A good intro to Rangefinder cameras Keith and some good examples of images you can capture with them. The only one I've ever used was an old Olympus trip that belonged to my Mam. A few years ago, she gave it to my nephew who used it whilst studying Graphic Design in Manchester, so that one escaped my clutches. I might have to add a rangefinder to the collection at some point.

Thanks Andrew. For years I totally ignored rangefinders and then I got the Balda. I really liked the results with it. The ones from the mid 50s to the mid 60s are my favourites - all metal and a brown leather carry case. A lot of people use them for street photography because focusing is easy and they are quite unobtrusive, but I just think they can be a good every day carry. Cheers! Keith

Looking forward to my first Rangefinder showing up tomorrow. A Konica Auto S2.

I haven't used one of those but I have heard good things about them Terry. Hexanon lenses are quite super, even the one on my Konica zoom compact. If you don't have a lens cap make sure you take the battery out when it's not in use. Cheers, Keith

The only working fixed lens rangefinder I own is my Olympus 35RC. I never bothered replacing the battery when the last one died as it's a fully mechanical camera. Lack of auto exposure doesn't worry me as I can usually sunny 16 it all day long, but in challenging conditions I have my Gossen Trisix selenium meter that still works great.

I think they are great at doing what they were designed for and the ones of this era exude quality. Cheers Jim. Keith
