I went to uni in Portland, 2200 miles from where I grew up in extreme NW Indiana, and heard about REI all the time but have never even stepped inside one- now as naturalised Canadian I say "zed" and shop proudly at MEC :) Further to your superb vid, I can't get over the positive spirit of these guys.
I'm so glad you covered my other old town, Bassano. Reminds me of my Nirvana Fan Girl Days amidst all the cowboys...

Hhha, my dad put me onto that store when we visited Seattle a few years back, pretty good stuff. Yea, the conditions are pretty harsh in Gleichen.
