I'm indigenous (native american) and the guy from the first story had been given clear warnings to not go but he felt his religious views took precedent over the privacy, health, and safety of the tribe. He shouldn't have gone period and what happened was not a surprise at all. Just let indigenous people exist without trying to force religion or other ideals on them.

Yeah…it was a terrible idea (for many reasons) …but imagine if you were raised since childhood to believe that a group of people will burn in hell forever, or at least never reach Heaven/peace,…..UNLESS you go save them.
Some TRULY believe that. Or they absolutely believe an infinitely powerful being just told them to do something.
And some forms of epilepsy/temporal lobe defects can predispose to, or manifest as religiosity….and this guy was having religious visions.
So…it was dead wrong, but I think he did it mainly out of misguided belief that this was “helping,” not mainly out of ego or wanting to force “his way” on others.

His father has a lot of nerve blaming everybody else for his son's actions. His parents brought up the boy up, and raised him to believe he had the right to impose his beliefs on others. All this without the consent of the people who didn't want him, or the local government who protects this tribe from intervention. The son was an adult who made his own decisions that had fatal consequences. Blame nobody but your son. He proceeded, knowing what he was doing was illegal and unwanted.

If that were the case he wouldn't have been prepared to die. He knew that was a big possibility regardless of anything he did or said to try and convince those islanders that he meant no harm. And he wouldn't have told his family to forgive his killers either. It wasn't ego. It was his love for God and his children that he died for which for a Christian, it is a win actually. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. - Philippians 1:21. It wasn't a loss as long as he was truly following God's commands and doing his work which I believe is a big possibility. The laws are in place to protect the sentinelese people from diseases which we have immunity to but they do not. He could have wiped out the entire island with an illness that they had no immunity to. The laws are also in place to protect people from being killed by the sentinelese because they are notoriously aggressive when it comes to outsiders trying to infiltrate their island. They fired warning shots (arrows) towards him when they first saw him. How much more obvious could it be that he wasn't welcome on their island? Also, he didn't speak their language. How was he going to communicate with them? He showed up uninvited with the intentions of shoving his religion down their throats for his own prideful purposes. He had no respect for the people of that island. If he did he would have left as soon as they fired off the first few arrows at him and taken the hint that he was not wanted there. Instead he allowed his arrogance, his pride, his belief that HIS god was better than THEIR god, get him killed. It's hard to have sympathy for him or anyone like him.

That's what Christianity historically has done. It has gone into various areas of the world, extinguished the local expressions of spirituality and replaced it with Christianity. I live in England and exactly the same thing happened here. It just happened in an early period of history. There was the indigenous Druidism of the Celtic tribes and the Woden worshipping Anglo-Saxon variant of Germanic/Norse Paganism. These Christian expansionists vandalised my ancestors' beliefs too.

I'm diggin this channel too :) Thank you. After reading your post , I thought, damn, I feel that way sometimes too. Well I used to. I've come to realize that life is all about perception. How we view an experience largely shapes the outcome. Nothing stays great forever and nothing stays horrible forever. It feels like it when we're going through it! I think we are supposed to help others with our experiences and come to accept things the way they are. Including ourselves. Striving for true humility and being ok with what we have. Only took me 45 years to understand!

I agree. Who the heck is anyone to decide that another culture "needs" to learn about God? That's the height of egoism. Every culture has their own concept of God and should be left alone. It's wrong to force more "conventional" ways of worship on to anyone. So important in this case, is the risk of bringing germs to which these people have never been exposed, that could be fatal. Have you seen Medicine Man with Sean Connery? I know it's only a movie, but I believe its message is based in reality. I'm new to this channel and am very impressed.

One of my beloved dogs, Hana who was probably 9 at the time, was bitten by a Copperhead. We were on a hike by a stream. We stopped and she put her nose into some bushes and all of a sudden bucked back viciously, shaking her head. I was like wtf just happened?! I peered into the bushes only to see that devil staring back at me. She has the perfect 2 little fang marks right on the tip of her nose and that venom worked quick! Her nose puffed up, she was so swollen and becoming lethargic. I had to get her out of the woods, more than a mile, and carried her for the last several yards. She was a Rhodesian Ridgeback so definitely not a small dog! My adrenaline was pumping! It happened to be Memorial Day or some other holiday so she had to go to the Emergency Vet. She stayed overnight, they were worried due to her age, but thankfully she made a full recovery. The Vet told me it was better that she got bit than me because he said I would never have made it out of the woods.
      I’ve hated snakes ever since!

This is just a problem with all religions, to be fair (outside of religions with the “you have to be born into this” type of thing and aren’t too receptive of converts compared to those born into it).
It’s the “white savior” complex, but in religious form - whites that think they need to be the voice for minorities as they can’t possibly speak for themselves without a more “educated” and “progressive” white person to _save_ them and lead the way (people that convince themselves they’re doing “good” but ultimately do way more harm than ever). Doubly so when it’s a white person deeply embedded in religion and tries to help those “brown people find god” - so many instances of religious groups going to tribes and pushing their nonsense under the disguise of helping. It’s all bullshite all around.
People really need to just stay in their own lanes.

The sooner organized religion goes by the way of the dinosaurs, the better off the world will be.

Hello Dark Case! I just found your video in my feed today. I listened to your intro and thought you were a kindred soul. So I am now subbed. The stories were just different enough from each other that it was like picking up a new book. It was difficult to watch the final story because of a drowning incident in my childhood, but I am so glad that I finished it. The man had nerves of steel. The surprise at finding him alive was priceless. I’m thankful that he survived and is living a good life.
Since I haven’t seen your previous channels, I can say that you have done a fine job of presentation, background information, and staying unbiased. So, here we go. I will walk in the darkness with you for a time. Not everything in the dark is terrible and it’s nice to have a proverbial hand to hold. Thanks for sharing this with me. ❤ Brenda

When I started to play your video I realised I'd heard all the stories before (as happens so often on YT) so I considered skipping this one. However, for some strange reason I decided to give the vid a chance and am soooo glad I did. Your research, narration and delivery took these harrowing and horrific true life stories to a complete new level. I was engrossed, even tho I already knew the outcome of each character's ordeal! With so many different takes on the same 'repeat' stories, you did it your way which was surprisingly different and it works. That takes some doing. Well done!

A bit of change is a good thing! I love your channel and I click the notification bell for every video and am there as soon as it pops up! I think you do such a great job. You tell the story well and bring honor to the victims always. I think that many of us are crime junkies obviously but many times I find in these communities it is because we or someone we know was a victim of a violent crime and for myself it is both. I have been a victim of violent crime as well as my niece was raped and murdered by bludgeoning and I feel that maybe through all of these other stories being so appropriately shared we are able to try and understand the why's and how's in these terrible situations. Even if we don't find that understanding we are looking for it is still nice to know that we are not alone-although I wish these horrific crimes would cease completely, I know that is just not possible because some humans are just rotten to the core. The psychology of it all fascinates me as well. Congratulations on your success with this channel. I pray that it continues to grow and that you have tons of future success. I will always be clicking that like button and tuning in. Thank you for your time and effort put into this channel.
