I've watched mma long enought to know that the fans pretty much deeply hate every black champ it's a race thing 100% the black dudes get held to impossible standards while guys like Sean get praised for living as a Nazi most his life or Connor sexual assaulting dozens of women
@tjlovesfights you're fake and jumped off the bandwagon once Izzy started losing. If Izzy come back don't say shit positive about him, keep that same energy kid
I started to not like him(Woodley too) ever since they started advocating for BLM parades(call me racist i dont care). Its the arrogance in which they do it. Plus i think Izzy is lowkey racist sometimes. I remember seeing Woodley prefight interview before fighting Colby where he would only answer the journalist like “nothing matters only Black Lives blah blah blah” , i just wanted to spit on him then and there, it was the arrogance that irks me.
Same thing that happens with Rockhold, is that arrogance they've got. In Adesanya's case is worse because I feel he's a bully that plays the victim card everytime he can... plus the preference treatment he gets from the media and ufc commentators is crazy, but that's not really his fault isn't it??
To be fair he often gets more disrespect than he really deserves cuz the fans are often biased against him But yeah there are legit reasons why people started to dislike him which I can understand for sure
@@stanparker9556 ,,Nothing biased against him" Izzy gets called racist for saying the N word AS A BLACK MAN Colby gets a pass for actual racist insults against Usman Insulting the family of Poirier Making fun of a life changing accident of UFC legend Matt Hughes Jones is very well liked again nowadays despite being a literal criminal Strickland gets glazed for dropping sexualizing comments against woman But yeah nothing biased here for sure
I feel like most fighters are confident/arrogant to be fair. The only guy I can say he's bullied is Whittaker. Costa and Vettori deserved it if you remember those buildups.
The thing with polarising fighters is that the moment they start to lose or have boring fights, their god complex and big ego start to become negatives when as before they were seen as positives. Conor was always out of pocket, the things he said about Jose Aldo and brazil were just as bad as the things he was saying to Dustin but no one cared back then because he was winning. Conor is now only getting called out because he is losing fights, if he would have knocked out Dustin in his comeback people would label his comments as savage versus delusional. Izzy was always kinda cringe but back then people saw it as him being true to himself and unique, however now it is seen as cringe and forced only due to his boring fights and losses. Lastly these are the views of the mainstream fans, obviously, there are hardcore martial artists that never liked conor, izzy, or jones but the majority of fans will allow anything to slide if the fighter is dominating their fights.
I think you are missing some key point here. He didn't all of a sudden become unlikable it happened over time. I liked izzy too but then he dry humped Costa at the end of the fight. And Izzy talks about being a Martial Artist? Come on man how do you defend that. Then he slaps Vetoris butt and pretends to be hurt by the foot stomps. And I personally find it not cool when he does these celebrations on Costa, Robert and Alex after knocking them out. Izzy walked over to Sean after his loss and talked about sean should not disrespect him, but shooting arrows at Alex or dry humping Costa is totally okay? So that is one thing where he is just disrespectful. Then comes the cringe things he says, where he always try to act in a cool way. people see through the act and find it unlikable. Just like Kamaru usman. He might be a good guy but trying to be cool with that campfire voice is not gonna make people like him because it comes off as unauthentic And then that dog thing. Just disgusting.
I will say we can’t shame someone for celebrating their win if it doesn’t directly harm their opponent while they’re down. That does not count the humping which has aged terrible, I mean things like the machine gun and arrow celebration. That being said, I agree with all your other points and I think the main issue he is facing from his celebrations is that he acts like he can do anything and then begins to make fun of children, call out people’s race and past, but can’t take it when his is brought up.
bro genderbender still has a photoshopped picture of him with an arrow killing periera on the ground even after winning just 1 out of 4 fights. how arrogant do you have to be to keep that picture as your cover photo ? talk about being hypocrite and cringe.
being a humble and honorable martial artist is a myth this isn't an anime these people fight for money and they train to hurt other people, damaging their opponent's brain to make as much money as possible, acting humble and treating your opponent well after the fight is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, I genuinely don't understand how MMA fans think they're humble and honorable
He just needs to be himself like he is on his YT channel. A way more likeable and relatable person then the one that gets on the mic at a press conference. When he speaks it just reminds me of a badly written WWE promo for Roman Reigns back when they were trying to force him as a babyface.
On his YT channel, his words and actions are heavily cut and edited. Izzy would need the power of instant time traveling and redoing things to be the same person in real life, as he is in his YT videos.
@@somdutroy He would just need to stop acting cool and end up being cringe and stay a fun, likeable and goofy(in a good way) dude When he is just himself he seems like a guy that you wanna hang out with
@@somdutroy all he has to do is chill on the mic and not and try and be the main character. No need to rehearse cringy trash talk when u can let ur work in the cage do the talking for u

I was literally jumping in my room when he kod Pereira, but after dricus incident I was once again jumping with happiness when he got schooled by Strickland
This might be one of your best videos. Been loving all your content. Recently also really liked your breakdown of Spence Vs Crawford. Keep it up. You channel is elite. Thanks
I don't know if you noticed this but before the post-fight interview Adesanya begged Strickland not to make fun of him, something he is notorious for when he wins against his opponents.
Actually Izzy chastised Sean for making him out to be a sexual abuser of the recently dead pet dog that Izzy really loved. Not sure if that makes things better but it wasn't for general trash talk. Izzy felt that one part crossed the line.
I mean Izzy only does it after fights when opponents disrespect him so your point here doesn't really fit He was respectful to Jared after the fight cuz Jared was nice to him
I don't think his likability went up after the Pereira win. That was actually the final nail in the coffin for me. It turned my stomach when he mocked Pereira's son while Pereira was still out cold on the ground. Don't think I've ever seen a more fragile ego to be willing to hold onto a grudge with a child for so many years and then to do something so distasteful in a dangerous sport when you haven't even confirmed the other fighter is okay. That for me was when I went from thinking he was cringe to actively disliking him. He's a child in a man's body and I'm glad strickland showed him what it is to be a man.
the fact he tried to justify it so hard as well, i told one of my mates he's in his mid 30's and he was shocked and legit said coz of how he acted he thought he was in his 20's
Turned your stomach? You sound like a 🐱. Alex is the one who was posting videos of his son mocking izzy leading up to the fight. You need to watch a different sport if this kind of thing makes you sick
Lollll idgaf his kids are older than when they sat in mocked an unconscious izzy. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing kids or not. Not all kids are just dumb and don’t know any better. And now their older.
@@CultnreeBut the fact that you feel the need to beef with a child shows how low you are. Robert Whittaker himself said that if he acted out anytime a child pissed him off he'd be beefing till the end of time.
I will add my 5 cents on the "boring era" I feel like the issue with disliking Adesanya for being boring is closely related to him being champion. I would argue that if Adesanya tried to put more entertaining fights, they would be fairly more risky and he would probably lose the belt much sooner. I think the issue is that champions in general need to be calculated to keep on winning (unless they have some immense talent like Jones). Most champions with 3+ title defenses have rarely had truly spectacular fights - Izzy, Shevchenko, Usman, Aljo, Volk, Khabib. Same for fairly good fighters with winning streaks - Whittaker, Colby, Belal, Merab The most entertaining fighters are the risky fighters - Oliviera, Chandler, Prochazka, Burns, Fiziev, Costa. I hence believe it then boils down to you are either boring to win continuously or be entertaining and fail to maintain the winning streak. The bad pay and the high knockout bonuses also encourage risky behavior rather than slow calculated wins. The irony is that it is hard to make a superstar out of someone who wins inconsistently.
I think out of all the technical fighters Volk is somehow really entertaining even when he's completely technical, I donno why its like that but for me it is like that
Crazy because a specific person - Took Peds,, Beat His Wife,, Almost Killed a Pregnant Lady and he's more liked than Israel Adesanya 😅😂😂crazy how Fanboys are in the UFC
One thing I think people are forgetting, and something that makes both his and Strickland's story more interesting is their personal lives outside the fight game. After his 2nd Pereira win Izzy's happiness and likability were finally going back up and you could tell how happy and confident he was in the direct aftermath especially with that speech, but behind the scenes we heard about his ex girlfriend taking a lot of his money, we saw peeks of him saying he was unlucky in love, and I think it hurt him inside more than we would think, since being kicked down by that after his big moment must really really suck, I really do think it contributed to him seeming like a much more bitter person with the Dricus beef and ultimately at least contributed to him not showing up against Strickland. Strickland on the other hand went from a charismatic but ultimately kind of meatheaded heel persona that probably reflected who he was in real life to chilling out a little bit more while retaining that charisma, and his coach said the turning point for Sean evolving as a fighter was the happiness and support he found with his girlfriend, which played a role in him growing so much that he could take on Izzy. It's not the whole story for sure and there were many factors involved I bet, but despite it seeming a bit girly I think it's kind of a beautiful Rocky-like story for Sean that finding that love and support was what gave him what he needed to become champ when all odds were against him, and a kind of tragic story for how Izzy's pain from his personal life put so much darkness in him even after his biggest win in beating Pereira, and how that darkness is eating away from him as both a fighter and as a person. Izzy may be the main character of an anime, but we'll see if it's the kind of anime that has a happy ending.
Let's try not to humanize someone like Izzy, that man's too comfortable with molesting his dog. So much so that he recorded and posted his molestation of said dog, himself. I feel like whatever shit Izzy might've been going through should kinda get thrown out the window since he chose to sexually abuse a defenseless animal on camera. Not also mentioning what he does to that poor thing off camera. There's also the list of people he's disrespected on his way to the top and hearing him asking and pretty much begging Sean to not disrespect him in the press, yeah no. I don't believe a hint of respect or humanity should be given to such a disgusting and vile piece of human fickle matter. His ass should be flushed down an prison toilet already.
add on the constant hate train on izzy even after constantly proving self vs sean just kind of being himself aka loud and brash and getting treat as the "people's champ" I don't think it did any favors then 293 happened
The women’s fight before Izzy and Romero was 50 times better. They showed them two how it’s done. Getting in there and willing a win, instead of being scared and sitting on the outside no wanting to make a mistake so not doing anything.
him being drunk a few weeks before his fight I think is indicitive of what kind of mental state he's in. Im honestly starting to feel a little bad for the dude. I think he has some big issues that he's not addressing
Everyone's forgotten about this already but his ex taking a lot of his money after what looks like a break up that was really rough on Adesanya I think had a pretty big effect on his mental state and mindset. He's become a much more bitter person and you can kind of only see the light in him when he's on his yt channel or when he gets a big win like the 2nd Pereira fight. Ironic because according to Sean's coaches Sean's girlfriend is who inspired him to change and grow as a fighter, so much so that he was able to beat Izzy.
The dog was the last straw for me. Before that, I just thought he was a bit weird but no reason to hate they guy like some people. But seeing what hes comfortable doing to his dog ON camera, I dont even wanna imagine how he "plays" with it behind the scenes
to be fair, a lot of the stuff said about izzy is blown way out of proportion. on his yt channel he shows his real personality and genuinely seems like a decent person, it’s just in the ufc he tries to be the heel way too much
@@vtx9324 he touched his dog’s dick for like 2 seconds, ppl are saying he fucks dogs. he’s definitely weird for that, but ppl are just lying about the situation
I think looking at from a perspective of "linking him now" vs " liking him before" is leaving out some important info to take into account before making a statement like this. One simple thing to look at is his age and how long he has been fighting for. Another point are his training tactics have not changed much over the last 5 years. You combine that with the experience of already being on the top, they will be some decline; he is human after all.

Yeah it's true but those guys get called out for it, those guys don't have a big fan base, those guys don't have eggplant lovers like you defending them. You just looking for reasons to keep Izzy's prime juice on your face.
I think the biggest reason why Izzy is unlikeable is because not many outside of his fanbase actually know who he truly is. If you watched any of Izzy's UA-cam videos, he's VERY different from what he is in front of a UFC camera. The Izzy that's shown on his UA-cam is the Izzy everyone liked, the Izzy in front of a UFC camera is the cringelord. He tries too hard to be cool. If Izzy wants to be liked again, he needs to act like himself, not the main character of an Anime. (the dog video was 10+ years ago, anyone using that as a reason to dislike him never liked him to begin with)
People like for being fun fighter, a very chill and kind dude and also for being this fun weeb still What started to piss people of is him just trying to be cool while being cringe and hyping fights up which were trash afterwards
@@STiergoofball Yea, he needs to act like himself. If you watch his UA-cam channel, I promise you, you'll see there's such a huge difference. He basically is doing what everyone probably would do if they became a UFC champion / one of the biggest stars in the world, acting like their cool but come off as cringe
Do you think there is a possibility that you like a heavily edited and cut out version of Izzy, the one that Izzy puts out after loads of editing and post production? It is more likely that the person we see when he is put on the spot with live cameras is the real him (and not noise), as opposed to the one in his own YT videos.
every reason people have to hate on this dude has almost nothing to do with him in the octagon. everything is outside, maybe if these mma "fans" took a break from injecting testosterone and worrying about how a fighter promotes their fights and actually watched they fight they would appreciate whats in front of them instead of finding a reason to be filled with hate. this sport has been plagued with one of the most toxic fanbases ive ever seen and im sure it will only get worse. this is not a reflection of mma in anyway, its a reflection of the effects media have on us as human beings. we must do better and appreciate these talented fighters as the come and not when theyre gone

Pretty good man, I think you summarize well why a lot of people don't like Izzy. For me personally, I love martial arts and Anime since I was a kid, Anderson Silva was a Hero to me, watching him fight was like watching a Matrix movie, then this guy from Nigeria that likes Anime and Anderson appears, it was automatic, I was on the verge of becoming a fanboy, he was always goofy but I ignore that. Then come the boring fights, extreme lack of respect for his opponents, the Du Plessis situation and the DOG. The guy has the body of a champion but not the heart or mind of one, I think a perfect contrast to Izzy is Poatan, he seems like a cold blooded killer because of his face and the fact that he doesn't English, he even express that people persevering him that way bothers him , but if you speak Portuguese you will see that he is a really nice guy, respectful and determined, which shows, after all, when he lost to Izzy, his fan base kept supporting him. When Izzy lose either his fans turn on him or go into denial mode and create excuses for even animal abuse. I want Izzy gone and the division to move, it's time.
6:32 - Love Derrick Lewis, but I agree he feigned the KO. Also Chuck Liddell in the most recent Tito Ortiz fight. He almost laid himself down gently lol
I never particularly liked Izzy and still dont. For me it started with the way he treated Whittaker in the build up to the first fight. What further cemented the dislike for me was the Gynosanya stuff. Most likely a result of PEDs. He handled his loss to Jan admirably, which was a positive point for me. Cannonier fight made him look like a clown. Massive hypocrisy for calling out Whittaker being kiwi and Australian while representing Nigeria, New Zealand, and China. He was wrong on the Dricus stuff, and the dog stuff is offputting. Overall, just dont care for the dude.
Hate is what drives these people. They're normies. They don't have enthusiasm for the sport. I've even seen people hating on Jiri saying he's overrated. Jiri's fights have the place of some of the greatest fights in MMA of all time. I'm convinced most of these people aren't even into MMA. They just know enough so that their hatred can latch onto something and their anger unravels. They are not here to enjoy the sport. They are here to be toxic.

I think there's a misconception with your vid and why people hate Izzy as a whole. In general your vid was well detailed when it came to his "fights" but not enough about his character / personality as a whole which is the most crucial part of people hating on him. - The "sweet" celebration as you call it, had many many fans sending even more hate due to Izzy trolling Alex's son. - The time he called Dricus Du Plessis a "cracker" and had many many fans going at him for "racism". - The story about his dog - Him painting his nail etc etc. As a said, his personality is the main part of people not liking him.
What does him painting his nails have to do anything? That would be placing your own bigotries onto someone who decides to live their life differently than yours. I can understand why people may not be fond of the periera situation or dricicus situation but I think context is important for said circumstances which people often toss out the window when it isn't convenient for their argument or rationale.
The thing about Alex's son is when he trolled Izzy those years ago, it was seen as "cool" or "savage" and people were making a mockery. Izzy returns the favor, all of a sudden he's the devil. Perhaps Alex as a parent should learn to keep a leash on his kids instead of encouraging it like he did in the UFC Embedded video.

Nobody is talking about Psychology and how it plays into fighting. It’s like this Izzy had trauma from being in school in New Zealand. He was literally bullied by a racists kid regularly from what he has said about his hard beginnings. Then comes along Sean. A big lunchbox for a head ass bully that was rasied to be a literal neo nazi as a kid. Turns up to a press conference an puts you in your place verbally, has more respect than you and clearly gives a fuck less than you. Then gets booked to fight you an he exposes all your dirt, I mean everything. Izzy had no chance. He lost before they got in the cage, mentally he was afraid of Sean and what he represents. Izzy would destroy Sean, normally, if Sean wasn’t who he was out side the cage. Childhood trauma is no joke. I Hope Izzy gets his shit together, humbles himself an comes back stronger
Adesanya is a man and champion who has represented himself and us new age MMA fans with high class and glory. if your basing your loving or hating him on just drinking and driving or “cringe antics” then you aren’t a credible source.
What makes adesanya unlikeable is that he's toxic: he humiliates his opponents in victory, is extremely racist, played victim with the boob thing after taking gear, and recently begged strickland not to humiliate him after he lost (the fact that adesanya even thought about that shows adesanya was planning on humiliating striclkland if he'd won) Compare his behaviour to his opponents: imagine if blachowicz, pereira and strickland had humped adesanya or taunted him after beating him, or if whittaker had started trash talking him over the robbery in their second match
It blows my mind that people think that Izzy was the weird one when he confronted Dricus Du Plessis. I'm not saying the situation wasn't cringe but Izzy is not the one who started the cringe. A South African white man told a real black African that he's not real African or black is super disrespectful. I know that his country probably whitewashes the history, but You can't get around the fact that you're occupying other people's land and you did them quite poorly. Nobody should be surprised at Izzy's response ..... Every person from the African continent and overall diaspora are extremely rooting for him to beat his ass. That man cannot be surprised at that. How else was that supposed to go. You got attention. Hope you like it.
The hate started with the boring Yoel fight that had him at times literally running away from him. And then there was Costa and the Gynobender debacle. This is when we found out that he was a cheat. The hate amplified from there.
I think a lot of what Izzy does is taken too seriously besides the dog stuff. And even that I feel like people blew that way out of proportion searching through his twitter follows. In that last post fight press conference, no matter what he said or did, he wouldve got hate for it.
I mean he made no excuses there and said Sean was simply better People just need to understand how he must feel emotionally after such a loss I don't know if I would react the same way But I don't blame him for wanting some time for himself after that
I don't think that it's taken way too seriously, I think that he is really good at setting himself up for hate. Beats Periera and says "fuck his kids," then starts calling DPP the N-word, then says that he's Chinese. All of this cringe stuff set him to be hated before losing to Sean Strickland. Who already was tarnishing Izzy for the dog thing (which was set up by Izzy). And then the drunk driving he did months ago came back to haunt him after losing the title.
@luliu4572 Yea, but he was also very respectful to Pereira backstage and many people outside of the UFC. I think a lot of that gets overlooked, but i get what you mean
@@ZolPsykoI agree. The man has good moments. I will commend him for taking a loss. And he is one of the best to ever do it. I will never deny him that. But the moment Alex Periera shows up in the UFC, the man lost his chill in a cringe way. He needs to smoke a joint, listen to lo-fi hip hop, stare at a lava lamp, something like that.
I didn't know that shirt was from anime. But, I thought it was cool that he wore it more than once in front of the camera. Made him seem common man and such.
I was a big Izzy fan…I knew him before he even came to the UFC..loved him as a kickboxer..seeing him take over the UFC was a joy to watch..but since he became the champ and started to make more money and became this big star…guy lost all his heart…Strickland was mocking him in the 5th while he knew he was losing and the dude did fucking nothing…Sean had his arms down and didn’t even try to knock him out or anything…now compare that to the 5th round of the Gastelum fight…guy clearly lost it…plus he becomes cringier and wierder everyday…I don’t get how can you be a fan after the loads of shit he does
The fact is Izzy has always been a cornball and his style benefited from fighting people who played into his style, during his run his fights were boring bc his opponent wouldn’t engage with him and he has no pressure to his game. Jan, Periera, and now Sean exposed the glaring whole in his game
My big issue is everyone goes after Izzy for the boring fights when it takes 2 to make a boring fight. The drunk driving is the worse. To be that reckless and 3 weeks before your fight is unprofessional and irresponsible
Bro Izzy has always been really weard, Idk how people could keep calling Cejudo the king of cringe while Izzy was in the roster, Cejudo at least does it as a joke while Izzy is actually that way
People are fickle. Izzy shredded an entire division, put in more work, defended his title more times, and fought more than any middleweight and most of the rest of the roster. Arrogance? According to a bunch of people who wouldn't dare even attempt what he did? Izzy is a human being. Just think about that all that we - as men - go through with our personal lives when we're not at work. And our work doesn't involved getting punched. I'm glad Izzy lost. He needs a mental health break from all of this.
Personally I think it depends on what type of fan you are. If you mostly a fan of the sport and watch who put on the fights and not dwell into their personal lives, you'll like more of the fighters. If you sit and dwell into their personal loves, at some point you'll find something that you don't agree with, and we all know how MMA fans like to bitch about outside antics lol. If you don't dig deep enough, you won't find something to bitch about, unless it's something they do that affects their fights like missing weight, excuses, etc.
Thanks for bringing up the manhandling by Jan. I know that its a different weight class, but seems that UFC forgot about it COMPLETELY before the fight with Strickland. I mean, Adesanya reached out for the double, and got schooled. Izzy got all the slack he could get from UFC heading towards the fight with Sean. And he basically did worse than imaginable.

I haven't seen this era where Izzy was a fan favorite or otherwise liked by everyone. Before the Whittaker fight, people were complaining that he was fighting for the title and saying that he should have to fight Romero (much like how people think Topuria should have to fight Max. It's the "I don't like this person so they should have to beat the other guy no one has ever beaten to get a title shot 😡" schtick). After beating Whittaker, folks just disliked him more (and complained about his post-fight actions and the dancing before the fight). He's the opposite of Strickland and is unique and different, instead of being relatable to the average normie (and he's a very technical fighter, which said normies really hate).

He might be a good guy but trying to be cool with that campfire voice is not gonna make people like him because it comes off as unauthentic

@@CultnreeBut the fact that you feel the need to beef with a child shows how low you are. Robert Whittaker himself said that if he acted out anytime a child pissed him off he'd be beefing till the end of time.
I will add my 5 cents on the "boring era"
I feel like the issue with disliking Adesanya for being boring is closely related to him being champion.
Same for fairly good fighters with winning streaks - Whittaker, Colby, Belal, Merab
The most entertaining fighters are the risky fighters - Oliviera, Chandler, Prochazka, Burns, Fiziev, Costa.

Everyone's forgotten about this already but his ex taking a lot of his money after what looks like a break up that was really rough on Adesanya I think had a pretty big effect on his mental state and mindset. Great video and great channel. Always really enjoyed your flow and style of your videos, very unique in the MMA space.
This is what happened when an interesting fighter become a 'boring' fighter. You expected more interesting fights out of him but thats not how it works. when he become champ, he fought the best contenders in the division. The challengers he fought was hungry, the pressure is on izzy. Izzy has to fight smart, technical, do what he did best. I dont think he become a boring fighter, he just have to fight that way given the situation.
I think a big thing that didn't help as well was that Izzy's W over Pereira led to like 2 months of Tweets gloating about it.
The ref in the Potan fight saved Iz from his first knock down, and it was an early stoppage.
Without that early stoppage the rematch between the two would have been a year later or a blood bath because he wouldnt have fully recovered from accually being Koed

It’s a hard time to be an Izzy fan. I’ll never turn my back on him because he’s the reason I’m even a combat sports fan today and I think the dog video is blown way out of proportion. Weird ? Yes, but not as bad as everyone’s making it seem. I just find it odd how ppl like Jon Jones, Conor McGregor or Colby Covington are genuinely worse ppl than him. But still get the same amount of love.
- The story about his dog
- Him painting his nail
etc etc.
As a said, his personality is the main part of people not liking him.
Nah for real fans it’s then boring fights like against romero

I haven't seen this era where Izzy was a fan favorite or otherwise liked by everyone. It's the "I don't like this person so they should have to beat the other guy no one has ever beaten to get a title shot 😡" schtick). After beating Whittaker, folks just disliked him more (and complained about his post-fight actions and the dancing before the fight).
