immortal songs is a show where you HAVE to sing live, so here you can see just how good ateez is at live singing. they always sing live too doesn't matter what the stage is and always serve us immaculate vocals along with their mind-blowing performances 😩😩
Immortal Songs is the biggest TV music competition show in Korea and it's pretty hard to get invited because you have all sorts of the most respected artists in Korea competing there. Kpop idols don't show up often because it requires all live singing and the people you go against are like... veterans with 30 years of experience on musical stages for example (only about 10 kpop artists/groups won for 500+ eps). The regular episodes are all covers of one famous artist (here it was Turbo and Psy, Yunho's jacket had wishes for his anniversary which that episode celebrated). Then all winners of the year are gathered in the annual IS King of Kings episode where they can pick any song they want to perform. Ateez won all 3 regular episodes they were invited to (and with Psy it was a special invitation from Psy himself), showed mindblowing stages for the KoK ones and were also invited as judges to a special episode in the meantime. I think you might have more fun watching the original songs first and then Ateez versions to understand how creative they were rearranging the songs, or what they're alluding to in costumes, staging or choreography. My favourite of their IS performances are Black Cat Nero first, then the latest Nililli Mambo/Fantastic Baby/The Real, and then it gets hard to decide, they're all super cool (but bonus points for the vintage hip-hop rawness and San's low tones in their Seo Taji and Boys stage and the cringy/sexy Rain dance they kept in the It's Raining choreo).
The first song. "Black Cat Nero" is a very famous song in Korea. In your video, the person who wakes up and claps at around 04:40 is the person who sang the original song. The group's name is Turbo and it was a very, very famous group in Korea. Everyone sang this song and everyone danced along. Since this song came out in 1995, you should understand that the dance moves are simple. The second song is Psy's song, famous for its Gangnam style. What he said at 10:20 is, "What is it? It's PSY!" (Yun Ho is pretending to be Psy.) But they got closer and looked at it and said, "It's an imitation!" "What's this?" Turn around and boo. (You know, I'm writing a translator, not an English-speaking culture, so it can be awkward to say. I don't know if anyone said this yet but since u like more ballads and vocal based performances.. you should check Forestella They are and amazing talented 'group' (vocal quartet) actually They were agaist ateez in this show with the performance "Lazenca, save us" I recommend watching their scarborough fair, hijo de la luna, shape of you, bohemian rhapsody performances They are really amazing but really underrated outside of Korea and those who don't watch shows like that..
