certain circumstances where you care could be handed over to a doctor at the hospital but otherwise midwives can do home, birthing center or hospital birth with you.
Sounds great 👌
Saluti! My wife and I are sitting on a balcony in Tellaro trying to improve our Italian and who should pop up but Luca, our wonderful Trastevere food tour guide. Subcribed and loving your content. Your family is beautiful and I’m sure your mother is proud of the stability you’ve achieved 😁
Heeeeyyy! You ain’t getting rid of me so easily 😂😂😂 Thank you for your kind words, I hope you’re having great time🤩
Free in Ireland. C section and three nights in hospital( non private room). Paid 0€
I live in the US and only paid $250 with 1 week stay for me and baby in NICU for 3 weeks. Our insurance paid for everything, and we just paid our co-pay. Union jobs tend to have the best health insurance, so we are very fortunate for what we paid.
Good for you then 👌
My room alone for 48 hours was over $92,000 WITH REALLY GOOD INSURANCE! Then they had the audacity to send me an “occupancy” bill for the baby being in the room with me .
That’s insane, sorry to hear about that😳
Before insurance it was 30000… after it was 15000
That’s literally almost a whole year of work for me 😑👌
😳😳😳😳
Sounds like you need better insurance. The state insurance is pretty good in most states and covers almost everything
Free in Australia. Medicare is the best
I live in AZ and I had a baby 7wks ago via c section and they handed me a bill for $6800 before I left and I stayed only 48 hrs.
Edit: that's with insurance too
I heard worse but still😳
I had an emergency c-section and a preemie. After my insurance copay of $5000 everything was free bar copays ($20-50 depending on the office/doctor). When the bill came I was so glad for the insurance coverage - it would have cost $75,700 (for the pre-surgery day I was admitted, the emergency surgery, the NICU and the week stay following the birth)
Tx for sharing😉
Gave normal birth in 2019, costed me 425 Euros including room for 2 nights and it’s all covered by my company’s insurance for employees. So I would say it’s zero cost for me. I am from India 😀
Congratulations on your baby ❤ Nz is completely free for having a baby ❤ We can choose a private midwife or go with the hospital team and no matter how you deliver or how long you stay in hospital after it's all funded so you don't walk out with any bills
Here in Australia it's the same
Great 👍Grazie mille ❤️
Same in Scotland, well the UK as a whole
What about foreigners?
@@krystalhooper1943 in public hospitals (most of them are) it doesn’t matter so it’s free unless you want to have a private room and a private midwife/specific team of doctors😉

About $40,000 not including all of the medical bills leading up to the birth for appointments and lab testing etc.

In the state of California in the US, it's about $36,000 to give birth to a child in a hospital
😥
Zero… I had a homebirth and an awesome midwife through the whole pregnancy. We might pay high taxes in Denmark but we sure as hell get a lot of benefits from this system.
My c section and 5 day hospital stay (thanks to an infection that kept me there those 5 days) was $58,000. I was lucky enough to have insurance.
Oh boy that’s a lot of money😬😬😬
In Canada, I paid 300$ for one night in a private room, and maybe 30$ for parking ☺️
In Mexico it cost around 1 thousand dollars
Thanks for sharing 😉
In Austria the general care is free, since it's included in your health insurance, which is quite expensive though, and if you want a midwife of your choice, it might be several hundreds of euros. For a birth of our second child we paid 1200 euros, outside of a hospital, in a midwife house, me, my husband and two very experienced midwifes. After one night we went home with our baby girl. It's a pity I didn't realise sooner that it's not necessary to spend more than one night outside of my own bed :). Our first child came to this world in a hospital, I spent there four whole days without having any reason, it's just a habit here. We didn't pay anything, however, no free choice of a midwife. In general, it's very safe and on all stages quite comfortable to deliver a baby in Austria.
Denmark here.
WE PAY NOTHING!
It costs nothing for the surgery, nor the personal midwife, and the room is also free, for as long as we need it.
First time moms, usually stay in the hotel for about 5-7 days, whilst mothers who have birthed before, and have an uncomplicated birth, usually chose to go home after a few hours. Some chose to stay a day or two.
With a C-section, it's usually expected, that you stay for at least 5 days.
With complications, this may stretch over a longer period, and maybe the baby needs to be in the NICU.
If the baby needs to stay in the NICU for weeks or months, one parent gets a free room at the hotel, and if the other one wants to stay there too, they can pay for it, which is around 60€ or $65 pr night, which is including 3 meals a day.
This is all free, and we never ever see a bill from any hospital.
We actually have no idea how much an operation costs.
We also have a midwife that follows the pregnancy all the way, 4 doctor visits, and minimum 2 scans of the baby.
The first is usually done around 8-12 weeks, and then there's a neckfold scan in week 19.
All for free of course.
As aftercare, we have a children's nurse, that comes to our homes every other week, or more if needed, where she weighs and measures the babys growth, and helps us moms, with anything from breastfeeding to soar nipples.
After the first 3 months, she comes 1 a month, up til 12 months.
This is an offer though, and not mandatory.
I'm so grateful that we don't have to pay.
I would've been in sooo much debt, due to serveral autoimmune diseases and 3 c sections with complications.
That is so wonderful, that’s how should be everywhere in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Costs can vary wildly. For natural birth you will end up spending anywhere from about USD 600 to USD 1000 for a normal delivery all inclusive in a no frills simple nursing home for new births. But if one opts for a designer birthing experience in a fancy hospital with a private room, it can be up to 5-6 that price (all for normal birth without forceps / suction). For a C-section, multiply by 2-3 depending on the city. These are prices in the top 6-8 cities in India. Medical insurance covers a piddly proportion of this - practically useless. In fact maternity costs are excluded from coverage in many insurance policies or severely limited in coverage.
Thank you. I was under the impression that health care was free in India, I don’t know where I got that
Completely free in the UK. I've had 2 csections 😊
$150 copay. Socialized medicine isn't good. BCBS is great. ❤❤🎉🎉 Congratulations on your baby 🎉🎉🎉

In Denmark its all free🤌😁
But you still have to pay taxes so that is like the payment for it
USA - after insurance my days old son had a $600 bill sent to him and we had a $3000 bill after insurance. Something like Tylenol was $500 for every dose.

USA- My son was also emergency c-section, also 3 days in the hospital after negotiating the bill down through the hospital AND the insurance company we got a 'deal' for 70k+ Not sure how much interest and added fees.

It’s free in Canada
I was induced with my first and the bill before insurance was 40,000 USD, after insurance was 3,000 + an extra 500 for epidural. The 3,000 was waived because we met the income requirements for financial aid. ALWAYS CALL AND ASK FOR AID, EVEN IF YOU THINK THEY WONT DO ANYTHING! For my second i had a much fasyer birth with fewer interventions and it was 20,000 before insurance and 1800 after insurance. Then i moved to a different state and had my third baby in a very small rural hospital. The bill was 2000 before insurance and because we paid gobs of money to insurance every month they covered it all. Insurance did not cover the home birth midwife that we unfortunately did not get to use, and she cost 4000 out of pocket. With my 4th it will be free because i am on government healthcare. So 4 very different experiences and drastic price differences!
Thanks for sharing and congrats on your big family 😉

But I did recently 2023 have a full hysterectomy, it cost $23,400. I had to pay out of pocket $4,680 in cash.

Depends if it’s because of a medical reason you need to be in the hospital; it’s completely free. But if you choose to give birth in the hospital; you gotta pay. Home birth is the standard here, so…
Where?
In Poland if you give birth in a regular public hospital you don't pay, because it is already "payed' for from your insurance. You pay it while you work, they take some percentage of your money from your paycheck each month (it is legally required) or you pay your insurance elsewhere. That's why you don't have to pay more when you give birth in a hospital. But private health care exist and you can choose that and pay, or if you don't have any insurance. For example, home births with a midwife costs a few thousands in PLN
Tx for sharing 😉
Cost $0 in Australia
👌
0€ unless your partner wants to stay the night after baby is born. I think it costs 20€ per night.
Someone, somewhere, ALWAYS pays for everything you consider "free".
Nothing is really “free” but the system allows people who have nothing or little to be cured and that’s absolutely fair in my opinion.
