*loved this car. It’s lethal in race especially with the corsa’s struggled to lay the power down when I had it. When you get the winters on it the transformation is crazy. Sounds so good, looks amazing and that steering is just delightful! Great vid mate*
Great Vid. Love the Giulia Quadrifoglio 🙌🏽🔥. It’s everything you’d want from an Alfa, personally, it’s my pick over the M3 and C63. A breath of fresh Air 🙌🏽. You couldn’t of picked the worst conditions to drive it 😂
Great video. I’ve had my Trofeo white Giulia Quadrifoglio for 3 months now and it’s easily the best car I’ve owned. SOOO much more fun than M3/4, C63s, RS5 etc - I’ve owned them all. The driving feel and fun factor of the Alfa is in another league. Only really comparable to a 458. 🍀👍🏼🤙🏼
Nice review Joe and very accurate on most of your comments. I’ve had mine (pretty much a carbon copy of this example, inc colour etc) for 2 years now and done 48k enjoyable miles (use for work), so know the car inside out. There are a few easy changes you can do to make the car even better in terms of driver pleasure and fault management. The main one being the rubber switch from the Corsa to the fantastic MPS 4S’. As you say, the Corsa is feast or famine in terms of grip over our seasons. Super glue on hot days but don’t turn up when weather drops below 10oc. 4S has been a transformation for the car as a all year round boot. Plus I have managed twice the mileage in terms of longevity. Grip is witchcraft on them in most conditions though and the switch to 295’s on the rear helps. In terms of Race mode - as an owner, the worry of flying solo soon disappears IMO. I’ve never driven a more controllable/predictable RWD car when pushing it and wagging its tail. Famous last words and respect is always given, but it is such a hoot when the aids are binned off 😁
Thanks buddy! Yeah I'm the biggest Michelin fan too as you say some 4S's would give the GQ twice the performance in the weather when shooting this first drive video. After having the car for a couple days Race mode didn't worry me, as you say it's very controllable (far far more than a modern M car in that respect). It's been gone 5 days now and I really miss it's cheeky character... Cheers Joe
Nice re-visit! 😊 I bought a manual Q last year and I love it. The biggest issue with the manual Quadrifoglio isn’t the box IMHO - its these 3 things: # footrest too wide. (Catches your clutch foot, its actually same as auto, they never bothered making a smaller! You swap it for a narrower on or fabricate one in aluminium) # knob slightly too large (easy swap for Richbrook alu-ball etc) # gaiter mount clash with reverse stick movement. rocking the tunnel console by shifting (The mount is for the auto shifter; you just sand it down.)

Love this car and am so happy with my purchase.....
Joe, I appreciate you risking your life on subpar tires to bring us this video. All the world loves an Alfa, and the Quadrifoglio is right up there. Maybe I'll look into a used one. Great and informative video. Thank you.
Hi, Joe! I think this is the first new generation Alfa Romeo able to compete with BMW M, Audi S and Mercedes AMG, and to keep it up every time. As usual, your video clip is detailed, challenging and well done. Congratulations! ;)
Hey Joe, I’m very local to you - I know the area very well. Think your style of vlog is refreshingly mature and descriptively accurate - well done - far better than some of your you tube peer group.. Keep at it and your channel will grow. I run a new Range Rover, a Mercedes AMG and in two weeks a heavily discounted brand new M4 Comp arrives - your content helped me decide on the M4 👏👏👍🙏
Great video and car choice. My daily driver and what an occasion it is every day. Best car in its class imo. The valves in the exhaust system can be coded to open/close in all the modes. Unless you track it, the "carbonceramici" breaks is overkill of an expence. The Sparco seats look amazing but with no electric option, restricts adjustment capability. Overall my dream car as a daily driver, even in the wet and snow but with the right set of rubber. I use Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s and they behave 98% of the time, under any load. The Pirelli Zero Corsa are imo amazing but when driving in over 25 degrees air temperature and in the dry. In the wet, the Pirellis are to be driven with gentle throttle application and never in race mode, with normal being the best mode.
Thank you Joe!! Been waiting for a ‘real world’ review of this car and there’s none out there so this came just at the right time. I’ve been debating whether this was the perfect daily for my dream 3-car garage and now I know it is. I can’t wait for the full review - it would be nice to see how practical the car really is and also go into depth as to why the infotainment system isn’t very good please. Everyone say it is very good but the don’t go in to detail as to why. Also can you hack it so you don’t have to put it in Race to hear the exhaust? Great work as always
Great review Joe on a very cool car. You're one of the few reviewers that even seems to mention tires. Surprised that so many cars in the UK are driving on summer tires. When my daughter lived there, she drove a used UK spec 318i. First winter day with a hint of frost on the road she barely made it to work, the car had zero grip. The local tire shop told her they don't sell A/S tires, she would have to buy a second set of winter tires and wheels. With the UHP A/S tires available now, that's what I'd want. Particularly for a 318i, don't see the point of having summer tires at all.
I might have bought one instead of the M4, but the dealer only had one, and they weren't letting it out for test drives. Great review, Joe. Looking forward to the full video. Cheers!
So I was due to trade in my W177 A45S which was a really fast, competent car. Head said C63S, but a nagging in my heart said the Giulia. I test drove the C63S and it is, indeed, a mighty, mighty car. I was pretty much sold but... ... a ten minute test drive in the Giulia had me signing on the dotted line by the eleventh minute. I don't know what it is... but I'll leave it to my non-car-loving wife who I think summed it up best: *"This car feels like it's... alive"*
Again, another great video Joe! Still so weird watching you drive around all of my local roads! I've noticed the same issues with the Pirellis having a narrow operating window. When out of their temperature range they become un-communicative and their break away is much more unpredictable. The PS4s just seems to have such a wide operating range and you can solidly trust them. I wonder how many cars could be changed with them fitted?!!
As an owner I would say the Giulia is probably what you want as an enthusiast. The M3 is too competent if that makes sense. Too refined. And the S55 is really forgettable. Next car for me is a Giulia.
Lets give credit where it is due. The Alfa is powerful and fast. It is not my cup of tea but hopefully there are enough other buyers out there to make this model successful. This model will cause BMW to sharpen their knifes going forward and not rest on their laurels.
Hi Joe, what a great first drive I like this car and it shifts like hell would I have one to be honest not sure as Alfa don’t have the best reliability reports and so I’m told servicing can get expensive quickly as some engines I think Ferrari have a hand in it thus the reason for the amazing engine and performance but I enjoyed this video. Best wishes Alan B 😁😁
sbutter1474 Not sure what country you are in but here in the UK Alfa offer an inclusive 3 year maintenance, 5 year warranty on all new Giulias. Wish all car makers had that level of faith in their products.
Joe was keeping an eye on the pig wagon behind him 😂. Brilliant car, would have one over an m2/m3 any day. I heard that the insurance is cheaper on this than on the m3, as it has a better crash test rating.
Pleased to hear you have seen the light regarding shift paddles Joe, I agree with you totally on application and use. It's a shame the german brands don't do this especially the R8 you would think or hope switching the Huracan paddles to an R8 might be and easy modification...
The Pirelli P Zero Corsas have a narrow temperature band and using them in cold weather is not what they are designed for. In the cold, they become hockey pucks...in warm weather, you will never loose the rear end..but if it's cold, you're playing Russian Roulette ...
Epic car, so so good! shame its the wrong time of year to really exploit its potential! In the dry and warmer temps we found it had a lot of grip in Race mode, really could drive it hard without breaking traction too much. Found the brake pedal to have a bit of an odd feel to it, very over-assisted at slower speeds. Did you notice similar or was it just our car?!
Great video Joe. I love this Alfa! In the beginning of the video you say that you're not a big fan of keyless entry. I know it''s not specific to the Giulia but would like to hear your thoughts on that - is it that you don't think it's worth the money or there is some kind of drawback I don't know about?
Brill video as always :-). Know where that road is :-) shame about the white car behind ;-) and Prius in front. Got stuck behind a Prius yesterday, OMG don't they just get those cars to drive in Eco mode and on batteries 90% of the time lol and yes I drove one round for a month but it never got a chance to use batteries, worst car I have ever driven.
Hey Joe, I *think* that road is a 60mph limit, not 70mph. The difference is there's no metal divider on the central reservation. I'm not 100% certain, but I think that's the case. Personally I wish we'd do away with national speed limit signs, and just put signs that explicitly show the damn limit!
i had one until today, lent it out to someone for the 50th, came back with it being un fixable. all because i told him not to go on race mode in rain and what did he do.
Since you've driven it's main competition the M cars, How does this car compare to A - the BMW M3 (standard car) B - the BMW M3 competition C - the BMW M3 CS D - Merc C63 AMG
I bought one of these last week. OMG it’s fun. Stupidly quick. But you definitely need winter tyres, with the standard Pirelli setup you can’t really experience the power properly if it’s cold or wet. Just wheel-spins in most gears.
@@domloz3130 Yes sir. QV. They are SO much better in the colder weather and rain. I'm in the States, (Arizona) not the UK, but we do get rain and temperatures in the 30's. And the PS4's handle infinitely better in those conditions. I think they are quieter too. Cheers!
Great review Joe. Currently drive an e92 M3 dct, previous was a manual e92 m3, e46 M3 before that. Really not sure about the f80 , considering a guilia as my next car. A better pick over the F80 M3 you think?
John creedon obvious statement I know but you so need to test drive the Quadrifoglio. I had a 2010 e92 M3 manual and I never thought I’d own a better car. Sold that for a DCT M2 which although a hoot to drive didn’t make me feel special like the M3. Traded the M2 for a Quadrifoglio and it is without doubt better in just about every respect than either the M2 or M3 (do miss the manual box though). Such a special car.
Great review 👍 how long does the infotainment take to boot from cold to fully functional? Also we all love the QF but would you spend your own actual cash on one over something else ? 😁
Having driven them both. How do the M3 cs compare to the Giulia. And what do you think of the sound of the Giulia compared to the S55. If my eyes were closed I personally would not be able to tell them apart. Yet most people say the Alfa sounds much better. I really cant hear the difference.
The prices are coming down pretty quickly, another year and a 3 1/2 year old car might not be far off a 3 year old M3. What exactly was wrong with the manual Joe? Sometimes I feel a manual doesn’t quite suit certain cars, I was left with that feeling after driving a manual M4, thought it’d solve all my problems - it was fine but it just felt like it would be the wrong choice.
Same car as Stef AB haha, these press cars must get sh**ged Beautiful looking thing, would be tough to choose between this and the M2 Sadly, not a problem I’m facing at the moment 🤑
so how does it compare to the M850i? I just took the 840D out all day for an extended drive, and the torque just wants to push on continuously, its like my 640D in Sports all the time even in comfort and then some!!!
Steve James hi Steve. I had a 2017 M2 that I kept for a year. Without doubt a fantastic little car (nimble and sounded amazing). I nearly bought the M2 comp a few months ago but I didn’t like the sound (different engine now?) and the interior isn’t anywhere in the same league as the M3 (different price points granted). Combine that with a dreadful Sales rep and I looked outside of BMW for the first time in 5 years. Long story short, I test drove a Quadrifoglio and bought it straight away. It’s simply incredible. As others have said, test drive both (it’s a lot of money to spend) and make your own mind up but for me, the Alfa makes you feel so special I couldn’t imagine owning anything else.
S WB ha, we’ll have to do a car swap timeshare as I love the M4 as well! In short whether it’s a BMW, MB or Alfa then there are some great cars out there. I can see a day when cars like these will be be history and UA-cam will be full of videos about iPhone on wheels ☹️
Joe i still can't get over how good this felt after just 2 mins behind the wheel, my god this car is next level

Traded the M2 for a Quadrifoglio and it is without doubt better in just about every respect than either the M2 or M3 (do miss the manual box though). Such a special car.
@@sultanoftippoo3857 since bought a qv. Agree 100 percent with you, amazing car 👍
Come to St Giles I need to see that car 😍
Dynamic mode engages the flap over 3,5k or 4k.
How does this compare to the BMW M4? The performance figures are similar.
Please take it out on some good roads and drive it hard.
M3cs, M2 competition or Guilia Quadrifoglio?
Great review 👍 how long does the infotainment take to boot from cold to fully functional? Also we all love the QF but would you spend your own actual cash on one over something else ? 😁
Having driven them both. How do the M3 cs compare to the Giulia. And what do you think of the sound of the Giulia compared to the S55. If my eyes were closed I personally would not be able to tell them apart. Yet most people say the Alfa sounds much better. I really cant hear the difference.
_"I do feel sad for people who drive round on Priuses"_ 😁😂
Why alot of very rich people drive them as a daily ..i wouldn't feel sorry for them when they have supercars parked up in their home's
The Prius comment. 😂😂😂 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Sooo Beautiful!❤
Would love one of these!
I thought that was around south bucks area. Any decent driving roads you know of? I live round the area
Same car as Stef AB haha, these press cars must get sh**ged
Beautiful looking thing, would be tough to choose between this and the M2
Sadly, not a problem I’m facing at the moment 🤑
so how does it compare to the M850i? I just took the 840D out all day for an extended drive, and the torque just wants to push on continuously, its like my 640D in Sports all the time even in comfort and then some!!!
Can the exhaust flap be coded so that normal sport mode opens the flap ? Does AR think the car would be too loud outside the track ?
Its a shame you didn’t notice the heated seats. I’d rather those in 3 degrees weather than the carbon backed 🇮🇹
imapadlock 😂
Heated/cooled seats should be in any car over $50k!
Would you do a straight swap on the m2 for this? I'm currently considering both... Even though I can't afford either 😩
Test drive both, only then can you decide which is the best for you.
You don't own a car until every cent is paid. Not many people really own their car
S WB would you prefer the Alfa over your m4
