If anyone is confused I think I know the answeres: They started as a happy family. Every time Maya opens the door, the crow helps her escape to her imagination. The mother dies of a car crash leaving the father depressed and the kids didn't know till later which lead to Aaron pushing his anger on his sister because she looks like his mom. Green eyes and orange hair, and everytime he sees her, it reminds him that his mom his dead, forever. Aaron doesn't want to talk about his feeling since he didn't want to appear weak to his sister and because he thinks she wouldn't understand. The more the hate from her brother, the more she dislikes going into her imagination. The crow brings her to it as she feels like she must do this even though she doesn't want to. He brings her doll to the roof and she follows in order to get it back. He slaps it and is in anger because he wants to hurt her more but he also wants to share his feelings. She tries to comfort him but he slaps her away. He accidently pushed her since he didn't realize she was standing on the edge. The father becomes more depressed and uses the shovel to bury the girl then he locks up the son because hes not just angry, it's because thats all he has left. When the player (the child from across the street) discoveries Aaron who is locked up, the father or the neighbor gets mad because he thinks the player was about to call the police, to take away his son. The player grows up and the shadow represents the son since he was stuck in that basement for who knows how long. Possibly died from starvation and dehydration since the father must've died or probably killed himself. After waking up, the player feels peace knowing the house with the neighbor is dead, meaning he is safe. Edit: There is another end to the neighbor. The neighbor lives after being saved by the player. I do not have any theories that can be right or absolutely wrong because I have not seen that end. But my theory above is for only this playthrough.
But he did send the boy back to his room after witnessing him bullying his sister which I would’ve never expected the neighbor to do. At least he still had authority over the kids 🙃
But you can see, after he pushes his sister off the roof on accident, he freezes to watch her slowly fall to her doom. You can see the regret in his eyes. Right then and there, the neighbor decided he's too dangerous to be out in the world, especially with that anger from his mother's death. I feel bad for HIM. He didn't mean to push his sister off, yet he got blamed and locked up for his actions. He was angry. First, the doll, then her. So furious, he didn't realize she was at the end of the plank, and so he pushed her, causing her death.
The writers did a awesome job in the story line. I wasn't (and I'm sure other weren't) expecting this dude to turn basically into a lunatic after his loses. It does something to you after watching this - seriously.
It isn't like that it's basically when the son pushed the daughter of the building the neighbour did not want his son to go to jail so he hid him and buried his daughter and the shadow thing just is his depression

This is the full Hello Neighbor story: Once upon a time, there lived this young, happy family who had nothing to lose. A dad, a mom, and 2 kids. The mom was very nice and loving to her family, and did the cooking and cleaning, and the dad worked a respectable job and made good money. The 2 kids, brother and sister, got along very well. They played together all the time. One day, the Dad and the mom had to leave the house by themselves for a normal reason, like to go to the bank, or something like that. A few minutes after they left, the Dad got them into a terrible car accident, killing the mom. At dusk, the Dad finally returns to his house to see the kids in shock that he left them for that long. He told them about the accident, and that their mother is dead. They tried to carry on with their lives, but it was difficult. Especially for the boy, who became insane, and started treating his father and his sister poorly. One day, he was so angry, that he told the sister to come onto the roof with him, and then he pushes her off the roof, killing her too. The father, devistated, decided to lock the boy in his basement for life so he wouldn't have to go to prison, and puts up signs that say "Simming" kind of like "Missing" to make people think his kids are missing, instead of "dead" or "locked away." The little boy was very clever, and escapes from the basement through the hatch on the other side of the house, and runs away from home forever. All in this same day, The father's neighbor's child playing in the street happens to come across the house as the father locks the little boy in the basement. The father captures him, because he does not want him telling the police about what happened. The child escapes, and the next time we see him in the game, he is all grown up. He gets a letter in the mail at his apartment in the city saying his parents passed away, and he inherents the house he used to live in. But he does not want to live next to someone who captured him years earlier, so he decides to resolve this conflict once and for all. He infiltrates the neighbor's house, which appears to have "some" add-ons done to it. He conquers his fears about everything that has happened in his life up to now. He faces off against the neighbor, and finally succeeds. He wakes up from a dream to find out that there were no add-ons done to the house, and gets information from his other neighbors that the neighbor disappeared out of nowhere years earlier. So we don't know what happened to the little boy, or the neighbor, but we do know that the player lives happily ever after, and doesn't dwell in the past ever again. The end.

To me, the Shadow Man represents fear, resentment, darkness -- everything we see as a dark "shadow." At the beginning of the Final Act, the player still has a "shadow" in his heart from the trauma he experienced with the neighbour as a kid (represented by the Shadow Man haunting him). In the end, he was able to face the Shadow Man and overcome it, leading to the "EXIT" (i.e. moving onwards in life). While we see the neighbour at the end, barricading himself from the Shadow Man but trapped in the house. His only way to the "EXIT" (i.e. moving on) is by facing the Shadow Man (the darkness and shadow in his life), and overcoming it. It seems like, in the end, he was never able to. The scene where the neighbour trapped in that house with the Shadow Man was really quite sad.
actually where you see when he was kid him and his older brother were in a tunnel under their school, they were exploring it, until a squad wearing costumes came and tried fighting them, his older brother beat a lot of them and even the neighbor then suddenly one of them pushed his brother into a deep hole then someone says "no witnesses" and try's to push the neighbor too but then there's like an electrical explosion that's when everyone except the neighbor runs away and ofc the neighbor is flabbergasted he lost his brother in seconds, then he sees the shadow figure which is his brother hope this helps I got it from hello neighbor cartoon season 2 episode 1
So... The neighbor was a good guy? EDIT: I already understood that he was a nice person and got bad. Stop commenting for getting likes please, because I ALREADY GOT IT, DAMN IT
I feel like crying when I Remember the times of the first alphas and betas, when everything was just a sussy neighbour hiding something under his stairs, all the theory video's, where people would uncover secrets behind the scenes of the game, or would glitch it out completely to see everything hidden from the player
At first I always thought that the neighbor was just a creepy evil guy, but now I will look at him and the game differently. This made a tear go down my face 😭
Idk why the sister should die too!😭 why! Why! Couldn't the father just become bad and ban the kids! Better than the family to die and the father will stay with his family in the same neighbor hood
I really love Hello Neighbor, and the story of it is just so sad. Honestly, it reminds me of how I coped with loss and makes me never want to get angry with my siblings again. The behavior of the children is pretty realistic, how Mya is sorta too young to recognize the loss of her mother, and Aaron doesn't understand how she isn't effected as much. He's depressed, angry, going through loss. Mya tries to relive old times before their mother died, and Aaron agrees, but in a twisted sort of way that makes things not as fun. He starts hurting Mya, taking out his suffering and pain on her. By the end, when they were playing on the roof, he's so frustrated with how she seems fine with the loss that he shoves her. He doesn't realize that he pushed her hard enough to knock her down. His face is just pure shock and I doubt he realizes what he's really done until much much later. Also, I used some sound effects from this to make a lo-fi beat. If you're feeling sad about this and want a song to put your feelings into music, maybe check it out? Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/ZOyXTgVIjm4/v-deo.html I used some bass in there that Hello Neighbor is so known for. This isn't meant to be a promotional comment, I just kinda want you guys to enjoy my music. You don't have to subscribe or like, please just enjoy. Thanks :)
True. Mr. Peterson- it’s his official name according to the chapter books and the two comic books, was nice but then he became more unhinged. He can build rides for amusement parks btw. There’s more background story to him and the other characters in the chapter books.
I feel bad the neighbor. He just wanted a happy family. He went on a drive with his beautiful wife, crashed, and as you saw in the movie. He tried to save her, but it was too late…. His son went mad and it was because of the car accident. He hated his sister because she looked just like his mom. He was filled with anger that he threw his sister’s doll out of her hands into the abyss. He didn’t realize his sister was on the edge, and with anger pushed her. In the movie she slowly falls to her death, and you can tell on the boy’s face, that he messed up. In Act 1, you can see the neighbor is hiding something… his son. He’s the only family member he has left….. his son probably died of something. It could’ve been anything. But the worst part, is that you can go from such a happy life, to something you never want to be part of. This movie really made me break a tear. All neighbor wanted was just a happy family….
@HotspotPancakes Yep,It actually makes sense,or he can't let it be free because he thinks it can be dangerous to other peoples, that's why he locks it there.
I didn’t cry, but she was my favorite character, because I relate. I just want my family to love me, so I’d do anything they said. I feel so bad for her, she didn’t deserve to be bullied by her brother.
Wait, question... What was with the brother? Did he kill the sister on purpose? And why did he suddenly hate her? I'm so confused. Edit: so what you guys are saying is... He got *mad* about his mom dying so he starting hating her sister? Oh yeah that *totally* makes sense...
when all of the games came out everyone thought before that it was super complicated and he was stealing children and he was a murderer but its so much more simple. And its crazy how even in alpha 1 the whole story makes sense. the car crash behind the door cutsene, the screaming of the children, the grave, and the mannequins. all of them represent the story. the grave for the daughter, the screaming for the son, the car crash is the mom, and the mannequins are the representation of them and other people in their lives. and there was everyone talking about a golden apple and thinking that the trolley in the house was the key to everything. people thought the third floor held all of the secrets lmao. 👏👏👏good job tiny build.👏👏👏
I feel bad for Hello Neighbor now. All these years i thought he was a kidnapper. Now i understand why he always acted so strange.... R.I.P to his daughter and wife😢
HELLO Gamers! We have some HUGE NEWS for you all! Hello Neighbor 2 was recently revealed for PC & Xbox Series X! And guess what? You can play the alpha version right now! 😜✌️ Check out the reveal trailer & our gameplay overview: ua-cam.com/video/myAVYhQ3TQw/v-deo.html
Fun fact: you can actually free the neighbor at the end by opening the door then not walking through it, then you should find a box somewhere (either under the house or behind the door) and you through it at the neighbors window. After that you have this whole new mission trying to free the neighbor and it ends with a more satisfying ending 😊
Do you guys remember when Jacksepticeye said in his full release series that "If this ends with 'it was all a dream' i'm gonna throw a child out a window" and it did that is really weird!
From what i gathered Yes the little girl died. And thats who he burried in the backyard. He then locked the sun up in the basement for 1 of 2 reasons. 1 he was so angry with him an locked him down there to punish him. 2 it was punishment but more so to keep him out of trouble with police or whatever, didnt want his son to be put in juvi or some maybe. Then he posted missing signs so ppl wouldn't ask questions about what happened to the daughter and son. Us as a character caught him in the act thats why he wants to catch you so bad so you wont tell authorities. This would make a great movie adaptation.
I never knew that the neighbor wasn’t always mean and angry, now I know why he is angry, it’s because his family got torn apart and everyone died and he locked up his son because he killed his daughter, so he locked up his son because he was all he had left of his family. One like is for the neighbor.

It’s look like Aaron I swear
actually where you see when he was kid him and his older brother were in a tunnel under their school, they were exploring it, until a squad wearing costumes came and tried fighting them, his older brother beat a lot of them and even the neighbor then suddenly one of them pushed his brother into a deep hole then someone says "no witnesses" and try's to push the neighbor too but then there's like an electrical explosion that's when everyone except the neighbor runs away and ofc the neighbor is flabbergasted he lost his brother in seconds, then he sees the shadow figure which is his brother hope this helps I got it from hello neighbor cartoon season 2 episode 1

Thanks :)

The Neighbor was such a sweet guy but he just got insane bc of his familly deaths.....
True. Mr. Peterson- it’s his official name according to the chapter books and the two comic books, was nice but then he became more unhinged. He can build rides for amusement parks btw.
There’s more background story to him and the other characters in the chapter books.
Oh thats why he keeps Chasing us when we come to his house in act 1
In hello neighbour 2 his son was still alive
I get it the neighbor is helping you
He doesn’t want you in the basement because
He’s afraid he will hurt you
@HotspotPancakes Yep,It actually makes sense,or he can't let it be free because he thinks it can be dangerous to other peoples, that's why he locks it there.

You mean this 8:03
This is so sad I didn’t realize that this is why he’s so mean☹️
Bro, he have a sad story but don't means he can be a killer
Wait, question... What was with the brother? Did he kill the sister on purpose? And why did he suddenly hate her? I'm so confused.
Edit: so what you guys are saying is... He got *mad* about his mom dying so he starting hating her sister? Oh yeah that *totally* makes sense...
He did that by accident because he accidentally pushed her doll
He started getting angry because his mom died he was so angry he wants to take his anger on her
So there don’t be confused
He slaps her doll away from her he was so angry that he kind of push her not knowing that she was on the edge what’s the code
I meant to say the kids did not know that he was on the edge
when all of the games came out everyone thought before that it was super complicated and he was stealing children and he was a murderer but its so much more simple.

Fun fact: you can actually free the neighbor at the end by opening the door then not walking through it, then you should find a box somewhere (either under the house or behind the door) and you through it at the neighbors window. After that you have this whole new mission trying to free the neighbor and it ends with a more satisfying ending 😊
