I’m an incoming freshman and I’ll be in a single. I’m excited to have my own room for the first time ever!
WOW! Lucky you!! decorating it will be fun!! 🤩
I’ve got a single as well and I can’t wait either. But I know decorating it will be a little hard lol
It's sooo worth it! I've had a single since second semester of freshman year and I'm going to be a senior this fall. I have to pay extra but I don't mind.
i'm literally paying an exorbitant amount of money to live in a single because i need my private space for my mental health lmao... like sorry but i need to be able to break down whenever w/o being embarrassed about it. also i need a lot of 'me time' if you know what i mean
That’s okay!! Some people love being with other people and others like being alone!!
Dorm horror story for me: I had a random roommate (don't recommend) who stole from me, she would also party every night and would come in late and loud, she also would argue with her boyfriend all night when I would study or try and sleep, we had our own bathroom in our room and she would be in there non stop, she took 3-4 showers a day! love your videos!
OH NO! Random roommates are such a risk hahahah. I’m so sorry!!!
Dorms are expensive and can be annoying. BUT I found it convenient because I could focus on my classes and not have to worry about getting enough work hours to pay rent. i just have too much anxiety around not being able to pay rent. But I was able to work a campus job and make a little money while still feeling secure. A single room dorm would be nice tho lol
FYI, my college prefers RA's don't have a job. So they can be more focused on the residents and their "pay" is free housing. Just something to think about if you want spending money! :)
I totally agree! Living on campus was easier for me pay wise than paying rent living off campus!!
And being an RA is such a good idea for saving money!!!
In Germany it's really cheap like about 200 dollars for a dorm room(sorry for my english)
@@stanelastforclearskinsuso9043 That's so expensive. Dorms cost 40-120euros a month here.
@@Mali_Ah where are you living?
Yess I needed this video! I'm starting college this fall semester and I've been watching so many of these videos!!
Yayyyy! I’m so glad it was helpful!!! 💖💖
Im starting next month too and im kinda scared.
I'm starting in 6 years, but I'm still watching this video. whoops
Hahah at least you’ll be prepared!!!
Omg
living in a college dorm prepared me for working on a cruise ship. the conditions are basically the same. the lack of personal space, the noisy roommates, the nasty roommates, the horrible food, the policy on drugs and alcohol and the fact that the people you need to interact with at school or work are the same people you live with.
Oh wow hahah I never thought of that before!! At least you were well equipped!
I’m a sophomore ... in high school lol I honestly don’t know why I’m watching this
hahaha at least you'll be prepared!
Sameeee
Lol I’m a senior in high school and two school years from now Imma graduate me watching these videos is to keep me on my toes me wishing to be out of high school
I'm a freshman in highschool too. But I just love watching college videos. I don't know why but I'm so excited for college!
Same lmao
I got very lucky. I’m going to an university for softball and have a scholarship that pays for everything except for my dorm which is only 3000 a semester. I’m very lucky
YESSSS, it’s not luck! You’ve EARNED it!!! 💖
Omg congrats! College adds up!
Im a really picky eater but thankfully my college has a buffet style cafeteria so i have more freedom with what i eat
thank goodness!! OSU has 3 of those on campus as well as many other cafe's and to-go areas, as well as restaurants so we have a ton of food options, but to me they got old real quick haha.
“I highly doubt you’ll have your own room if your a freshman”
Me: gets my own room because of COVID-19 (I really wanted a roommate 🙁)
I knowwww :/ It's so weird that is happening now!! I'm so sorry
I'm staying in a quad lol 😂
i have a room meant for four people all to myself...
@@MyDriftingDesk it's okay, it is what I make it! Thank you 💜
I’m glad I’ll have my room to myself
My college allows drinking in our rooms. This doesn’t sound true but yes. As long as it is brought in a bag it’s okay and if you have a room party you’re supposed to tell the r.a. so we are safe
It definitely can be different at different schools. But at OSU you CANNOT have alcohol in the dorms unless you are 21 and you only have a small personal amount for yourself. You cannot party in the dorms, unfortunately.
what where do you go omg
I’m an RA at Wright State University and I can attest to EVERY SINGLE MESSAGE! Sounds like OSU is massively more expensive than WSU, but I think living on campus at least one year is so essential to forming relationships with people and really being rooted with campus culture. It’s the last time you’ll be around a population of people who are the same age all there for the same goal!
As for horror stories, my grossest story is this one from moving out. I checked out a bunch of my residents and unfortunately had to charge several of them because their rooms weren’t cleaned and needed repairs. One resident in particular had a room that was definitely being used as a sex den (two twin beds shoved together 🧐). He left a few frozen meals in the fridge, so I gave them to him and we completed the check-out. Hours later when I left to go to an end of the year RA Party, I used my building’s stairwell to get to campus, and you won’t believe what I found. That frozen meal splattered E V E R Y W H E R E. It was all over the walls, two sets of stairs, and the carpet. All because he was pissed that I had to charge him. I didn’t have to clean it up, but it was definitely a sour end to my first year as an RA.
I so agree!!! I think everyone should live on campus even for a little bit!!
And as for your horror gross story...YIKES hahahah. That resident need to GROW UP.
Alexis Voisard my brother went to wright state on campus for a year and one of his roommates did heavy drugs
The whole "no cars for freshmen" rule is insane to me. Maybe bigger colleges have more on campus job opportunities but my college doesn't have many and they don't pay well. This girl is paying for her own education and I work 20hrs a week on top of 12 credit hours, homework, and rehearsal because I'm a theatre major.
I feel you!! Osu is just so big and we accept so many freshman that if every freshman was allowed to buy a parking pass there would be no spots for any other class lol. We do have TONS of on campus jobs so that’s good.
Idk either!! but there has to be something, I agree!
i recently came across your channel, and i love it!! i’m an incoming college freshman, thank you for all the advice!
Ahhh!! That’s so exciting!!! I’m glad it’s been helpful!!! 💖💖
Living on campus can be expensive, but I totally recommend doing it, especially and at least your first semester because dorming (and joining clubs!) is crucial to getting to know people! I saw both the good and bad of living on campus in my freshman year: terrible suitemates who never cleaned up after themselves and talked badly about me, but I also met some of my best friends in my building through hall events and getting involved in our resident hall association (the student government for students that live on campus). Living on campus is also great because you get a chance to acclimate to a whole new culture and the new reality of a college workload without thinking about getting up in the morning and driving to school AND the best part is being able to go back to your dorm and take a breather in between classes! Another tip to my incoming freshman: take advantage of your meal plan!! Most if not all schools require a meal plan if you live in regular dorms and especially for freshmen/first semester transfers so that being said get creative w the options they give you, take Tupperware and bring food back to your room, ask about alternative food options they might have! My school kitchens does the buffet style rotation of set items off a menu on a regular, but they also make smaller amounts of certain foods like grilled chicken, rice, and steamed vegetables every day for students w dietary restrictions and you all should check to see if your school offers something similar (perfect for picky eaters)
I agree!! Living on campus helps so much with getting involved and making friends!! So if you can do it, I would do it!!
My biggest fear about college is not being able to sleep due to noise in the dorms. I know it sounds like a dumb fear, but I have a sleeping disorder so I've grown up being really controlling and anxious about sleep. Hopefully it will end up as a learning experience and I'll get better with unpredictable sleep patterns?
Hopefully it gets better for you!! Good luck in the dorms!!!
At home right now, theres always a lot of noise. It's not the most comfortable, but wearing noise canceling headphones and playing a fan/rain noise helps my insomnia. Hope this helps even a little: 0
Headphones that are cozy work for me +sleep meditation on Spotify
As someone who lives in an apartment in NYC with siblings I am used to not having any personal space so I'm not that worried.
Love your vids btw 💕😁
You will probably be better prepared than most people then!! 💖
Don’t even need these videos and the woohooing had me dead😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 ITS TRUE!!!!
Marissa Nicole it really is😂😂 freshman’s definitely don’t want to be the dorm near by where you heard them doing it
NOPE! Hahaha
I’m starting senior year this fall and I’m already excited for college and I can’t wait to finish high school🥰🥰✨
AHHHH!!!! I hope you have a great year!!!
You just made me feel super blessed.. I was complaining about how I had to share one bathroom with four girls.. I didn't think about people having to share rooms or having communal bathrooms. Also that much for a parking pass??? ooh no thats crazy
Oh yes!! EXPENSIVE!!!
Would you ever consider talking about your rooming situation your sophomore year when you moved out of your dorm with the random roommate?
Omg YES! Hahaha. I need to tell that horror story soon! Thank you for reminding me!!!
Subscribed within the first two minutes of the video, love her personality 💜
omg thank you so much! ❤️
I’m glad that I’m gonna share my room with my sister 😍😍😍
aww that'll be so much fun!!!
I’m a incoming senior and was wondering what I should do to prepare for college . Could you make a video on this topic? Also could you talk about getting student loans and how to get them ?
I would LOVE to!! I can most definitely do this!! 🤩🤩
Avoid loans if you can or at least minimize them as much as possible. Apply to as many scholarships as you possibly can early in the year and even now while you have a bit more time because later on in the year you'll be focused/stressed on college applications, I personally didnt have the energy to apply to as many scholarships as I wouldve liked at that time
Everyone’s financial situation is definitely different but looking for scholarships is definitely something you can do your senior year to help out!!
Hi! I’m an international freshman who is going to Ohio in less than a month🙈 I really hope to meet you! you helped me a lot about what to expect in almost every aspect of college! Anyway, I don’t know if can because maybe you have already graduated😢 but I want to say thank you for all your videos! I’m pretty sure you have helped not just me but many people who is in the same situation🙌🏼 I admire you
aww thank you so much! ❤️ I haven't graduated yet!!! I will graduate in May 2020 though!! I'm almost there!!!
i'm watching these as a freshman in hs trying to prepare myself for college because i would LOVE to stay in a dorm!!! it seems fun but also a bit frightening as well haha
It's definitely so much fun but also a bit scary because it's so different, but you'll love it! :)
I love this. I transferred to NIU last fall and I 100% agree with all this! 👏🏾 Especially with the first one-no personal space! 🤣😭 But you learn to get used to it, and basically live with it. My roommate was good so we function well. I’m just wondering about how I’d vibe with my next one in the fall... 😅
The space thing is the BIGGEST issue!!! But if you get a good roommate it works well, I’m praying for you for this fall! 😂🤞🏼
I lost my bedroom when I went to college so my brother could have his own room, so I actually have more space in my dorm room than at home
Have fun enjoying all of your space!!
I had a roommate in college who planned to stab me but ended up breaking into my room and stabbing my mattress and stuffed animal. The school did nothing as well.
That’s crazy!!!!!
margaret capers That escalated quickly... what did you do to her? She’s nuts
Wtf psycho much
HOLY CRAP!!! Horror story for sure!!!
@@MyDriftingDesk, probably because i didn't like her boyfriend sleeping in the same room as us. It's my room as well, you know...
I live in Australia where basically all the dorms are single dorms :))
ooooo, lucky lucky!!!
I’m gonna be moving into my college dorm in two months, super exciting!! Great video btw!
AHHH! That’s so exciting!!! Have fun decorating!!! 🤩🤩
Ugh this makes me want to go to college NOW! I don't want to have to wait 5 years :(
omggg, 5 years is quite some time lol. you'll get there eventually!!
@Arden Delehanty Ahh, I can understand it! I’m a senior in high school and I’m also really excited for college. Just try not to treat these years like a transitory period - you might miss them when they’re gone. But whether you do miss them or you don’t, I hope you do lots of things that you love in between now and college 😊
i literally love u so much! i start school tmrw and i’ve binged practically all of your vids and they’re super helpful!!!
AHH!!!! GOOD LUCK! I hope you have a great year!
This intro is awesome😂 I keep rewinding and bopping out to the song
Hahahaha. I love that! 😂💖 honestly I do the same when editing hahaha
That last pro really helped solidify my decision to stay in the dorms in the fall. I'm a senior in college and I've stayed home all through college so far but I really want to take that intermediate step towards independence. Luckily I'm still eligible. For several reasons I think it would be good for me. All that's left is to tell my parents. I'm nervous.
YOU GOT THIS!!! Have fun!! 🥰
OKAY YOUR INTRO IS FABULOUS
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I Subscribed like yesterday and I have watched SO many of your videos! I love your personality and you have made me even more excited about freshman year!
Aww thank you so much!!! 💖
I am actually going to OSU in the fall so all of your videos are really helping me because I am so nervous!(:
YAYYY!! Welcome to OSU! You’re gunna love it!!!
Some of this depends on your school.
Last year (my first year which for me was freshman/sophomore) I was in a single and shared a bathroom with the room next to me, suite style. This year I'm in an on campus apartment which is technically a quad (4 bedroom, two bathroom, a shared kitchen, and a living room) but there are only two of us living here. There were 3 but one person only stayed the first semester (and then the two of us left both signed waivers to stay on campus after the school kicked everyone else out... 2020 is insane). Next year, me and three friends are going to share a quad apartment on campus, so that should be good. Also, at my school everyone is allowed to have a car as long as they buy a parking pass. And nobody is required to live on campus, it's actually mostly a commuter school though many do choose to live here.
On the other hand, I didn't make friends with anyone in my dorm last year. There is a guy I became friends with prior to the start of school last year (an advanced math camp thing the week before school) who happened to live on my floor, but otherwise nope, all of my friends are either from math camp before school started or from welcome week events.
of course!! I definitely prefaced the whole video with that it changes from school to school and I can speak on OSU specifically. But every school has different things and protocols.
your last point is actually the main reason I want to move on campus for my junior year. I want to basically practice being independent before I move out completely on my own and have to learn how to do everything all at once.
Of course, the social life and convenience of being closer to classes is also definitely a reason 😆
It's honestly such good practice!!! you learn so much!! have fun!! :)
I'm moving in in 5 weeks and am SO NERVOUSSS 🤧but I'm also excited for the freedom... Also, I'm gonna be in the bay area (UC Berkeley) so the cheapest dorm option was about $15k (yikes) and I luckily got that one so we'll see how housing goes for the next few years 😬Anyway I've been watching your channel for about a month now and I love all your videos! You're always so real and such a ray of sunshine in the stressful situation that is college :)
ahhhh!! That’s so exciting!!!!! I hope you have so much fun!!!! I’m so glad my channel has been helpful for you!!! You’re going to have so much fun!!! 5 more weeks!!!
@@MyDriftingDesk Thank you! Wow I still can't believe it's so close 😩Would you be able to make a video talking about tips for organization and time management? Also talking about tips for incoming freshmen about what to expect with classes and the general college culture/environment so we know what to expect and how to succeed academically and socially? Thank you again!
Of course!! I definitely have some organization and getting prepared for college/classes videos planned so be on the lookout for those!! :)
You are absolutely fabulous. How often do you do your grocery shopping? I think you should do an in store grocery shopping video and stock up on a bunch of water. Just buy about 10 cases that way you won’t need to worry about needing water for a while
Thank you so much!! I grocery shop every 2 weeks when I get paid!! I do have a Brita at home so I don’t buy bottled water, but thank you for the advise!!
at my campus, there is no double dorms so everyone has their own bedroom, depending on the room type (there are actually tiny af but ya know), so my campus has a huge hookup culture.... as for alcohol and drugs, we are in canada so drinking age is 19 in my province so everyone has alcohol in their rooms... RAs don’t really care... also allowed cannabis in the room but there are certain regulations for it (no smoking etc)
OMG wow, it's so different where you are!!!
Thanks for making this helpful video! I'm so excited for college this fall, but I'm also nervous to be out of state and in a completely new environment. It'll be an adventure for sure!
Life is all about the adventures!!! You’re going to have so much fun!!!
This was super helpful! I’m an incoming freshman at Kent state university also in Ohio lol and I’m currently trying to finish dorm shopping and starting to research information on Greek life!
aw yay!!! I have some friends at Kent!! You'll love it!! I have tons of videos on college shopping/hauls and on greek life!! So good luck and have fun with it! :)
I’m going to be a freshman at Kent state too! I’m out of state and thinking about Greek life but I’m not decided.
ItsRebeccaLynn omg I’m out of state too!! I subbed to you!
This really depends on where you go to school, the only thing I could really relate to was crappy school food. I got to pick my roommate and even when they do pair people up it isn't random (they use a survey to match people up), our room was pretty big, we were really good about sharing space and respecting each other's schedules (in terms of being noisy at night or early in the morning), neither my roommate nor I drink but it is pretty easy to have alcohol in the dorms because RAs only check our rooms during breaks and they aren't allowed to go inside our closets which all have doors, housing doesn't cost too much at my school but we don't really have the option to live off campus (they make exceptions but it's rare), parking is only $85 per semester, and everyone on my campus can take part in all activities whether they live on campus or not (I go to a pretty small school). I really love dorm life but it sounds like we've had vastly different experiences.
But essentially the survey still makes it random. You don’t know them prior to moving in or getting assigned. You definitely got lucky with your roommates and RA’s. But you’re right, everywhere is different!!
would you mind saying which school that is? it seems like a really great option for me since the whole dorm experience is very important to me but at the same time, it would be cool to be with someone similar to me!!
Room and board in my school is about $4,500 total. Our dorms are beautiful and our meal plan is unlimited. 🥰
Well, per semester. I should've added that. 💀
sounds about right lol. Ours is a little over $5,000 here at OSU and we have different choices for meal plans that all cost different amounts lol.
Jheezz this really opened my eyes, now im scared!!!
Nooo! Don’t be scared!!! It’s amazing!!! Such a good experience, but of course everything has pros and cons.
I am going to be a sophomore in college and my biggest thing is to not overlook community colleges. For my freshman year, I was able to get a single room in a pod-style dorm super close to my classes since the campus is smaller. Everything is cheaper, parking passes ($90 per year), housing ($5,000 triple, $6,000 double $7,000 single) per semester. Opportunities are much easier to get for amazing things on campus like jobs and office hours and smaller classes. But the best part is that if you want a 4-year degree if you start at a community college and transfer you will get the same degree as everyone else but you saved so much money the first two years.
AGREE 100%!!!! I wish someone would have told me this when I was a high school senior because I would have done this!!
This video is so informative. Thank you!
I’m so glad it was helpful!!! 💖
Ill be going to hs this comong year but I enjoy preparing for the future!!! So excited!!
And Also I live in Ohio so I might be going there one day!
aww that would be exciting!!!
this is 2 years late but I move into tOSU this august for my freshman year and I'm so excited !! :)
AHHH so exciting!!! 💕
Don't woohoo in the dorms. Yucky.
AGREED
Omg I fricken went to college and lived in a dorm and I had a late class and I fricken walked in on my roommate( she was random) doing s** with my brother
Tink Macaroni omg that’s horrible! i can’t even imagine😬
Who would rather be in a single or with a roommate? I'd rather be with a roommate cuz I'd go crazy without someone to help me-
hahaha. everyone is different. Random roommates can either go good or go bad!
Same! I want to have someone to ask questions to before I make friends. My roommate has been a lifesaver so far and we haven't even started yet 😂 this is her second year and my first 😂
I'm not sure if you have already mentioned this in this video or in another video, but I was wondering what the whole changing situation was. I'm a modest person and changing/getting dressed in front of people is not exactly my forte. Do you change in your dorm or in the bathrooms?
You can do either!! Whatever makes you feel comfortable :)
I’ve been taking classes all summer, but still, I can’t wait to go back to college lol. Summer school is just not the same. My campus is kind of small, and I lived on the edge of the campus, so I had to work for socialization while there was nothing going on during the weekends. This fall I’ll be in a more central part of campus and we have a new student body president, so hopefully we will have a better social and weekend presence this fall. Plus everything outside of class will be closer to me this time. (I was close to class but far away from social stuff last year)
Summer is definitely different than fall campus life!!!! I hope you have so much fun in central campus!!!!
My biggest advice to all incoming freshmen is make sure you set your boundaries with roommates from the start! There will be things you have to compromise on, but do not let them walk all over you! I had the worst experience first semester of my freshman year at OSU with roommates and had to move out and get a new roommate.
YES YES YES!! Have a sit down meeting RIGHT AWAY to get everything out in the open with expectations!!!
AMAZING intro and outro like omg
Yay!!! Thank you so much!! 🤩
Im about to get a dorm this fall for my first year in college
Its 500$ per semester and parking is 50$ per semester
Im in asia so its very different out here😅
I still dont have much details ab the dorm i havent seen it yet or even applied to it
Dorm life is so much fun!! Enjoy it!!
I'm in ohio too! But ill be attending shawnee state university. Our campus isnt a dry campus so we can drink in dorms but they do enforce underage drinking
oh wow!! yeah OSU doesn't allow you to drink in the dorms lol.
@@MyDriftingDesk our dorms are apartment style so maybe that's why 🤷♀️😂
once i get to go to college i would defently pick ohio for money wise but would liketo go to maryland for volley ball but ohio has a store and you could save so much money a guy that actually went to ohio didnt ave to pay no money at all but the store owed him 100 dollars back the stores called piggly wiggly but he does do couponing
couponing can be SO helpful!!!!
oh my gosh! our parking passes are free but I’m going to a small college haha
That’s amazing!!! Perks of a small college
I'm an incoming college freshman at Miami University. I'm from Texas, so I know absolutely nothing about Ohio. I'm super excited about dorm living though!
Aww yay!! I hope you love it!!! it's gunna be great!!
I like how she says woohoo like it's the sims
HHAHHHAHA
I lived in a european hostel for a month with random roommates...I hope I'm prepared lol. We all lived out of our suitcases and I went to bed 2-3 hours earlier than my roommates and we shared a bathroom with 3 shower stalls with twenty other girls...but it worked out
oh you'll be FINE lol.
That made me feel good for living off campus but then the second half made me feel awful about living off campus I left just as confused as I came 😂😂
oh noooo hahha I'm so sorry!
Marissa Nicole you should be 😭😂😂 all jokes aside you did a good job staying unbiased 😂
Do you have any tips for commuter freshman? I really didn't want a randomly assigned roommate and so I am living at home. I'm a little bit concerned about getting involved and making friends, though. So, do you have tips for commuter freshman at OSU? Thanks!!
SUCH a great question!!! Not many people talk about this!! I would definitely love to make a video about some tips for commuters and what to expect commuting!!!
How are you commuting? By bus, train, or public transport?
I commuted from two suburbs over, via bus every day at one stage. I ended up moving closer to campus to save travel costs / walked to university.
I have a car so I'll be driving to campus
Travel costs can be pricey for sure!!
i’d suggest just staying on campus. unless it’s a money issue, staying on campus is great as a freshman and running the risk of getting a bad roommate isn’t a great reason to stay at home. it’s a good time for exposure
First love your videos💕
Thank you so much!! 💖
Going into my sophomore year in college and my senior year in high school, so when I get to actual college I’ll be a junior so I’m super nervous
WOW! That’s amazing!!! You’ll be ahead of the game and saving money!
I know, and it’s not like the first two years of college are hard it’s just a slight bit of more workload. My one professor told me that university is so much harder like there’s so much more to remember. So I’m nervous.
Things definitely start to pick up your junior and senior year, so it may be a bit harder or a larger workload, but you seem like the kind of person that can handle it and will do great once you get to college!
I saw someone talk about random room mates. What is that? how do you get a room mate you know? how does it work?
If you go to college with a high school friend yall can request each other on some school's housing applications! so there is a possibility to get to room with someone you already know, however most people "go random" which just means they aren't already requesting anyone so they will be paired with someone!
For taking a number 2 in the community bathroom I would flush my toilet while doing it so the sound of the flushing was louder than me😂😂😂
HAHA, honestly it's a life hack!
Probably late.. but i an at a boarding school and.. our dorm supervisor to make sure we dont sneak out and/or asleep she walks in each room and grabs us by the ankle and moves it back and forth. Not really a horror story but it kinda is when she would do it at 3 am...
oh WOW that would be terrifying lol
i currently live in egypt, im in grade 10 so i started looking for universities and might as well move to america in 2 years ALONE in a DORM.
good luck!!! ❤️
I don't graduate for 5 years and I'm already watching these videos LOL
hahaha! At least you'll be prepared!
Im a sophomore in high school maybe a little to early💗
haha you can never be too early, just very prepared lol.
I have a question you probably dont know or won’t answer, but is there ANYWHERE to use a stove or oven on campus? You know for people who can cook?
at OSU there are full kitchens in every* dorm in the lobby area that you can use.
This is a serious question: which one would you rather do have the money to be able to pay your student loans off in full or be able to walk through a door having every single bit of knowledge that you have right now and relive your entire college experience?
I would rather go through college with all of my knowledge again 100% I would do so many things differently that i think would make a huge difference in my college career!!! But such a tough question!
This is so good 😊
Thank you so much! 💖
I’ll be at Osu this fall!
aw OMG yay!!! You're going to love it here!!!
I go to a small private college and a single room with private bath is $5000 (without meal plan) per semester. Free parking. Maybe I’m just lucky lol
omggg yes you totally are lol.
Im going to Ohio University in Athens in the fall!! Not too far from you
OU OH YEAH!!! Have so much fun!!
Freshmen with a single room here!!
SO lucky!!! Enjoy it!!!!
Where do you go to hang out without a car??
anywhere on campus!! or off campus, but you can take the bus or an Uber! You can still go places without a car! :)
hey! is it possible for me to NOT get a dorm with a communal bathroom but instead one with just a couple of people sharing it (I am going to be a freshman)? if so, how ? and how much would it be? sorry for all the questions:)
I actually recently posted a video all about the OSU dorms: ua-cam.com/video/-wTy8gktOSI/v-deo.html I hope this is helpful for you! :)
I needed this I will be a sophomore .my first year I didn’t live on campus now I’m changing schools and states and living on campus 😂
Ahhh! How exciting and of course nerve wracking!!! Have fun with it!! It’s an amazing experience!!
the college i’ve been accept to has private bathrooms AND private rooms for 2-4 people to live in for $5,000 or less, and $30 for parking haha
OMG WOW!!!!
What college?
omg what about # 2 I can’t in public 😭
hahahah, well you're gunna have to get used to it lol
Please turn on auto captioning for all your videos
I can definitely look into that! Thank you for letting me know!
Am I the only like 5th grader here lmao
I've just been binge watching these videos even though I have to wait a long time until I actually have to use this advice
hahaha you're going to be super prepared!
Thank you, Thank you.
you're welcome!!!
Me who 22 who getting ready for fall who wants to live on campus in dorms who also freshmen after she completed her previous college community work: haha I feel so nervous now and old 😥
don't be nervous!!! you're not old, it's never too late to go to school, enjoy yourself, and make friends!! I know it's different but I waited until my junior year to rush a sorority when people usually do it as a freshman because I knew I wanted to do that and WHY NOT!!! 💜 live your best life and don't worry about what other people have to say! 💜
my parking pass is 125 for the whole school year omg
:( welp
My suitemates were very obnoxious, and I've heard a lot of woohooing and smelled a lot of weed and saw a lot of trash (and one time I saw my suitemate naked)
oh goodness hahaha. dorm life is a rough life sometimes!
I have a good scholarship in a college where there is not doorms but apartments , so there is no a meal plan and no communal bathroom , that school sounds good ... I know I'm a very sensitive person when it comes to people being nasty and dirty I can't stand that sooo
oh wow that sounds amazing!!! 💖
@@MyDriftingDesk kinda , I still can afford it and its not even my first school choice but yeah I guess
My college has on campus suite style apartments for upperclassment so you still get to pay with loans and its not paid monthly rent-style and you get to be living on campus and have all that, but you arent required to be on a meal plan and you have your own room like an apartment (even though youll still have 3 other suitemates) and the 4 of you share a bathroom and kitchen and everything.
that's SO smart!!! I wish OSU did that!!!
UNG parking passes are free 🤤
ugh I WISH!
@@MyDriftingDesk it's glorious
The shitty orange wood furniture ( my dorm has a split bathroom -.- ) is that special?
I think that is! I’ve never seen a split bathroom between 2 different dorms like jack and Jill style lol.
How do u balance working and studying?
it's definitely hard, but I just schedule everything I do hour by hour everyday! I have another video on how I really balance it all! ua-cam.com/video/-u-DI8mK0Z8/v-deo.html I hope this is helpful! :)
I never lived in a dorm... but some cons:
1. PESTS - rats, mice, roaches. Yuck.
2. People can be dicks - roommates and flatmates / suitemates can be really mean, really kind or anything in between! You will fight at least once.
3. Having a part time job (or jobs) on top of full time study is super common! It's hard financially to balance need for money and the needs of study. I still work with students today (off campus, and unrelated to study)... and often they have to take time off work for study for exams etc. It's a hard balance for perfect grades, getting money for whatever you need to buy etc.
4. Financial help often has minimum grade requirements. You can't keep scholarships without high grades (most need A or B grades minimum).
1 is a YES and GROSS 😖
2 always lol
3 I totally agree!
4 yup! Read those guidelines so you don’t lose your scholarships for sure!
Do people look up in the communal bathroom??
I don't think it happens regularly lol...but I have seen it happen unfortunately.
That is disturbing and disgusting.
What if you have an allergy?
I can't speak for every school/dorm but some can make exceptions with proof of documentation for some of those things. You will have to talk to your RA and Hall Director and possibly doctor and disability services etc. to see. I hope that's helpful!
Marissa Nicole thank you :)
