  • Interviewing for a PM role at Uber? We worked with 12 Uber PMs, including 5 GPM Product Leads and 2 D1 Hiring Managers to create the Flagship Uber PM Interview course! Learn our four-prone strategy for systematically getting the Uber PM offer letter: www.productalliance.com/cours...
As you watch this video, pay close attention to how the Uber PM structures his thinking to mine for ideas, smoothly demonstrates his design and customer focus skills in an execution interview, and takes the opportunity to dig deep into the details of machine learning and A/B testing.
    Chapters -
    0:00 Introduction
1:03 The interviewer introduces the question: Build an ML model to predict granola bar sales in any Walmart store. Your model can only take in 10 variables.
2:04 - Andy establishes buckets to consider for the question and then brainstorms the corresponding variables. Pay close attention to how this allows him to create a more structured answer.
2:51 - Interview panel analyzes why Andy’s ability to structure his response from the beginning positions himself well to generate new ideas
3:40 - Andy talks through potential variables under the “time” bucket
4:30 - Interview panel talks about how Andy’s attention to seasonality as a variable is key for B2C companies.
5:20 - Andy describes potential variables under the “user” bucket
6:36 - Interview panel analyzes Andy’s response and ability to show off his design thinking and customer focused skills
7:21 - Andy talks through potential variables under the “macroenvironment” bucket
8:46 - Interview panel points out how taking the time to think about adjacent subject areas like economics helped Andy come up with creative variables
9:48 - Pay close attention to how Andy clarifies his assumptions with the interviewer, allowing him to ensure he is on the right track.
10:28 - Andy describes how he would build a model and test it
11:46 - Andy explains how he would establish a simpler model and how he would conduct A/B testing. Notice how the interviewer asked Andy for a baseline model; when asked a machine learning question, always make sure to define your baseline model as well as your ML model.
12:28 - Interview panel describes how Andy did a good job of explaining A/B testing, creating a baseline model, and explaining the pros and cons of machine learning.
14:24 - Andy goes more in depth into how he would implement and test his model
16:38 - Interview panel gives an overall analysis of Andy’s response.

A key insight for me in watching this is to make sure to talk about how you would test your solution in the real world even if it wasn’t explicitly asked in the question. Thanks for sharing this video

I like how Andy called out 3 high level categories to provide structure to his total 10 variable recommendation.

Noticed your guys' flagship courses are all for FAANG companies plus Uber. Does Uber pay on par with FAANG? Is that way you made an Uber course?

Hi Abone, great question! Yes, we have been finding Uber is paying on par with Google and Facebook and in excess of what Apple, Amazon and Microsoft offer for many senior candidates so we decided to go deep on decoding Uber's interview process in our full course: www.productalliance.com/courses/flagship-uber-pm-interview-course

does the uber interview process change per org like it does at apple?

    • @ProductAlliance
      @ProductAlliance  2 роки тому

Hi Murat, so the process at Uber does not change drastically per org as with Apple. Uber has some core buckets of question types (namely product sense, execution, technical, and behavioral). Depending on the team you are interviewing for, the percentage of questions you get from each bucket will change though.
