    My understanding is that as BG & Insulin resistance improves the life of the RBC's may also live longer which may result in a slight rise of the HBA1C %.
    I really appreciate the great info on lab work - Thanks , I will show my notes to my Dr.

    Thank you soooo much. I get pellets and my doctor won’t even discuss hormone labs. He said just go by how you feel. This time I’m struggling with agitation, anger, and anxiety. I do my own labs. Total testosterone was 167! I had a really difficult time finding anything online with recommended levels for HTR. It has been running about 110-127.

      Pellets are not a good option because once they are inserted, your levels could be as high as a man's testosterone level, and you can't lower it or remove the pellet. Profits over patients. You may want to find a functional medicine practitioner who can help you.

    You speak to total testosterone but what about free testosterone? Your total can be high but free T be in optimal range. Free T is what is available for your body to use. Can you please educate us on this topic?

    This was so informative. Thank you. I have been trying HRT for about two years off and on. Finally felt good on the lowest patch,0.025 with 100 progesterone, however if I try to increase it, I gain weight, my boobs get bigger, don’t sleep as well, and I get irritable. I’ve heard that the benefits of estrogen on osteoporosis, brain and cardiovascular health don’t help at such a low dose, also I suspected the progesterone was making my LDL less responsive to my statin, which I need for hereditary high LDL. Was considering an IUD for that if it is an issue. Is it possible I would have benefits from the estrogen at such a low dose if it’s where I feel best? My GP said there are just some people who just can’t tolerate it. Is that true? I’m healthy otherwise, exercise regularly, eat well, sleep as well as I can etc. I really want to take HRT, my GP is also helpful with the on, off on, up, lowering trials over the last 2 years but I can’t seem to get it sorted out. Thanks for any feedback.

    so would u have any explanation for someone (me) who is 65 & have taken the Biote pellets for many years, exercised for 30 yrs, taken all those supplements u talk about.......etc.....& 7 months ago was told i have kidney cancer---not 1 symptom as a heads up. So the docs immediately took me off all the hormones--bled for 2 months getting off the progesterone. Just feel like I did all the things yall talk about then this happens.
    Thanks Dr. Susan

    I don’t find information that differentiates post menopause from hysterectomy. I had a radical hysterectomy five years ago at age 53. I receive pellets every three months plus take progesterone at night. This brings me to reasonable average levels but I still struggle to maintain healthy weight. I gained about 15 pounds after hysterectomy that just won’t budge!

    My blood tests were good until I started hrr. Hrt made me super hungry and all my lipids and blood sugar markers worsened. Why does hrt do this? Need to raise my levels? No doc so far understands this. They all say it should be the other way around. I also never had a problem with weight gain. When I started hrt I was already post menopause. Now what? I like hrt because it really helped with brain function and joint pain. I’m also on a AIP diet which is great for inflammation. But the constant hunger since hrt is driving me crazy.

    Units of measurement make it very confusing, especially in different countries to compare apples to apples so you have to compare to the ranges that your doctor and your lab uses

    Pellets are not FDA approved, are they? Is that not a concern?

    • @drsusan
      @drsusan  5 місяців тому +2

      I've spoken extensively about this topic. You can look back at some of my other podcasts - no it's not a safety concern and actually pellet therapy is FDA approved (for men) and testosterone is approved. It's a very long complicated conversation but tune in next week and I'll be talking more about that.
      Women do not have a testosterone product that's FDA approved- no one - , but that doesn't mean it's bad. We've had it in our bodies all of our life and it has numerous studies showing that it has benefit for sex drive -and is recommended by the American College of OB gynecology the menopause Society, and everybody else who knows about hormones.
      What's concerning is that the FDA hasn't approved it yet for women that is a big problem and luckily there are spokeswomen like Halle Berry and lots of other very important women who are speaking out about why we are not getting our fair share of attention with the dollars that are Spent on female health, but we are getting there
      Please look back at my previous video on testosterone and I'm making another video next week about these issues and please don't think that FDA approval makes things safe-think about all of the things that are FDA approved that are not safe and remember that pellet therapy is approved by the FDA ... not in dosages that are for women

      Bottom line pellets are a huge profit driver for a provider and a terrible way to get BHRT once they are in there is no going back and you have to suffer until they wear off. If a provider only offers pellets they care about their profits and not their patients = RUN AWAY FAST

    • @georgiabessie
      @georgiabessie 5 місяців тому

      @@blondebeautylushI disagree. If you can’t find a provider, maybe live remotely, to give you a hormone patch or prescription there is no other option. My quality of life is priceless and I will pay.

      Apparently approved in Western Australia. Drs I follow do not believe in pellets. Dr Mary Claire Haver, Dr Kelly Casperson, Dr Vonda Wright, Dr Louise Newson, Dr. R. Rubin and several others. Country I live in I can only get compounded T. I know some states in USA you can get T in small tube and use 1/10 th the dose the men would take. It’s “off label”

    Do you add estrone + estradiol to get total estrogen?

    • @drsusan
      @drsusan  5 місяців тому

      No, we did not measure total estrogen. We are looking at estradiol which is the primary estrogen that women make -my opinion shared by most experts is that the other two estrogens are not important.... and that is a long topic too much to write here, but Estradiol is the primary hormone that is studied be beneficial for all of the health benefits in menopause.
