I experimented with a sling shot for about a month, but was unhappy with it. I may experiment again in the future. The first problem I had is that the size runs small, meaning that -- although I don't have huge arms -- I ordered and XL size and it was really tight. Cutting off blood, was that a good idea, I wondered? This size problem is common if you read the online evaluations of the sling shot elsewhere.
Another thing is that there are different strength sizes and the place where I'm at -- 300-312 lbs on a good day -- is the range where the manufacturer recommends a step up in strength size, meaning: there are different recommended sizes (per the elasticity in the sling shot band), depending on your bench press strength level.
I tried Mark Bell's 4-week (or is it 5-week?) bench press program with the sling shot for about a month and tried to do a max, as recommended, at the end of it. I actually LOST about 20 pounds, per my max in recent history, and it has taken me some time too build back up (and a little beyond) where I was.
The sling shot's unchallenged value, I'd imagine, is that for guys with bad shoulders it can help alleviate the pain/discomfort.

I appreciate your feed back sir. I have never looked at Mark Bell's program and that program may work for him, but maybe not for us. I bench twice per week but only use the slingshot on my second bench day. I never use it until I get to overloading heavier sets. Last week I only put it on when I got to 315. For me I think using it minimally has helped me get used to the feel of the heavier. overloads. Best wishes with your training.
