Efren as humble as he is would never call himself a legend

His secret is being humble and never got greedy. He plays, he wins. If he loses, he accepts gracefully. A great sportsman. Definitely a legend!
That's what defines a true hero in sports!.
Well he did have 1 meltdown (the Only Time I ever saw him really lose his cool) at the Peter Vitale Open, in Southern CA, not sure what that 9 ball Championship was called.
@@bonhzeppelin55 That's where he was going to smack Earl Strickland. That A-hole would've deserved it.
Steve Mizerak is a Straight Pool LEGEND. He won 4 championships in 4 years straight. He is really a monster but Efren Reyes was just too good in 9-ball for him. Efren Reyes is the GOAT of Pool.
He is. But Efren even though he is younger, he still have the power to take down the legendary Mizerak.
@@legendefrenreyes As much as I'm a big fan of Efren Reyes and got to see him when he was just starting to get into the American market I knew he was going to be big. With all that considered I got to be totally fair. I had the privilege of seeing Steve in action during his prime, before he pick up allot of weight. He really truly was something else. Sadly many of Steve's tournaments weren't televised, back in his prime it was not common for allot tournaments to be televised, you were lucky sometimes if they even showed highlights. So if you wanted to see Steve play you had to make an effort to go see him play which I did numerous times.
This tournament Steve was far removed from his prime and was struggling with numerous health issues, including back issues. 11 years after this tournament Steve passed away. So Efren was playing somebody that was 11 years away from being in the grave. Those 11 years was significant decline in health sadly for Steve. At this point in his career he was really no longer "The Miz". I'm sure Efren was extremely happy just to be able to play pool with the man himself. If you saw Steve back in his hey day. On some matches the only time the opposing player took a shot was on the lag. Steve would run the entire match out. Efren and Steve were two totally different styles. Unless you were really into pool Steve overall was a boring player to watch because his cue ball control was so good he would play near perfect position around the table. Efren on the other hand is hands down the best shot maker I think in history, so Efren is really fun to watch. Efren was able to workout of many jams either his opponent put him in or ones that was self inducing. Efren no doubt has had one of the longest stayed in his prime stretches of any other player. One of these days. Efren will be in Steve's position and some young gun will come along and run the table on what will be a old man Efren. Does that discount Efren from the work he did in the past. Absolutely not. Will somebody else say that this new young gun took down Efren. Who knows. But to asses this young guns performance off a old man Efren Reyes is that fair assessment No. Just something to think about.
@@bfg9000d1 Im a Filipino and have no idea who were his opponents or even their accomplishments so I thank for this information. The miz is a legend and for sure Efren has a lot of respect for him. Efren is old now, and the young players here beats him every now and then, but they all respect him. Legends never die.
@@bfg9000d1 Yes Efren is a humble man, unfortunately some of his fans aren't.
A truly great player. Never seen anyone play billiards as great as Efren Reyes.
L"lll
You're a legend when you beat legends and beating the current champions.
Efren did in fact beat legends. And several of the best legends ever. They R on U Tube. He has played billiards for well-over 20 years. The current champions have yet to play that long and defeat as many " legends" as Efren has. Current champions of billiards have not yet reached this height.
Effren is the most humble guy in the world of sports even though he is such an amazing player.
Efren Reyes prime was 1975 to 1995... but he is still winning till now amazing..
You have no idea what your talking about. He didn't come to the U.S. until 1985
All of us pool players, no matter your national origin love Efren Reyes. He's a joy to watch. I've played a lot in the Philippines and they do love mild mannered Reyes there in the P.I.
Absolutely. Have you met him?
@@legendefrenreyes No. Always hoped to run into him in Pampanga and play a game with him. Would have been an honor.
I never played pool in my entire life. Never had a chance to watch either in my younger years. But Mr. Efren Reyes made me hook up on UA-cam and greatly amazed by his tricks shots, his smiles and awesome humility. May he still live long and inspire our younger generation. GOD bless him.
Just think he travelled half way around the many times. Tired jet lagged and still gave a Great Performance a True Champion.👍👑
You must make a movie of your life about pool

Mike Lebron is the first non-American to win in the year 1988. He is a Puerto Rican.

This video was fun to watch. Well done. Effren is an amazing pool player. thank you.
thanks! Stay put!
Big thanks
Great video
Too much ads, it takes away the joy of watching the games
He was good specially when he was still young. Along Avenida Rizal in Manila , that is were he played billiards, he was really the best.
My father was a successful owner of a construction company for almost 50 years, he played pool as fun...I am sure that if he would have played pool professional he would be one of the best...he would tell me, I would charge you to see this shot... boy it was magic...full control of speed , English, and position for next shot...
Whos your dad?
Steven was way past his prime. Even Efren claims he played best in the 70's. It would have been nice to see them play a variety of games in their primes. Steve was really hot a straight pool for awhile.
EFREN REYES IS BY FAR THE GREATEST PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN PERSON.
love that into lmao
Awesome 🇳🇿👍
Steve Mizersk died way to soon.
I enjoyed watching Him play back in the day
Love your videos, but can you stop with the fake aftereffects of the lines and the flashes for "old footage" just looks bad.

Panay tayo Pacman. Sana bigyan din natin ng sapat na pansin at pagpapahalaga kay The Magician!
He beat the best here in money games played under all sorts of pressure. They should have an Efren Reyes cup of Champions. The best player in the world forever.👑⭐️👍
Where from?
He came from poverty as well and literally slept on the pool table at the pool place he worked at. He only played and practiced on odd hours when no customer was around.
Bakit wala pa subscribe r eh sikat ka.grabe mga taongayon
Great commentator in describing everything.
Efren - the one who controls the break controls the game.
Sakuragi - the one who controls the rebound controls the game.
It was a great shot. I believe he was actually trying to make the two. It’s easy to say different afterward
which segment?
Legend Efren Reyes the safe where he hit the two ball and his behind the nine. I think I commented on the wrong video. I was watching a lot of his videos last night. It was when he was playing the scorpion and he performed a kick shot. Most said it was a miraculous safety. Though it worked out that way, I believe he was trying to make the ball instead of playing a safe
He was planning for a two-way shot. Look again how he points his cue stick before the shot and you will see what I'm talking about. Thank you.
I would love to see his trophy room.
Nice content
Former World Champion Ronnie Alcano idolized Efren so much he also went toothless!

I wish I can beat him. But I have no chance against him.
Too many ads tsss! GOAT efren
In 1999, billiads digest published the top 50 greatest players of the century. Efren ranked 29th..I said to myself..WTF!!
Are they kidding? Efren Reyes dominated the pool world in the 1980's and 1990's, he even defeated Nicke Varner in the US open 1994. They must have lost their mind putting Efren in the 29th place.
The person who published the Billiard Digest must be on Drugs.
It's not fair tbh efren belongs to the top 3 yet alone top 1 in the world

5:45 nobody see the foul? One ball (I think it's 7) hit his stick while bouncing after hitting the cue.
Good observation. But the referee did not call it maybe because its the camera angle that you think he made a foul.
No it didnt hit the stick.
Its an optical illusion that the ball seemingly 'swerves' as it rolls, due to the shifting visual of white paint portion in the ball blending in the light hued wood stick making its seem like 'avert' or go away from the stick as if it hits the stick. This is the same concept in old black-and-white moving animation before to cause an illusion of movement.
Biyak lahat kay idol.
