I absolutely love lizuka. I never knew he was such a fun guy. He really deserves the best for trying so hard and dealing with the us (one of the craziest fans in the world). I truly hope he has a team as cool as him for future games
Iizuka seems like a really nice dude who probably does care about the Adventure titles. It likely is just Sega of Japan executives hurting the franchise most of all. Such a shame there's no chao garden, but this was a fun video.
As someone mentioned already, Iizuka favoring SA2 makes him based af.

Sonic adventure 1+2 remake with nice features like eggman and rpuge on adventure 1 action fields etc
They get feedback from those games
Create the perfect sonic adventure 3 + momentum

This interview showed me that he really doesn't that much control of the Sonic series and honestly I feel bad for him.
@Edward_Satanic Yeah it's clear that Iizuka still cares for the series or else he would've left many years ago. He most likely has to work under SEGA's poor working conditions as they have the most control over the franchise.

I hope they make a sonic maker one day. That will sale like hot cakes and I want a chao garden too! If they can give shadow a gun because the fans asked for it. And add stupid sonic "oc" to the official game canon. Then they can add a chao garden because it would make a lot more sense and bring in more money. Then listen to stupid question like add more "original character to the game" in my opinion.
We've got the Sonic Studio fan project, though, which is the next best thing to an official one

Izuka said he knows about the next Sonic game but it may not be the next mainline game. There are lots of spin-offs like the racing games, mobile games, and Olympic games

I don't want to be boring, but Iizuka didn't know because that phrase was a localization thing, that's not in the Japanese version, in fact several phrases of the game were changed in the localization.
Y'know for all the crap Iizuka gets (rightfully so) he really does seem like a genuinely nice guy who truly cares about Sonic and the Sonic franchise and he seems to have a sense of humor

Remember what Aaron Webber said "everything is canon" which means Sonic's crossovers have to also now that IIZUKA (not Lizuka) is acknowledging Sonic meeting with Mario, so we have to do the same for Smash and the info that comes with it.
Webber even used it in response to include the concept of 'Tails dying and coming back to life', but according to TAKASHI IIZUKA @ 6:57 it is the EXACT opposite: Tails NEVER died (nor came back to life).
Canon to Sonic but not Canon to Mario

SA2 is my favorite 3d Sonic game as well. I guess this kind of confirms that he has wanted to make SA3 for a very long time but Sega has just said no.

I always feel bad about Iizuka for essentially being the punching bag for the community. Especially if he is asked with something complex, like lore and he has to give out an answer even if he's not the main writer or the one who call the shots for the lore, only to be shat on by fans for decades because they didn't like his answer. I feel like if it weren't mentioned by one of the Origin devs, people would still be shitting on him for everything he doesn't have control over.

The Super Emeralds are in another dimension? Bruh, aren't they literally just the Chaos Emeralds but linked together with the Master Emerald? That's what appeared to be shown in both S3&K and flashbacks in Sonic Adventure.
I wish we'd get to see Hyper forms again tbh. Retconning the Super Emeralds to be in another dimension is kind of a lame excuse tbh.

Sonic adventure 2 is the best game out of the series and that was 20 years ago.
It's definitely my personal favourite as well I also really like 06 story and charecters and I love Unleashed and adventure 1.

open-zone, as described by Iizuka seems to intale that it's similar to something akin to Super Mario Odyssey where there are multiple open levels with tasks and things to collect. I'm on Iizuka's side here to call it "Open-Zone" instead of an "Open World."
