Those lighting displays, This is my Dad causing a ruckus up there. It was too soon for him to leave this Earth and he was fighting it. Only Tangerine Dream could have inspired this.... There are just no more words.... only tears.
My Mom, too. She's with her Dad now, they were best friends. After he died, My Mom and I were sitting on his porch, which overlooks a lake. The weatherman on the radio said to take shelter from this bad storm and My Mom just sat there surrounded by all of this torrential weather and she just stared at the sky. I was in the basement with my Aunt. I guess Mom was working through her pain. I kept calling to her at the top of the stairs to please come down with us. She said "I'm talking to my Dad, it's ok." She was totally numb from the pain of missing her best friend. I never saw that side of her she was a very smart practical woman. I'll never forget it. This song and video reminds me of her with the rain, wind, and lightening shining on her face as I thought for sure she would get blown away.
The original has been one of my favourites for 30 years. This, both music and visuals, both captures and enhances all that I loved in that original. Great video.

I saw TD on this tour, August of 1988 before hearing the album. They used Atari ST, Commodore programming with Steinberg Jones software on the original recording. Nice visuals as we live in the upper Midwest and see this weather quite frequently. This is a gem and will be long remembered as a homage to E. Froese.
During this time period, Tangerine Dream composed a number of albums using Atari computers and Cubase. These were for the purpose of recording keyboard performances via MIDI which could be multi-tracked and arranged before recording to tape or digital audio in the studio. They also used the computers on tour to provide backing tracks, sequencing, or other automation. If you have a look at the cover of the Livemiles live album cover, I think you can see an Atari monitor on stage above an ST keyboard and track balls. Another photo of the band with stage equipment shows five or so Mega STs. I saw them during the 1988 Optical Race tour, co-sponsored by Atari, complete with Atari banners adjacent to the stage. The tour shirts included the Atari logo with the subtitle "Building Computers for Talented People". I used to have the white shirt, stolen by a woman, but still have the black one. I would think that at least the Livemiles, Optical race, Lily on the Beach, Melrose, Miracle Mile, Destination Berlin albums were composed with Atari computers, if not a few more. Eventually I think they switched to Apple computers with Cubase, after Atari stopped making computers, but who knows whether they were still in the studio. Depeche Mode lists Atari STs among the gear list as of the 1997 Ultra album. It's not like these cease to be useful for MIDI recording, and while I use Emagic Logic on a Mac in the studio for digital audio purposes, I also have a TT, Falcon, Mega ST, and Mega STE for other software such as Notator, Logic 2.5, Sound Diver, and a ton of programs for specific synthesizers. I never was partial to Cubase hence Cubase Audio Falcon, and Logic Audio seemed to have beta stability. In any case I run 48 digital audio tracks from 24 synthesizers, which is unfortunately beyond the capabilities of the Falcon.

Fabulous videos - I wish you hadn't modified the music though - this version feels "diluted" to me. Undoubtedly done to stretch out to over 6 minutes for the video, but they original had more drive, and I love that.

Not the best version but definitely the best clouds. Hey....double the pleasure, try listening to the original right after this one, they work well together, similar but different enough to be parts 1 & 2.
