DMT with Polygonal, HiCal, Subsistence, and Fitted Stock is my go to weapon for clearing redbars in raids and high end content as it two taps almost everything and leaves your energy slot and power slot open for area damage and dps weapons. In those specific situations I believe it's S-tier, however it requires you to be knowledgeable of not only the content but also the health of the enemies. It's also very fun to Yee-Haw your foes while wearing a kickass Stetson and shatterskating across encounters.

Multi Tool used to have a hair trigger, allowing it to fire slightly faster than 200rpm. At some point they removed this…it’d be nice to see them rework this a little. Maybe add something like reloading after a precision final blow activates the hair trigger and increases the rate of fire by like 10%.
hair trigger should still exist on console. It allowed you to shoot "faster" by making the bullet come out halfway down your right trigger pull instead of fully, it didn't affect rate of fire. I believe opening shot still does this to guns, but of course.. a left click is a left click, there's no pressure points on a mouse.
Yeah they need to do something because mida struggles in small maps or small areas like it’s hard to deal with ppl up close so I think it does need some type of small nuff

skyburner's has some cute strats in Grandmaster content, but as you mentioned, mostly just against the cabal strikes.
The change to scorch for Polaris Lance is actually a huge nerf because players can't die to scorch damage

Skyburner’s actually feels super good on long range, it has so much more aim assist than it’s contemporaries. Not to mention EP flinching the enemy. And it’s situational, but you can hipfire splash people hiding around corners to kill them or stop their regen if they’re weak, or to slightly track them
Also for scorch and ignitions
Heavy knife hit into some hip fire is really nice at close to mid range
I’m so exited about the Polaris changes, it’s already my favorite exotic scout. Also that is a phenomenal idea to give symmetry jolt if you have max stacks on the alt fire

It won't be able to kill in 2 shots in PvP anymore though, since players can't die from scorch damage.
@@Gunnar120 yep i was going to make this same comment, scorch is worse than 2 tapping in pvp. however, this should have a really big effect with blowing up groups in a well, get 60 scorch on perfect fifth, then another 40 from pretty much any solar grenade. warlocks with celestial fire or hunters with calibans hand can also cause ignite.

15k kills later, people still don't believe me when I tell them Polaris is good.
Also for Skyburner: hit them once to apply scorch, then heavy knife to the chest. Heavy knife causes instant ignition.

The Zen Moment buff works wonders on Polaris and Jade, makes these two scouts an absolute dream to shoot. It makes Polaris feel like it lies about its Aim Assist, its shots register so cleanly.
Sky burners when Ashes to Ashes is active on Nightfalls makes the scout so much fun to use. Literally like 4-5 shots can make a scorch explosion, plus stun champions
Applying scorch is cool but I really wish they kept the original burn, it's one of the only damage over time's that kill instead of getting down to 1 hp
One other way of healing when using Touch of Malice is Devour, especially if you're a Voidlock with a really good build, while I do not have the weapon myself as I never got lucky with my drops, I'd honestly say that Touch of Malice in the hands of a Voidlock is really good in most PvE content.
I love using sky burners with dawn chorus in PVE to have 100% melee uptime, and applying scorch refunds the melee, and skyburners applying every shot means I can spam my melee and cycle my grenade and class ability due to augments. While it's not great as a dmg dealer, having it enable my build to rapidly proc ignitions is very fun.
I'm also trying to craft the DSC rapid scout because I heard incandescent has interactions with the bray origin trait, though it's kill activated and may not give me the energy at tge rate skyburners does when I need it. Once I get a roll/craft it I'll see if I'll stay with skyburners.

I think the biggest problem you had with Skyburners is trying to play into the gimmicky parts rather than just using it like a typical scout rifle you ADS mostly, the hipfire's decent but it's no DMT
the biggest strength of Skyburner's Oath is it's overall just a stat monster, only reason people didn't use it until buffs was it wasn't hitscan but now it is, not as much stability as polaris but 50 is still extremely good and every other stat is higher than polaris, I think it's the closest thing to Jade Rabbit in the energy slot (but sadly still 21 zoom)
Yeah,when I use it I don't bother with hip fire at all really.Being able to 1 tap legonaires aiming down sites is main reason to use for me.Hopefully will still do that against Calus's forces!

You should try out symmetry with a wings of sacred dawn build + the seasonal icarus mod! It makes it pretty dang sticky while in the air, and you don't really need to aim after getting the stacks of dynamic. It also makes it easier to get more stacks as you could take angles you normally wouldn't be able to. 10/10!
Skyburners used to fire way faster when firing from the hip - i dont know why they removed that - you cannot hit crits when hipfiring so your ttk is worse anyways
Guardians can't burn out from scorch so polaris lance won't be able to 2-tap with its perfect fifth anymore after the change.
Also heavy knives will ignite any scorched enemy so skyburners is amazing when paired with double knives or with multiple solar hunters in the fireteam
As someone that loves Symmetry, this is spot on. I really hope that Bungie does another pass on this gun someday; the fact that it has auto-fire as a perk is irrelevant now, so I'd like to think that they'll take that out and give it some kind of buff to compensate for that.
yeah it's such a cool gun, it just feels like it needs a little love. I think a bit more range would help in PvP, and jolting enemies would help SO much in PvE

With Skyburner's Oath; you need to lean into the aerial combat & use Lions Rampant on Titan (hipfire while using lift) or solar/scortch & run Hunter with Gunpowder Gamble. Or be a floating warlock.
Play with it less like a scout & lean into that perfect AE. It works great with people who want to shoot & be mobile. Works best in mid range or across map where scouts normally have damage falloff.
It can go up a rank in both PVE & PVP if you really take the time to learn the gun.
(Seriously try it it with Lion's Rampant & strafe thrust) (if using it for scortch stacks; ADS as little as possible.)

Also its bullets arent hitscan, they're just really really fast projectiles. Which means they dont have the normal bullethit reg, its just slightly off

I run my ignition build with skyburners and weighted knife, you should try it! The knives ignite any amount of scorch and I usually run ophidia spathe with the knife return dodge also.
I used to use Polaris Lance in Gambit when invading all the time with great results.
Symmetry with floating solar Warlock is godly in Trials. Get the 7x stacks and then pop heat rises and turn into an AC-130. However, I agree with the current meta. I haven't used Sym since arc 3.0 came out and I could imagine with Titans rushing everyone down, it could be a poor gun for that.
So with skyburners if you have have good throwing knife aim, the heavy weighted throwing knife will cause an ignition on hit even with the small scorch applied by the gun
We really need to get The Scholar to come back. That scout rifle has some really good pvp perks on it. Unfortunately it was removed from the trials loot pool before the cheating issue was fixed.
Sadly, Polaris Lance won't be able to 2-tap players with The Perfect Fifth explosion anymore, because it will inflict Scorch damage, which can never take a Guardian's HP below 1. :(
Patty does Mobility still increase strafe speed while ADSing?
This list just shows how much work our exotic scouts need, I sometimes bring out mida to relive the glory days of d1 but its just not the same 😔

I am looking forwards to an eventual Slidearms tier list. My nomination is Forerunner due to its incredible Precision Damage multiplier combined with its 100 range and high fire rate. Despite my preference for Exotic 140rpm hand cannons with stacking Precision Hit perks and mods, the Forerunner still dishes out more damage per shot, at 200rpm, and is practically a pocket sniper (especially as a counter-sniper, being able to kill most sniper enemies with a single precision shot). Lastly with the right Armor mods Special Ammo is hardly an issue with 60-80 rounds in reserve and the ability to gain 16 rounds per special ammo box.
Oooo all the 8 kill per game titans sitting at the back of the map must be foaming at the mouth for this video

I love scouts, MIDA being the only exotic scout in D1 Y1 it was my go to weapon because I never got G Horn.
People underestimate the movement utility, for me that's a really cool addition, it helps in pve and pvp trying to escaping a losing battle.
I love symmetry. In trials it's actually really useful too, sit in the back and gather the stacks then you can just lob the bolts into the enemies area.
yeah it has a similar vibe to hawkmoon and tarrabah in that way, punishes teams who poke but don't commit to fights
@@PattycakesGaming Precisely, but with symmetry, in my opinion, it's easier to get the team wipes with the alt mode instead of just one guardian with Hawkmoon. I just think it's the definition of a good exotic. Also it's very very good for GMs.
What roll are we looking for, for DMT?
PVP on console.
I know it's been awhile, but I've found Symmetry Powered mode is actually good even without stacks to force people into cover with suppressive fire.
what are your thoughts on the no feelings scout rifle to me it’s the cleanest feeling and looking scout in the game and i find myself winning 90% of all my engagements with it. It was a black armory weapon so it is sunset but in everything but trials it doesn’t matter
I totally forgot Polaris Lance was getting a buff for Lightfall. Will be a nice option for solar builds over Calus Mini when you absolutely need the range.

Skyburner's is my most used exotic and I think if you find a good niche you can get a lot of value out of it. I almost always use Sunbracers with Heat Rises as well as Ember of Searing. Skyburner's Oath is the only gun in the game that can apply scorch to a target without first having to get a kill on another target, so it can really get some mileage out of anything that gives you some sort of benefit after killing scorched targets. Plus it's good in the air so that goes well with Heat Rises. Also once you've used it enough it has a very high chance to unlock the rare dialogue line from LFG teammates, "what is wrong with you why do you have 50K Skyburner's kills?"
I’ve been using it exclusively in PVE as a solar titan with lion rampant. With sunspots it’s an ad-destroyer and allows for nice health regen and consecration and incendiary allows for lots of ignitions. The in-air gunplay with it is the best. Too bad many Destiny players think stationary and grounded combat is best, and in-combat movement is too underrated. I be so slick with the and evasive with the rampants, it’s so fun!

Did you try any of the things that apply scorch with a sunspots build for titan?
Sky-burners is the best for that with hip-fire slugs that have more explosion radius than explosive-payload and scorches
Polaris had me laughing. My. Ass. Off. Very new and I’ve done a few nightfall raids. But my first Nightfall WITH Polaris 1. Mini bosses (those fucking abominations they like to throw at you) became smooooooth sailing. 2. The funniest thing was I heard Polaris’s sound design from one of my teammates and I couldn’t stop chuckling. Like oh jeez, this thing feels like magic for me so no wonder we’re just marching through this thing.

People do be sleeping on subsistence DMT. Got like 6k kills with it because it one shots every single red bar and never runs out of ammo, all while never needing to ads. Sometimes you can even keep up with crowd clear weapons while having a lot more fun
it synergizes nicely with the cranial spike x5 perk too
One note about symmetry is that it is really good in gambit, as it 2 taps players there too but you get stacks much more easily.

Does Ashes work on weapon scorch as well?
Sadly the burn won't be able to kill anymore on Polarice Lance, since scorch doesn't kill which is dumb.
I tried Polaris Lance in comp and it sucks! Feels like I'm using a gun with a brick tied to the end of the barrel. Out of curiosity are you using a chronus or ximm when you test weapons and rate them? Sure would be nice to know.
No I play mostly mouse and keyboard with raw input, and a bit of controller with no devices like that
@@PattycakesGaming I'm always amazed how effortless and smooth and you are able to play and your ability to make just about any weapon work. I'm 60 yrs of age and just struggle in pvp. The ttk is so quick nowadays that I just look at someone and I'm dead. I've watched days and days of your videos and just don't seem to get better. Maybe you can do a video for us older folks that might help us out. You might be surprised to know there are a lot of us older gamers playing D2. Thanks again for taking the time to make the content it's really appreciated.
@@captstaats4036 honestly it has become much harder to use off meta weapons in the strict SBMM world we live in now. Matches are full of players who pretend there’s $10M on the line every match haha. What do you feel you struggle with most in PvP?
For Sky burnerers oath, don't try to use hip fire unless you need to. Just stay back and shoot. It usually 3 taps people long range.

My DMT I use for PvE has subsistence which give me mostly unlimited yeehaw time.

It's true that some legendary scouts do better. I love Jade Wabbit, but it was retired when I discovered The Guiding Sight with Surplus, Iron Grip, RangeMW and various mid to long range sights in my vault. Yep sights... I have clocked up hundreds of Crucible kills with this scout in only a couple of months and is my favourite weapon. Put simply, this 150 three taps. if you saved one you might have a good one. If IB brings it back ....... oh dear.
Symmetry is my most used Crucible weapon 😏
Great list, but Jade Rabbit belongs in S tier. It is the best dueling scout in the game.

DMT still has the highest kill count of all my kinetic weapons in PVE and I wouldn't have it any other way
Fun fact about Polaris: now that it scorches, you can ignite enemies with 2 perfect fifth explosions if you're using the ashes fragment.

@@PattycakesGaming so Polaris is great in pve now? Prior I found that it took too much investment for the explosive rounds when sunshot already existed, and I would always have terrible damage and kills compared to anyone else. Better now?
@@mechamahou8467 Polaris is great for PvE. A lot of synergy with Solar 3.0. Sunshot is still good for low end content. But in higher end activities with beefier enemies, Polaris is much stronger.
@@L3RK i guess I felt the requirement of several headshots before procking the explosion/scorch would make the TTK in higher end content much too long for it to actually be useful. But im only hearing good things so I'll take it into a heroic NF to see how well it does outside of base content.
@@L3RK and hey what about Prometheus Lens? How would you compare it for solar builds? It has limited ammo(unless you use up the mod slots) compared to Polaris, but does a constant scorch effect and spreads scorch on kill. On paper it sounds like it'd be way more efficient. But I know the lens damage falls off in higher content. Or at least it used to. For context I haven't played since the final season of Beyond Light. So literally everything is new to me.
Oh the reason skyburner's is weird to fire is because it is still a projectile when ADSing making aim assist almost do nothing

Anyone else despise skyburners now? I liked it so much more before solar 3.0. Back when it fired faster from the hip than in ads, and when the hip fire shots had their tracking still. It made the gun feel so good to use to me. Then bungie goes and removes the tracking hip fire shots, and gives it a fixed fire rate now. Not to mention the scorch isn't worth shit, so that's not even a feature of that gun in my mind. I feel like they ruined that gun when they reworked it.

People sleep on jade rabbit for pve I can most of the time pop off 20-30 shots on high health targets, bosses ect without ever having to reload and it hits everything like a truck

the problem with scorch in pvp, is that scorch cant kill them. so poloraslance getting scorch is actually going to be a huge nerf in pvp. but a huge buff for pve.
