WOW! You've been doing this for years. Your beats are dope too! I remember watching one of your 2010 videos years ago back when you were on the MPC2500. You had the big "2010" sunglasses on. Hahaha. I also have an MPC2500 and a MPC X. I bought my first MPC in late 2004 (red and blue MPC1000) and my first "flagship" MPC (the MPC4000) a few months later around February of 2005. I still have my MPC4000 as well (I'm NEVER getting rid of that one). I no longer have a MPC1000, but I replaced it with an MPC One and more recently replaced the MPC One with the MPC Key-37, which I think is the best portable take anywhere MPC for my needs (because it has a keyboard built in and I like to play keys). I don't do much sampling. So yeah, I use keyboards and synthesizers a lot in my beats. BTW, I did try out the new MPC 3.0 software on my MPC Key-37. While I do like some of the new features Akai added, there are still some bugs that need to be fixed, and there are a few things I like in 2.0 that were removed. The main one is being able to load a bunch of programs and select from a list of multiple programs to assign to a track. That's the way I work, too. A lot of people like the old-school MPC workflow. Why change it? But yeah, because of the major bugs that still need to be fixed and the fact I have a lot of older projects from 2.0, I downgraded back to 2.15 and I will stick with that for a while until 3.0 is stable enough and Akai decides to bring back the major features they omitted. I know they're going to bring back track mutes, which is great. I hope one day, they decide to bring back multiple programs, too, and have program/track assignments work the same way they do in 2.15. To be honest, that's the main thing that's a deal breaker for me. I like to load multiple programs at once and freely pick and choose any one of them to use in whatever track in whatever sequence I want. This is how I come up with ideas, too, because certain drumkits or sounds can spark new creative ideas. Then, I can work quickly while building a track. Oh yeah. You wanna know what 's absolutely great about 2.0? I took the first beats I ever made on the red and blue MPC1000 from 2004 when I first got it and, to my amazement, I was recently able to load them them up in my MPC Key-37 (programs, sequences, everything!) and with a few minor tweaks to the drum programs, they sound almost exactly the way they did back in the day on the MPC1000!!!! I'm talking about beats from 20 years ago!!! They still load and play on these new machines!!!

I have mixed feelings. I installed the beta and I love the arranger, the new interface, mixer… but opening old projects from MPC2 or MPC1000 is being a pain. From 6 or 7 tracks, it now creates over 30 different tracks (most of them MIDI) and it takes ages to rearrange everything. I could not find the way to delete a sequence (it’s probably there but I cannot find it). Creating song arrangements from scratch with new version is a pleasure though. So for now I’ll be downgrading until official version is released and then I will think about it.

Exactly. Why jump into a crowded arena? Should’ve kept the workflow. They’ll gain some new and lose some longtime users. Or they’ll just stick to the old version.
I feel you dog but I believe they are moving towards a new flagship. All the talk is that nothing has been better than the MPC 3000 sonically. I assume the next flagship will give us that sonics back. This will be amazing for your style of music. Nice beat!
is there a mode or button somewhere i heard about or read about that makes all the new version mpc's sound like the old just by ticking the box or button?
let MPC's stay MPC's and daw stay daw. i'm ok with innovation but dont slaughter the great and trusted workflow that the mighty Roger Linn invented and gave us. this 3.0 is not innovation, is homologation regarding the main structure. the new stuff like slice motion is great but i dont want to ditch my versatile workflow for just that and a few more bells and whistles , no way. peace.
@@JayLayneWill this new software help you make better beats. No. It's about the music not the equipment. I know people with new everything but music is still lacking.
I couldnt even get my external hard drive to read with the beta. All my samples, plugins, expansions etc are on that so thst bummed me out completely. Tried the default kit etc and there was one plugin that was already onstalled but overall i wasnt really wowed by the workflow. Like you and many I loved the separate programs and ease of function to get to designated areas. If they tweak more then maybe I'll dive into the fonal product but i unfortunately had to roll back as well for the time being.
Great points. I agree with you completely. The current MPC is already pushing its technical limits. If you want to add more functionality… stems, an arranger, etc. It only makes sense to build a new unit that has more processing speed and storage. I was never able to get one of the classic MPCs. But I believe the MPC X and MPC Live 2 was a nice step from the golden era to now. I don’t want to create in a DAW it just doesn’t flow for me. So I definitely don’t want my MPC to become a DAW. 3.0 changes would have been better done to the MPC desktop software.
Makes sense, it's a *beta* version of the software. It probably shouldn't have been released to the general public, but releasing early software to the general public has become the norm. It probably should have been a closed beta instead of a public beta. Making it a public beta only opened Akai to a lot of criticism, as many consumers don't truly understand that by installing the beta software, they are in effect agreeing to be beta *testers* for software that *isn't developed enough to be released for sale,* hence the software being offered for free. When this is done in the computer world, it is advised not to install such software on one's primary computer, but rather a backup or spare computer. The same logic would apply here, but I'm not sure that the average MPC user has a spare machine to use just for testing purposes. 🤷🏻♂️
The good news is that the updates are not mandatory nor permanent, and Akai seems to be listening (something gear companies rarely do) so changes are being considered; so we'll just have to wait and see what sticks. For now, for anyone who loves the classic MPC workflow -- don't update your MPC.
Just went back myself, the looper export options are gone. I use the looper with every project to make my own samples playing guitar and bass, now I can only put loops in an audio track instead of a drum program/pad.
@@extendedplay8830 because it's a different machine made to what it do. Which is dope. Now they should make Something that's more like a DAW workstation. Pads, keyboard 🎹, hook up monitor, mouse, load real PC plugins etc.

Malo does not make beats like that. He doesn’t have that many sequences and groups of sequences are different beats all in one project. He does several sequences to make a beat and puts it in song mode. Then he explodes his tracks and takes them to his DAW. Now with 3.0 he’s using the arranger with one sequence to make a whole beat in song format.
@@boutstaxx they should have just made an arranger add on that you can purchase like they did with stems. Then they could have made some money off the newbies.

I’m having a hard time understanding what it is you have a problem with, the way things are categorized? I still can load up key groups, drum sets, plugins, I’m having a hard time understanding why you don’t like them changing the way it’s presented? Honestly it’s starting to sound like you should be using Renoise, it has what you’re looking for and in a better way, too. It seems like MPC 2 is still going to be compatible with the plugins and key groups and anything you would want it to be compatible with for a long time, so if you don’t like v3 there’s no reason for you to upgrade, keep it the way you like it homie🎉
@@supreme7g I just like it because I’ve only had my MPC a month or so… once I found out 3.0 was coming I just stuck to sampling so I’d be a blank slate. I know I’d be devastated if any of my trackers went to a timeline and piano roll so I get it.

Supreme, The Programs are the same as the Drum Tracks. You can do the SAME thing with the Drum Tracks, save them separately and load them into any project. I keep all my drums on one Track/Program/Kit. Or I can use multiple if I want. Hey you can even save separate Track Effect set ups, and load different effect configurations to your tracks. The players change but the game is the same. 👍🏾
@@supreme7g You can still load up to 128 programs per project. You can even load the same program 128 times, but each one will independent. You can still make 5 beats from the same program. you can load a main program that you'll use to make your edits & create dummy drum track record your seq/riff data & use MIDI Send to send all the dummy tracks back to main drum track/program that you can use to edit all the pads in one place. You can also create a track for only the pad(s) that will be use on each tracks - this wouldn't be the way I go, but it's an option. I started with the MPC1k in 2005 & traded for a 2500 in 2008, got the RS7000 in 2014 after I realized a different clip-based sequencer would be better for me but I've been using the Force in 2021, so most of the new 3.0 stuff is old news to me & other Force dudes I've had way more time to get used to these "new" changes. Maybe I missed something or maybe you just didn't spent enough time with 3.0 or whatever, but everything you was complaining about can be done 3.0, It just done in different. Them keeping the ability to use both OS is smart as hell. It allows them to give the same customers the option to pick their own beat making journey, without selling & or buying a new model. arranger is cool for after you made you long seq & want to edit it , while see all tracks at once to add automations & other final song edits. What really suck to me about MPC3 is that it doesn't have the force clips, matrix & navigation view. I think it's too early to judge MPC3 since it's just a beta, which is the first time Akai has ever did this which maybe why some people don't realize that & are making premature decisions.

The issue he's referring to is not about learning anything new. The video he referenced goes into more detail, but the issue being addressed processing power and (more importantly) ram. The average middle of the road smartphone nowadays has 8-12 gigs of ram. That being said, akai, is squeezing a lot of functionality out of the hardware that they're working with. They're putting a lot of time and effort into optimizing their software, which in turn shows a lot of dedication to their end users.

@@KeltzzzzNaw bruh! You have to get outboard gear to make the X sound any where close to the old machines.
let MPC's stay MPC's and daw stay daw. i'm ok with innovation but dont slaughter the great and trusted workflow that the mighty Roger Linn invented and gave us. this 3.0 is not innovation, is homologation regarding the main structure. the new stuff like slice motion is great but i dont want to ditch my versatile workflow for just that and a few more bells and whistles , no way. peace.
Then you’ll just be left in the past, while the entire world passes you by

I feel the same. I'm staying with 2.15.1 forever. I don't need a new DAW.
My favorite DAW is Reason .
You are absolutely correct with this take
Great points.
Great video bro ❤
Thanks. For. Video. Beatz
lol 😂 Thats exactly what I did teo days after the ip-date beta….
Indeed they should just do that, MPC 2024 :•)
I had to downgrade too PREME…
The Akai Force has a better workflow than the 3.0 update

Malo does not make beats like that. He doesn’t have that many sequences and groups of sequences are different beats all in one project. He does several sequences to make a beat and puts it in song mode. Then he explodes his tracks and takes them to his DAW. Now with 3.0 he’s using the arranger with one sequence to make a whole beat in song format.
I Feel like they are trying to appease newbies bye breaking a legendary workflow even chopping loops and converting those into programs is janky
@@boutstaxx they should have just made an arranger add on that you can purchase like they did with stems.

Its crazy how yall complaining about an update that’s still in “BETA” which means that its not complete yet.
That's because that software would be better on a newer more powerful MPC or on a PC. I have the MPC X se and like it the way it is. I can readily admit that it's too SLOW to run MPC 3 software beta or finished.

New MPC will not solve the issue your having. They are committed to 3.0 now. Hopefully the they will have a solution for you because I dig that workflow as well….and a new MPC is coming just not sure in what form….flagship replacement maybe?
I’m having a hard time understanding what it is you have a problem with, the way things are categorized? I still can load up key groups, drum sets, plugins, I’m having a hard time understanding why you don’t like them changing the way it’s presented? Honestly it’s starting to sound like you should be using Renoise, it has what you’re looking for and in a better way, too. It seems like MPC 2 is still going to be compatible with the plugins and key groups and anything you would want it to be compatible with for a long time, so if you don’t like v3 there’s no reason for you to upgrade, keep it the way you like it homie🎉

@@digitaldiezel5870 make a video doing it.
But why is the arranger up front.
That's something I'm not going to use everyday.
