Yep, this is a banger. Took me a LOT of listens before I could watch it without wailing tears. Another one of his songs that touches me is "Carry You Home".
Blunt wrote this song for his father, who was dying of an organ failure at the time. He needed a transplant. Originally, this video had a link at the end for cross typing and organ donation. This video actually led to a donor match to his father, saving his life.
His father, who himself donated one of his kidneys when he was a younger man, was diagnosed with stage four kidney failure for his one remaining kidney, and was not expected to survive. James wrote this song as a living Eulogy to his dad. (Both he and his Dad served in the Royal British Army. When James was being deployed to Kosovo his Dad's goodbye to him was, "I'm not your father. You're not my son. We're just two grown men saying goodbye!" James flipped that in his song. ) Once the song got released, it spread across the world and it reached a distant cousin of James Blunt, who ended up being a match for his father... As a result of this song, his father got that kidney transplant and is still alive as of 09/14/2024... So, in a way, James did indeed chase the monsters away, for his dad, with this song...
There is something to be said about an Artist who can do that 💞💞💞 *Luv your reaction* 💞💞💞
James is 50 now. I saw him in concert this week, here in England. He was superb.

"He is older"...🤣That happens to all humans and animals on a daily basis! I worry if someone was getting younger as time went by!
This is a great song. Very gripping and tearful. Man I miss my Father. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍🤘🤘💯
Next James Blunt song to check:"The girl that never was".
Yeah, that one hit me even harder than this one.

I have heard this song many times, crying everytime, if you don't cry you don't have a heart ♥
Well done..❤😂
The man in the video is his father.
That's amazing!!, you still look the same as you did when you were in your teens? I guess ❤
Can’t see him with your raindrops!
