When I was a kid there was an old man who lived a few miles down the road from us. He still farmed with horses. I would ride my horse out to watch. One of his horses was injured so we used my old mare to plow with It was quite a shock for both her and me. She was just an old gentle mare and took to pulling a plow easily. I on the other hand plowed rows, according to the old man, like a snake crawled.
So unusual that an Amish man would be willing to be photographed, and especially to do a video with you. Which makes this all the more special. The Amish I have met over the years have been lovely people.
I believe this is Andy Weaver who is actually now a SDA Christian and runs an SDA church in the heart of Amish country to reach their fellow friends. West Salem Mission. It's a great story. They still choose to dress and live the Amish way, though they aren't "Amish" anymore.
@@GardenJensJourney or that is the dress code for God people to and we move from it, and country living is the always God wish for His people ... so at the end, the believe change, but the living they have it right think about it that way
@@gilmarricardo4694 I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but I will try to answer to what I'm thinking you said. God's people are called to dress modestly, yes. I also believe women shouldn't dress like men, and should wear skirts, not slacks. I used to wear a head covering for awhile, but after studying the Bible, I have moved away from that, for now. We are also called to live in the country and get back to tending gardens and learning about God through that vital connection. I get all that. What I was staying in my other comment, is I know this individual, and the story of the church they started in their area to reach their Amish friends. 😊
I am dumb as a rock when it comes to pre-tiller plowing. My property came with rusty bits of old plows that I could never make heads nor tails of. So I set out this evening to educate myself. First came the plow. In my case a single horse walking plow. Then the hookup to the horse. And now the plowing itself including what comes next as in dragging down the hills. Thank you 50 times!! My best to your Amish friend and family as well.May come a time when the most popular guy on the whole block is the one with a horse plow. Norm way down in Alabama
Very interesting video, thanks. How bout one that deals with the horses.....how they're trained, how you drive them, voice commands, harness input, etc.?
Sorry, but I thought it was taboo to record videos on the Amish? They seem like nice people and he seems cool with it, but is he currently Amish or raised Amish? What’s considered polite today?
Thanks for the video I am from Dallas Texas and now living in Rwanda Africa. I wanted to buy this pioneer plow Can anyone give me the contact number of this Amish farmer. Thanks 🙏
Lord God, please bless our family with attributes of economic security for a country living in sustainable preparedness. Lord, together or apart, and hopefully together and not apart, please prepare our family to leave the cities for country living, to raise our own food, and make our own previsions, before the passing of the Sunday Law which is the mark of the best, before we are not able as Adventist Christians to buy or sell. God like the Christian prepares and the Amish bless our family to find an affordable place out of the city to be on our own land without having to rent, in an all brick, two-family home with a two-door garage, if at all possible with a healthy and dependable water source, lumber, with good soil, and the houses are not close together, the green hills valleys where we can be witness for Jesus Christ while waiting Jesus Christ return, productively.

They are becoming more modern than you realize, with hydro, cell phones, and vehicles etc

I loved this one! We can learn so much from the Amish. Be sure to show us more of what you learn from them.
We hope to do more in the future.
This is like an interview with someone from the 1840s... what a fascinating way of life being preserved! Greetings from the UK🇬🇧
Visiting Andy and his family in their house is one of my favorite places to be in the world.
I hope teaching is in Andy Weaver's past, present or future because he would make an excellent one. Really nice video!
I love to hear him speak.
So amazing and beautiful to see
Awesome! Thank you! May God bless you and your family
I’ve plowed with a sulky plow before. We have rocks, always a thrill when you hit good sized rock
It is so neat to see this up-close!
I know. It really is. We had such a good time with them.
Thanks for sharing. I'm really interested
@9:20 the young man is holding a Seventh day Adventist Hymnal? Nice collection of hymns.
I wish they have vlogs, like during their family worship. I love to hear their children singing.
All there kids look happy and healthy
Some of the happiest kids I have met.
What a beautiful way of life. Thank you for sharing!
I great grandfather ploughed this way.
very Nice terra
One man plowed quarter acre in under an hour? Then a day's work would be about 2 acres, that's an impressive pace for animal drawn machines
Many blessings to this family ! We’ll keep them in our prayers for their ministry! Maranatha!
For sure.
Very good 😁👍
Thank you for posting .....a blessing
We had fun making this video.

Great idea. I will think of doing a video on that sometime.
Our farm is in Ashland, an amish country. It's just amazing what they do with agriculture.
It sure is.
Ashland isn't considered part of Amish country
Amish typically won’t be in videos…. Still fascinating though.
Sorry, but I thought it was taboo to record videos on the Amish?

This was so awesome!
for sure.
Small farms are best.
Nice I just hope these horses don't have to live in tie stalls!
Notice Andy’s children are not indoors glued to a screen? When I drive through most neighborhoods nowadays it’s more often than not so deathly quiet.
They are some of the most wonderful people on earth to spend time with. We love them.
Nice
I
What a happy life
They are a super happy family.
@@HealthAndHomestead amazing, I grow up in a farm too now all want to do is go back to farm life
Is anybody help me to devolope this kind of plow please
What do you do next to get the land ready for planting? Are there other implements that are needed to get the soil ready for planting?
he said he uses other plow type tools to break up the soil and level it and of course to make rows to plant
😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍😉😘

Close to the earth,
Close to God.
Very true.
Thanks for the video

All the things we “English” need to relearn!
So true.
Goes to show you don’t need a tractor if you’re a hardworking man but I guess people like big toys and spend money 🤷🏻♂️
You mean hard working horses.
