Already love this video and I haven't even watched it yet! I'm so happy that you took on this topic in this manner ⭐
5H was one of the most vocally underrated groups ever. I mean some of their songs don't fully show their range and ability as a group that's for sure, and we definitely got a showcase of Camila's voice more than anything, but their vocals were always something to behold. Like come on. Each of them could outsing soooo many mainstream artists these days.
They should’ve been a vocal group, they had so much potential with their voices and it notices when they covered songs with more vocal power. Anyway I love those girls
Despite all the drama, Fifth harmony really was an amazing ass girl group vocal-wise. All 5 of them brought something different and unique to the group and ppl loved to shit on them and constantly compare them to other groups.
@Michelle Appiah the only reason they kept getting dragged vocally was because their competition’s little mix 😭 let’s be honest, as a group LM is vocally better by miles, but individually, only Perrie and Jade have the skills to compete with 5H, who are stronger vocalists as individuals
@Michelle Appiah even Lauren despite being the weakest will put up a fight. Yes, Lauren, Camila and Normani are inconsistent but all 3 have the skills and stamina to vocally hold their own. Leigh Anne, Jesy and even Jade (sometimes, despite being the best technical vocalist) while in the group tend to dodge some of their parts, while we’ve already seen countless of times that the 5h girls can finish entire songs or even a whole set on their own. They weren’t the best put-together group, but individually they’re all monsters in their own rights
@@taeslilclown9801 I disagree. In terms of technique they aren’t seeing little mix. I might of agreed somewhat years ago but The little mix today are vocally at their peak right now. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but little Mix is more consistent across the board. Ally is a very nice belter with a good upper register but has a weak lower register and isn’t agile. Normani is agile with a good lower register but she’s a weak belter. Jesy although she doesn’t belt much, is a good belter with a decent lower register, she’s agile and has good upper register. Leigh Anne has a weak lower register but she is also very agile with a decent upper register and is a very great belter, although her belts lack intensity. In terms of jade she very consistent across the board tbh. Dinah could take Leigh and jesy but That’s it tbh. You should check out some of their new stuff like their falling cover and secret love song live at the search. They don’t dodge if anything they add more than what’s in the studio versions.
because most of the people only know fifth harmony from worth it and work from home thats why people thought they are not a good singer and they can harmonize tho their label is just sucks
I think if Dinah did R&b she would dominate, it’s sad that her label is kind of kickin her to the side ALSO that clip of Lauren singing at 6:35 jeez I didn’t know she had so much power
This video was very fair and really points out how all the girls have strengths and weaknesses but all talented and deserve respect vocally and i agree
I feel like Camila’s tone helps her a lot she always sounds consistent and confident in her runs and upper register and she really stays there when she experiments with her voice in live performances it’s always the runs and agility cuz she’s comfortable there , she never experiments with new stuff until she’s really comfortable ( like belting), I like that about her she knows her strengths and limits , that’s why she always puts on a consistent shows vocally , she’s also surprisingly versatile in terms of styles she can sing
She’s the least versatile voice in pop lol. She only has one style of singing and her shrill tone doesn’t allow her to work well in other genres outside of pop. The most versatile voices of the group are Dinah and Lauren
@@carpediemearth by versatile I mean yea she sings similarly but it fits to a lot of genres personally I listened to a lot of Camila’s leaked unreleased songs and she really tried a lot of genres and they all were good in my opinion, it looks like she has done , retro pop, latin, melodic ballad, regular pop, hip hop , slow soulful, and they all sounded solid

My favorites are Dinah and Camilla. I love Camilla's voice better in her solo stuff than in Fifth Harmony's songs. I love her upper range so much i songs such as "Living Proof" and "Bad Kind of Butterflies", it's gorgeous!
Lauren's tone is so perfect, she just lacks consistency in preparing her voice although she has recently improved her skills I feel like she can give more vocals in birds of prey and acoustic sessions are so good. I'm proud

Ally has so much versatility too. She is the best rapper and belter of the group and her studio runs stand out a lot. Ask yourself why she always had a solo in their songs even though she wasn't the label's favorite. My overall favorite is Lauren.
@@terrispencer4913 Eh, no. It would go in terms of rap to me: 1. Normani 2. Ally 3. Camila 4. Dinah 5. Lauren We've only heard the top 3 rap (Normani in BOSS and Top Down, Ally in Angel and Camila in Top Down along with a freestyle).
Normani if she really wanted to (with thr exception of Ally) she could vocally destroy everyone else in the group bcos she has the highest range... She just needs a lil boost of confidence/techniques that's all
@Michelle Appiah imo confidence is her worst enemy Yo I remember when the group went for a meet and greet or something Literally no fan went for Mani Just one lil girl waved AND. THAT. WAS. IT I swear I was hurt and mad for her... Then there's her close friend who literally called her the N word behind her back Camilla is a good artist but as a person I dunno... I really don't These r some of the many reasons why her confidence is really really down. People basically walk all over her and her talents. And she so nice and humble like she don't deserve that pain and stress. She really don't. Also why I was so happy when other mainstream artists started supporting her during Motivation. I was like maybe this could be a game changer in her mental and emotional headspace. Who knows it prolly did. Can't wait for her debut album for me to see...
Normani said she's being coached 3 times a week now and will show her range in her album. When she was in fifth harmony she lost herself and now shes finding herself again, her first album will be like therapy for her, I cant wait to see her shine
Range doesn't equal vocal talent. She can always improve (and she has in the past), but she's never going to "destroy" Dinah (the group's best vocalist) or Ally. I think one of the mistakes a lot of people make when assessing their vocals is assuming that Normani was the only one who was ever insecure. Dinah, Ally, and Lauren have all talked about having their own self-confidence shaken in both their vocals and in themselves, and I'm sure even Camila has too. They were teenage girls being thrust into an environment where their every move was critiqued. Dinah even revealed she was being told to hold back vocally or keep getting left off of songs. Yes confidence issues can affect your singing, but you have to start off at a certain baseline. We've heard Normani SANG and she's very good but she's not near the level Dinah, Ally or maybe even Lauren are.
@@iosashes2087 Normani is as good as them and was the only one of the group to face racism so don't compare their lack of confidence with hers because she faced the greatest level of hate and belittling
Do you guys notice how Camila is capable of doing her runs in different registers such as her lows, mid belts, and falsetto? Where as Dinah mostly does her runs in falsetto because she is most comfortable in falsetto.
In a post-5H interview, Dinah actually revealed that whenever she gives her best during studio recordings and rehearsals, the producers told her to "stop being too soulful", basically, they were telling her to hold back. The producers didn't want her to shine. Also, in their unreleased song Goodbye, Dinah shine like the frickin sun 😂 but the track ended up on the cutting floor because she outshone Camzi in that song. It wasn't Camzi's fault, it was the management. Camzi is just a victim just as the 4 girls. Damn. I hate music entertainment politics.
Dinah's tone is like Beyoncé's (not everytime tho). And wow I'm so surprised with her agility and it's even more beautiful because she has great musicality (agility+musicality should always coincide, IMO).
Lower: Lauren Upper: Camila Belts: Ally Runs: Dinah Stage presence: Normani They all have their strengths and they complimented each other’s weaknesses really well! Idk if their label utilized their strengths very well though... I still love all of them! ❤️
@@carpediemearth Camila without soul? Are you kidding, a lot of people love her live performance because she lives and conect with every song, even when it doesnt her own song.
Just a little bit of what I think about the video (great job btw) I agree with you on the low notes, I think If we were going to count only the 5h times, Dinah would probably be at last, since she had some problems with A3 (lol), but she improved so much, now she can hit audibles F#3's consistently (which is decent for a soprano) Belting: yeah for sure Normani is the last, I think that if she hadn’t had so many problems with confidence she would have been much better at it, THANK YOU for saying Lauren improved on her belts after 5h, I always say that and people don't believe me, I mean we just have to look at the fact that she does E5's consistently now, when some years ago she was having problems with some C#5's Agility: Well the fact that on the PSA Tour Ally dodged runs (that weren't that difficult) says a lot about her ability on that area My favorite is Lauren!
Dinah's not last on low notes. Her low note is a D3 in Make You Mad and she's never really struggled with that. She hits a C#3 in her Officially Missing You cover without much issue as well.
my favourite was always lauren cause of her tone, but i also loved dinah’s tone and overall voice. tbh i only liked 5h cause of them lol really wish you would have done a thorough analysis of all of their upper registers, that’s kinda the part i was really looking forward to 😭😭 i really wanted you to go over notmani and ally’s easy in their hv, falsetto, and whistle, as well as lauren’s loss of her falsetto, dinah’s agility in hers, and camila’s recent use of her hv. nevertheless, a fantastic video like always quing! keep up the good content :)
I think they all have fascinating voices that’s what makes the group so special. They also started out very young and they’ll grow and get better in their singing career.. I wish them success on their solo journeys.
Dinah’s agility/runs rlly are in a league of their own! I can definitely understand why people would have preference for the other girl’s voices but I just think Dinah is a crazy vocalist fr
@@xylypotatohead3947 probably longevity in the industry she was the babyface of 5H. I'm still gutted for the way they treared the other girls just as they were taking off. But proud of how each girl is in her own lane, at her own pace learning to stand on her own. They have all released great music, not many girl groups can say that after splitting up.
These are my thoughts: Lower register: Lauren > Normani = Camila > Dinah > Ally (Ally's lows are very, very weak compared to the rest of 5H... she literally dodges G#3s, a note which no one would dodge) Belts: Ally > Dinah > Lauren = Camila (both are consistent up to A4/Bb4... and here I was, thinking that Camila consistently supports C5s) > Normani (her upper belts are actually pretty good but her mid-belts... not so much) Vocal agilty: Dinah > Normani > Camila (she has the same problem as Demi Lovato... both move their jaws excessively when doing complex riffs) = Lauren > Ally Upper register: Dinah > Camila (her falsetto is arguably her best register, but that's just my opinion because technicality isn't involved when it comes to falsetto) = Ally (her head voice is technically one of the best in the industry right now, along with Perrie Edwards, Dove Cameron, Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle and SoHyang) > Normani (her falsetto isn't great but her amazing whistles compensate for it) > Lauren (Lauren's head voice is beautiful but she could develop that register a bit more) My favourite member's Lauren but Dinah's AMAZING and SO UNDERRATED 💙 But for different aspects, I have different favourites: Vocally: Dinah Tone: Lauren Emotion: Lauren Personality: Camila Ranking them as vocalists (overall), it would definitely go like this: 1. Ally 2. Dinah 3. Lauren 4. Camila 5. Normani
I agree with this. Dinah without a doubt is the best/most well rounded vocalist and member overall (since she's No.1 at singing and No.2 at dancing and stage presence). She's one of the most amazing singers of this new crop of young artists. It's really unfortunate she ended up with a label and team that won't do her talent justice. And if that's not bad enough she's somehow the punching bag of the 5H fandom. I gotta admit that putting Normani above Camila at rifts and runs surprised me but when you explained it, it made complete sense. I think the only thing I'd argue is that Normani is better at low notes than Camila. I'd recommend listening to Normani singing Happy Birthday (solo), her Drake cover, and Can You See at the Apollo theater. For everyone who says she can't support much, from what I've heard, it seems she supports down to an F3 which is the lowest in the group. Also Dinah is MUCH better at low notes than she was in the group (listen to her Officially Missing You cover) and I appreciate how you showed Lauren's improvement in her voice since the group broke up. Thanks for this!

I always felt it was. Dinah Ally Camila and Normani Lauren. In that order. I based it off what they can do as in low, high, mids, belts, falsettos, whistle. Then who sounded better in which area and proficiency. But Normani is my favorite.
Lauren has amazing voice.......her low notes and when she sings with her head voice ...... In 5h she wasn't given the chance to sing high notes well except for 1st album. Now she's practising and is really great. I'm proud
*The fact that Dinah was always given the shortest lines, and wasn’t featured in a few of their songs AT ALL, example write on me SMH! It’s like they didn’t want Fifth harmony to succeed?*😬
Fr, she mentioned it herself that she doesn't get any lines in Sledgehammer and Boss because no parts suited her like um what the producer thinking she literally doing a good job covering Camila parts after she leaving the group. I know preference of tone is subjective but gOsH, Lauren has such a beautiful natural sound 😍
*Fifth Harmony* really had the potential to be a major force to be reckoned with in the music industry (even now).
Already love this video and I haven't even watched it yet! I'm so happy that you took on this topic in this manner ⭐
I think Lauren and Normani are amazing. Lauren was very Underappreciated but yet still has one of the best voices
Anyway I love those girls
they were a vocal group but it's how they were managed that rlly messed them up.

What bout camila
@@christopheraguilar911 this is a video about fifth harmony 🤣 don’t insert her anywhere she’s no longer a part of
@@taeslilclown9801 they asked because this video talked about all members & the normani, Dinah, Lauren & ally are kinda not in the group no more 😂😂✌🏽
Despite all the drama, Fifth harmony really was an amazing ass girl group vocal-wise. All 5 of them brought something different and unique to the group and ppl loved to shit on them and constantly compare them to other groups.
Fifth Harmony gained so much hate and are quite underrated as vocalists, maybe not the best with harmonies, but all of them can sing pretty well.
ik, i kinda miss them despite not really being a fan when they were a group. They all had this unique sound and don't sound alike
Ally is so freaking amazing. They never took advantage of her versatility and powerful vocals in fifth harmony.
Lauren's voice is just ✊🥺😫
Lauren’s belts have improved soooo much in these past few years!! Especially hearing her sing “Expectations”
dinah and ally were so underrated in the group, which is very sad cause they have amazing and powerful vocals., especially dinah!
i agree! It makes me very sad as well. They deserve more love.
Wow. I really thought Ally would win. But I’m glad. I didn’t realise Dinah was THAT GOOD! Respect!
THAT RUN AT THE END, YOU BETTER WORK IT BABY!!!! 😍❤️
Haha, you watched till the end!😄
Well, technically ok.
It lacks support, not all the notes are executed..

Love ya 🙌🏻🧡✨
Ally's belt in their radio presentation of -I'm in love with a monster- is *chef kiss*
I'm in love with Dinah's voice she's the best can't believe she's underrated
Lauren has good support in her belts and lows, i don't mind her head voice, but it's floppy
Dinah's belts are close to Beyoncé's, but as you said, she pushes, if she had some of the clarity that ally has!!!!!
12:23 that much clearness in a breathy tone tho
@@cristi4n.anderson huh, dinah has good belts for sure but in no way close to beyonce
Whut
@@carpediemearth and ally bcs damn girl can sing so many genres
@@carpediemearth by versatile I mean yea she sings similarly but it fits to a lot of genres personally I listened to a lot of Camila’s leaked unreleased songs and she really tried a lot of genres and they all were good in my opinion, it looks like she has done , retro pop, latin, melodic ballad, regular pop, hip hop , slow soulful, and they all sounded solid
@@carpediemearth I can’t wait to hear Lauren’s solo work it feels like she’s waiting for her time cuz their 5H contracts are still effective, and I think it’ll be off early this year , and Dinah is so talented I hope she makes songs that showcase her vocals and range

Dinah has that potential to be a great performer, she can dance and if she trains more in dancing and keep having vocal coach and good team, she's gonna make it.
Lonely night is Dinah's song. She shines the most in that song. It's one of my favorite

Lauren’s tone is gorgeous!
It’s Rich
💯 love her tone.
Lauren is my fav. But I have to admit that I enjoy camilla's voice as well. Their tone and voice are so distinctive that you can immediately recognize them in the harmony
Dinah and Lauren have the best vocal skills. Normani has the best tone, her voice sounds like butter.
Yeah her tone is so silky
I like Lauren’s tone the most. It’s part of why she’s my fav. It’s edgy and allows her to sing songs like expectations with so much power bcuz she’s able to give the more soulful content

This is the only girl group with the most distinct voices on each members..
I find it very interesting that girls are so different from each other. voice, a little of the ancestry of each one (one tongan, the other cuban, mexican, african and so on), personality, etc.
I don't know if I wrote it completely right. translator sucks
@@cxh9219you have written this perfectly. Its interesting that you mentioned ancestry as that definitely influences a voice.
My favorites are Dinah and Camilla. I love Camilla's voice better in her solo stuff than in Fifth Harmony's songs. I love her upper range so much i songs such as "Living Proof" and "Bad Kind of Butterflies", it's gorgeous!
I NEVER noticed Ally is not used to do runs/riffs omg
she always did it but she kept it simple

Normani is a singer and a dancer and she is amazing
Exactly can't wait for her to drop the album to prove the people that said she couldn't sing wrong.

Lauren is my favorite too
That's true, but in an interview Ally said she had to fight to get solos. I don't think the producers would have done her justice if she hadn't.
@@jamieslauren literally in terms of rap, it goes Normani, Ally, Dinah Lauren, Camz. The last three are subjective
Camila hated on Ally
@@terrispencer4913 Eh, no. It would go in terms of rap to me:
1. Normani
2. Ally
3. Camila
4. Dinah
5. Lauren
We've only heard the top 3 rap (Normani in BOSS and Top Down, Ally in Angel and Camila in Top Down along with a freestyle).
Normani has the prettiest voice of the group in terms of tone. Her voice is so silky and smooth and that's crazy to me...love her
Normani if she really wanted to (with thr exception of Ally) she could vocally destroy everyone else in the group bcos she has the highest range...
She just needs a lil boost of confidence/techniques that's all
@Michelle Appiah imo confidence is her worst enemy
Yo I remember when the group went for a meet and greet or something
Literally no fan went for Mani
Just one lil girl waved AND. THAT. WAS. IT
I swear I was hurt and mad for her...
Then there's her close friend who literally called her the N word behind her back
Camilla is a good artist but as a person I dunno...
I really don't
These r some of the many reasons why her confidence is really really down.
@@opaquea2448 link to it please
She would be impressive if she was 13 not as a grown woman

In a post-5H interview, Dinah actually revealed that whenever she gives her best during studio recordings and rehearsals, the producers told her to "stop being too soulful", basically, they were telling her to hold back. The producers didn't want her to shine. Also, in their unreleased song Goodbye, Dinah shine like the frickin sun 😂 but the track ended up on the cutting floor because she outshone Camzi in that song. It wasn't Camzi's fault, it was the management. Camzi is just a victim just as the 4 girls. Damn. I hate music entertainment politics.
Well dinah has done very complex runs in her mix, lows, and upper register. Dinah is more controlled, precise
Dinah's tone is like Beyoncé's (not everytime tho). And wow I'm so surprised with her agility and it's even more beautiful because she has great musicality (agility+musicality should always coincide, IMO).
Dinah was definitely the best singer in the group but Normani’s voice/sound is my fav
Laurens lower register is so good, it was like natural for her I can’t tell if she’s a mezzo soprano or a contralto but either way she kills it

I agree with you on the low notes, I think If we were going to count only the 5h times, Dinah would probably be at last, since she had some problems with A3 (lol), but she improved so much, now she can hit audibles F#3's consistently (which is decent for a soprano)
Belting: yeah for sure Normani is the last, I think that if she hadn’t had so many problems with confidence she would have been much better at it, THANK YOU for saying Lauren improved on her belts after 5h, I always say that and people don't believe me, I mean we just have to look at the fact that she does E5's consistently now, when some years ago she was having problems with some C#5's
Agility: Well the fact that on the PSA Tour Ally dodged runs (that weren't that difficult) says a lot about her ability on that area
My favorite is Lauren!

These are my thoughts:
Lower register: Lauren > Normani = Camila > Dinah > Ally (Ally's lows are very, very weak compared to the rest of 5H... she literally dodges G#3s, a note which no one would dodge)
Belts: Ally > Dinah > Lauren = Camila (both are consistent up to A4/Bb4... and here I was, thinking that Camila consistently supports C5s) > Normani (her upper belts are actually pretty good but her mid-belts... not so much)
Vocal agilty: Dinah > Normani > Camila (she has the same problem as Demi Lovato... both move their jaws excessively when doing complex riffs) = Lauren > Ally
Upper register: Dinah > Camila (her falsetto is arguably her best register, but that's just my opinion because technicality isn't involved when it comes to falsetto) = Ally (her head voice is technically one of the best in the industry right now, along with Perrie Edwards, Dove Cameron, Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle and SoHyang) > Normani (her falsetto isn't great but her amazing whistles compensate for it) > Lauren (Lauren's head voice is beautiful but she could develop that register a bit more)
My favourite member's Lauren but Dinah's AMAZING and SO UNDERRATED 💙
But for different aspects, I have different favourites:
Vocally: Dinah
Tone: Lauren
Emotion: Lauren
Personality: Camila
Ranking them as vocalists (overall), it would definitely go like this:
1. Ally
2. Dinah
3. Lauren
4. Camila
Imo if I could have any of these girls voices, I'd choose Dinah or Ally for sure. In all honesty all the girls can sing. I miss 5H sooo much 😕
