a small source of fresh air is needed for the ozone machine to produce O3 , closing all windows wont work and it is counterproductive, a window or a sun roof need to be slightly open.
Before I start I want to say he’s done his research. His info seems to jive with what I’ve learned over the years about ozone. With that said I’ve read and understood from trial and practice a couple different things. 1) consider cracking one window about an inch. Ozone feeds on 02. Having it available for your machine is good. 2) run a house size box Fan. Push the ozone around and force it into cracks and crevices. 3) leaving the car outside run it for 10-15 minutes pull it into the ductwork.

I wonder how well it would work for a room? Had a friend who smoked INSIDE a room (tobacco only) and it stinks like death. I washed all the washable surfaces and did everything else...
I am running that exact model as we speak in a truck I bought. i have no idea if the person who owned it never heard of a shower or if they had rabies and were afraid of water but an entire can of lysol, two cans of OZIUM, an entire bottle of febreeze and it did not touch this smell it was horrendous and this was after a professional detailing. I am so hoping this works it has 10 minutes to go I sat it on 35 minutes roughly. *Update* After using the device I can no longer smell the odor of unwashed butt, crotch, fast food, and wet dog but the one issue I did run into is that in the summer it is so humid that getting the ozone to air out is a bit tricky when the air is as thick as pea soup even with fans. Unless you live in an area where it is always humid like here I would recommend doing this on a dry hot day. When it totally vents out I will see if that smell is gone. If it is this will be a miracle machine. Second Update: After the ozone smell was gone and in the hot sun the smell returned. I pounded it 4 more times and it did not go away.
@@Awsme Yes but I had to sell the truck to do it. As for the smell it was pungent as day one no matter what I did. I ran so much ozone through the truck the rubber was messing up and I used UV lamps which faded all the seats and the dash the smell never came out
@@Awsme this is a smart idea because I think it may be a surface smell but you just never know. A friend of mine just bought a vic that reaks of weed and we are trying to get that smell out and it is not happening. I think he is about to sell it. Some smells just stay, especially weed and BO.
Two cans of fuel injector additive got spilled in the interior of my truck in 2004. This produced a petroleum odor so bad that even with all the windows rolled down it was unbearable. And so I had it O-Zone treated. It worked! There was a slight O-Zone smell for about a day or two. But after that it was gone. But thanks for the heads up! Now I know that O-Zone can be harmful to us as well.
I was told not to put the ozone machine inside the car. It has to pull in fresh air. Otherwise you are pulling in ozone treated air back into the machine. Please give me your advice and experience. thank you, Tyna
You're not exactly just "pulling in ozone treated air" for a very simple reason; the O3 molecule is unstable and you're banking on that extra Oxygen atom attaching itself to ANYTHING, including mold, bacteria, viruses etc etc......this IS how it destroys the bad odor, it oxidizes the atoms causing the odor.....but in doing so, the O3 molecule becomes O2 again, so when it passes through the plates and the high voltage splits it up again, the whole unstable molecule of ozone once again goes looking for anything to let that extra oxygen atom to bind to....rinse and repeat!!!!
Ozone is a pretty good band tbh. Really though, yeah this is the best nuclear option for bad smells. I have my dad's old electrical books and family pictures. He didn't even smoke in his house and they smell like stale smoke. I wish we had air freshener that stuck as well as that.
Yes, it state on the user manual. I just bought one these machine and use it today to removed the smoke odors. I just bought the car and previous owner was a smoker so no matter what you clean it with, the odors will not away by itself....except maybe times but who have times when you needs to use the car. It dose works and only cost me $50 from eBay.
Peter Rudy I use ozone constantly to clean and satanize.... ozone in the air will attack double bonds in rubber with natural rubber, polybutadiene, styrene-butadiene rubber and nitrile rubber being most sensitive to degradation. Every repeat unit in the first three materials has a double bond, so every unit can be degraded by ozone.
When exactly do you change the cabin filter? Do you change it before or after you use the generator? I feel like this should be something I can figure out but both seem like the correct answer!
Megan King, Personally I would take the filter out before the ozone treatment, and replace it with the new one after treating the car, and airing the vehicle out.
I was a little concerned with the way you closed the door with the power cable attached. 🚪⚡ Did the cable get damaged in any way? 🤔 I'm not sure if the door closing will damage my power cable. 🚪⚡
You should have the ignition on and the AC set to recirculate with medium/high fan speed. Connecting a battery charger is a good idea while you do this.
Great video, but it is not working for me in my newly acquired 2017 VW Passat. Love this car, but the plug in air freshener stink is killing me! I've used it 2 times, 30 minutes each with windows closed, car running with AC/heat vents on. Next step is replacing the cabin filter. How many times is it safe to use this in a car without causing harm to the interior? And I wonder if I should leave the windows closed for a short time after the unit shuts off. I immediately aired it out.
One more question. I should have waited to the end to ask my questions. I was also told that these machines need fresh air in order to work? Should you run a hose to the back fan part of the machine or at least have the window cracked? or completely enclose it with no air circulation at all
No. Needing fresh air just means make sure the fan in the machine isn't blocked up(clean air filter screen) and air can freely move through the machine.
I think you probably got that from another guy on youtube that claims you need a hose and "fresh air". That was one of several things that he had wrong in that other video. The air is 21% oxygen, all it needs is the oxygen in the car to create all the O3 you need.
Best videos I've watched on this are on point with the weird smell after. I'll give you a bullseye, it's what you smell like after visiting a patient in the hospital. So it can't be so bad but now I know.
If done correctly, then yes. How long they smoked in the car isn't really changing the volume of contaminants that a given surface can hold, and also the chemistry of oxidization will work the same, regardless of the age of the smell.
Four Ps. People, pets, plants and plastics. Ozone attacks plastics and ages them. Most cars are loaded with plastic interiors. There will be damage, mostly resembling aging of the plastic. So ozone can still be used, for short periods, and only occasionally.
Holy shit! The half life of Ozone is not 1hr, it's more like 1 day. Make sure you air out the car completely before destroying your lungs permenantly! And never do it inside a garage.!!! Also, run the air conditioner at the same time so the ozone gets into the vents.
"This is similar to a geometric progression of 16;8;4;2;1. In practice the half life is usually less than 30 minutes due to temperature, dust, and other contaminants in the air. Therefore, ozone, while very powerful, doesn't last long. It does its job and then disappears." Also, I mentioned to do exactly that and to be careful and know how to use it BEFORE using an Ozone machine
after couple of hours there's no ozone. Smell thats stays it's just oxidized particle of smell - harmless ! Easly after opening windows you can drive it, in seconds there will be no ozone in car because you went it. Where do you thing ozone could be after opening door and windows ?
Suggestion for erata: Halftime for O3 in air at room temp is 25H, not half an hour. Half-time in water is 10-30 depending on temperature. The ozonemashine just uses a bit of electricity. Just ventilate well afterwards, as ozone may damage eyes and lungs if concentrated. Can also be used to exterminate bugs!
Excellent video, am just about to order a machine to get the "dead wet dog" smell out of my Subaru Forester. (Never had a dead, wet dog in there, it just smells that way)
Don't forget to turn your heat/a/c on in circulate mode so you get it into all the air vents too. I'm a smoker so I just did mine and let it run for an hour so I can get rid of the smell because I am stopping smoking in my car.
When using an ozone machine within an automobile, you never place the unit inside the vehicle. Otherwise, once the 02 is converted to 03, it can no longer purify the air. Place the unit outside the vehicle, possibly on the car's roof. Use a vent tube. A dryer vent tube will work great! Once placed, the 02 will flow downwards into the vehicle (most effective). Use duct tape to affix the hose to the ozone unit. Run the hose through an open window. Close the window gap as much as possible, then apply cardboard via duct tape around the remaining open areas of the window. Remember, you need 02 to make 03. Always remove all items from your vehicle before use of an air purifier ozone machine. This includes your spare tire. Remember, over ozonating can cause discoloration of various surfaces within your vehicle. If you've mildew, I'd recommend using the machine at least once a week. This will help in destroying newly formed spores. Always be diligent in your research before anything new you want to try 😉. -nurselife
When you said that you were planning on doing this video i looked for similar ones and one of then said that you should not do it inside a garage , the machine was outside the car and the air conditioning on to circulate the air and when the machine is done working you should let the car sit all close and air conditioning off baking in the sun so the O3 molecules work better . i just saw that video and thought could help . keep up with the great work .
If you are referring to the video by Dallas Paint Correction and Auto Detailing please take what that guy says with a grain of salt. I've detailed professionally for over 20 years and 75-80% of what that guy says is his own conspiracy theory BS and the other 20% is pushing the products he is sponsored by. This video is spot on.
I think you missed a critical step in this process. The o3 molecules will attach themselves to any other molecule inside the vehicle, as they bond together they get heavy, heavier than air, and fall to the floor or seat or other surfaces. So the odor molecules aren’t actually gone, nor are the o3 molecules, they’re all on the floor and seats. It’s important to wipe down surfaces and vacuum the carpets after doing this. That way you remove everything.
I Love my Ozone generator in any part of my home that stinks. I also make sure it is concealed in that area. I want it to work in a confined space and it works.
When I worked for an Ambulance company, we got called to the local nursing home often. Naturally these places smell, I did notice perminate units of ozone machine running all the time.
Like I said in your last video. This animal wasn't just a smoker. Pretty sure this person farted and pissed in their his pants while inside the car. You'll need a dozen or even a full box of black ice to even dent the smell in that cage of a car.
His words are true. Cuz I use that Ionizer in my car myself. O3 smells something like a laser printer printing smell. Whatever the smell O3 will leave your car smell odorless. Open the window for about a half day. And Yes, it works.
one thing to be aware of, which nobody mentions, is that ozone will rapidly rust any bare steel such as seat brackets etc. and exposing yourself to ozone is pretty safe. never actually seen an ozone chemical burn because it's safe for our bodies at most industrial levels.
I ran one for too long in my car once and the ozone smell took weeks to fully go away. I recommend doing the 10-20 mins so you can do it again after if it isn’t enough for you
I need it on my nissan titan. Has a flaw when you use the air conditioner it collectors water somewhere and now my vents blew out a weird smell that made me sneeze. Its most likely mold. My car smells a little now and I never use my air conditioner now. How do I get to get into the vents?
You just need to run the air conditioning with recirculation mode on. That takes the ozone from the car interior and runs it through the ducts. If you have a leak or something though, you will need to get that repaired to stop future mold from growing.
You should avoid buying cars from smokers. Getting rid of the smell is always a pain in the ass, and it's almost impossible to get rid of it entirely. Even if you use this method, you may still catch a faint smell of the previous owner's disgusting habit once in a while. Especially when you first start the car. And yes, even after you change the air filters. That smell just sticks to everything, and gets in there in a way we can only wish good smells would. However, I will say this is the best method
Hello. Im getting ready after a good cleaning and all good and dry. Im going to ozone this tahoe BUT it dose have all black with black leather seats and was wondering if the ozoning could have an effect on the black color interior 🤔

Def be careful and not run it too long.
yeah. I had it too on my car. It kinda freshened up the interior for a week or two, but the smell came back eventually. So it works...but not really?! :)))
I put circulation on and also the other options where air blows on the top of the dash and the down the feet. Also with AC and car running. Was that wrong? Should I only have had circulation on?
You shouldn't close a door on an electrical cable--potentially dangerous. Instead, open one of the windows a couple of inches, feed the extension cord through it, plug the extension cord to the unit, and close the door. You do need some oxygen coming into the car for the unit to work efficiently.
Its not dangerous unless you are really forcing the door. If you ever put a cord end on an extension cord its not any differen in the way it creates a pressure point.
A car door on an electrical cable would be fine. They have rubber seals anyway, because they aren't close fitting. Sure of you have a sharp edge, or maybe some damage to the sill or rusty door edge, there might be a problem. Ozone is heavier than air, so it won't float out an open window.

you could go as much as 2/hrs safely without damaging any plastics. Just do it in sessions and make sure you detail as best as you can first before running the machine. a small source of fresh air is needed for the ozone machine to produce O3 , closing all windows wont work and it is counterproductive, a window or a sun roof need to be slightly open.
Really clear and concise video! Thank you.
i'm surprise that you touch some of the theory to explain it. And you were able to do it simplistic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 congrats!
Glad you liked it!
does the O3 will oxidize the dash board and cloth interior ? 🤔
3) leaving the car outside run it for 10-15 minutes pull it into the ductwork.
it dont work, smell came back after a few days.
Ok i can spray water at condenser, there is no cabin air filter in my tundra 2001, Oh yeah, one more thing, bernie going to kick trump ass.@@TheOrgCaptainHowdy
@@dangda-ww7de Are you sure nothing is living in your vents?
I've seen a few videos where critters have taken up residence.
If something has died, or there is a source creating the odour, you will need to remove that, otherwise it will continue to generate the odour after treatment.
@@Cheepchipsable my ordor is smoke, the former owner smoke a lot.
“Or if they had rabies” 😂😂
Did you ever get rid of it?
@@Awsme Yes but I had to sell the truck to do it. As for the smell it was pungent as day one no matter what I did. I ran so much ozone through the truck the rubber was messing up and I used UV lamps which faded all the seats and the dash the smell never came out
@@lowlandraised7266 damn that’s unfortunate… Well I’ll definitely learn from your experience. If the car smells I won’t be buying it that’s for sure😂
@@Awsme this is a smart idea because I think it may be a surface smell but you just never know. A friend of mine just bought a vic that reaks of weed and we are trying to get that smell out and it is not happening. I think he is about to sell it. Some smells just stay, especially weed and BO.
Ionic pro you can find at Goodwill for under $15 one of the most overlooked genuine ozone generators
True
I'm thinking he gave a pretty good lesson in how to use His machine. Perhaps like anything else one would purchase, read the directions.
Ernestyna Eichenlaub that’s why u turn the ac all the way up and put it on circulate
Brendan Doherty yep good answer!!
Ozone is a pretty good band tbh.
Really though, yeah this is the best nuclear option for bad smells. I have my dad's old electrical books and family pictures. He didn't even smoke in his house and they smell like stale smoke. I wish we had air freshener that stuck as well as that.
Is there any danger from this process attacking any sensitive metals or electronics in the vehicle?
Yes, it state on the user manual. I just bought one these machine and use it today to removed the smoke odors. I just bought the car and previous owner was a smoker so no matter what you clean it with, the odors will not away by itself....except maybe times but who have times when you needs to use the car.
It dose works and only cost me $50 from eBay.
it will eat/destroy anything rubber... So don’t run it for very long
Peter Rudy I use ozone constantly to clean and satanize.... ozone in the air will attack double bonds in rubber with natural rubber, polybutadiene, styrene-butadiene rubber and nitrile rubber being most sensitive to degradation. Every repeat unit in the first three materials has a double bond, so every unit can be degraded by ozone.
@@NosFed420 so in that case you shouldnt keep ozone generator running for more then 30mins in car, right?
3 oxygen ATOMS.
Did you replace the in cabin air filter too?
Yes :)
When exactly do you change the cabin filter? Do you change it before or after you use the generator? I feel like this should be something I can figure out but both seem like the correct answer!
Megan King,
Personally I would take the filter out before the ozone treatment, and replace it with the new one after treating the car, and airing the vehicle out.
I was a little concerned with the way you closed the door with the power cable attached. 🚪⚡
Did the cable get damaged in any way? 🤔 I'm not sure if the door closing will damage my power cable. 🚪⚡
Corona Discharge?!! Hell no 😂
🤣🤣🤣 can i take of a passenger body odor 😁😁😁😁😆
hahahhahahahahahhahaahah
🤪
It's electrical engineering speak, Corona (a crown) is just the shape of the ions or some shit
Corona discharge is just considered a sneeze now-a-days
You should have the ignition on and the AC set to recirculate with medium/high fan speed. Connecting a battery charger is a good idea while you do this.
How long should you do that with everything running
Is it fine to leave the car engine on during this process ? I intend to clean the filters as well.
Need one for getting rid of those cleaner smells and car fresheners people use.
I immediately aired it out.
no answer yet from anyone?
You should set ac off but with fan on recirculation active
gonna take a bong hit of that sweet sweet ozone...
I love your videos they are always things that normal people wouldn’t think of
One more question.
Will it work on one of those cars that someone smoked constantly in for years? I have a hard time believing anything would get that out.
Eugene S bro shut the fuck up
Billy , i mean this guy has a point.
"This is similar to a geometric progression of 16;8;4;2;1. In practice the half life is usually less than 30 minutes due to temperature, dust, and other contaminants in the air. Therefore, ozone, while very powerful, doesn't last long. It does its job and then disappears."
Also, I mentioned to do exactly that and to be careful and know how to use it BEFORE using an Ozone machine
after couple of hours there's no ozone. Smell thats stays it's just oxidized particle of smell - harmless !
Easly after opening windows you can drive it, in seconds there will be no ozone in car because you went it. Where do you thing ozone could be after opening door and windows ?
I heard of a guy that abused one of those ozone machines and lost his penis and 4 toes in the process. ;-D
Could you please make a video for the house too everything in detail please 🙏
Suggestion for erata: Halftime for O3 in air at room temp is 25H, not half an hour. Half-time in water is 10-30 depending on temperature. The ozonemashine just uses a bit of electricity. Just ventilate well afterwards, as ozone may damage eyes and lungs if concentrated. Can also be used to exterminate bugs!
Does it get rid of the smell of mould from milk ?
Very informative and appreciate the safety details well done.
great ! but what happen if you let it more than 30min ? it will destroy something inside the car ?
Excellent video, am just about to order a machine to get the "dead wet dog" smell out of my Subaru Forester. (Never had a dead, wet dog in there, it just smells that way)
How did that happen by the way?
Philip Squire
Did it work for you
Don't forget to turn your heat/a/c on in circulate mode so you get it into all the air vents too. I'm a smoker so I just did mine and let it run for an hour so I can get rid of the smell because I am stopping smoking in my car.

Want ac on, ozone works best in low humidity and low temprature.
Ok scientist
How after do you vacuum? Right away after ozone machine is done? Or do you wait some more
Yeah gonna need a source on that lmao
I absolutely love the chemistry lesson you gave on oxygen molecules
I Love my Ozone generator in any part of my home that stinks. I also make sure it is concealed in that area. I want it to work in a confined space and it works.
Thank you so much my man, you have no idea how much money you have saved me up from this video!
I'm happy to hear that Luis!
I can tell you from experience, it works.
Pls share your experiences.. it would be helpful to know.
When I worked for an Ambulance company, we got called to the local nursing home often. Naturally these places smell, I did notice perminate units of ozone machine running all the time.
Thinking about getting one. I have a car with t-tops that leak when it rains. I've had it steam cleaned and it still has a funk to it.
Will that work in a house to eradicate someone's gross toxic smelling cologne?
Like I said in your last video. This animal wasn't just a smoker. Pretty sure this person farted and pissed in their his pants while inside the car.
You'll need a dozen or even a full box of black ice to even dent the smell in that cage of a car.
Tarek Taher hehe some of us are nasty suckers
His words are true. Cuz I use that Ionizer in my car myself. O3 smells something like a laser printer printing smell. Whatever the smell O3 will leave your car smell odorless. Open the window for about a half day. And Yes, it works.
Will the odor be gone forever or will it return after some time?
Something tells me that milan has already detailed his extedior !! Look at that car glow !
Hermon Basil yeah but i think that he will also address that smal rust-spot on the driver's side fender as well
one thing to be aware of, which nobody mentions, is that ozone will rapidly rust any bare steel such as seat brackets etc. and exposing yourself to ozone is pretty safe. never actually seen an ozone chemical burn because it's safe for our bodies at most industrial levels.
were can you get a mask for the ozone safety very good information thank you
Samcrac covered this topic quite well the other week.
Why not run it too long ? What negative effects from too long?
Good video, well explained and great camera !
No more smell? I hear you should run the AC while this is on too
For the house how long need to wait to be safe 🙏
Very good explanation. There would be no problem if you ran it longer, would there?
Should that machine be used to remove smell from the ventilation system?
You should avoid buying cars from smokers. Getting rid of the smell is always a pain in the ass, and it's almost impossible to get rid of it entirely. Even if you use this method, you may still catch a faint smell of the previous owner's disgusting habit once in a while. Especially when you first start the car. And yes, even after you change the air filters. That smell just sticks to everything, and gets in there in a way we can only wish good smells would. However, I will say this is the best method
Jose A. Romo believe me, this will kill the odor of smoke. No doubt there won’t be anything left.
You for got to mention getting rid of some fat persons fast food smells and stink is a pain in the ass and we should avoid buying their cars all so
Sue Hull Do only fat people's fast foods smell?
Hello. Im getting ready after a good cleaning and all good and dry. Im going to ozone this tahoe BUT it dose have all black with black leather seats and was wondering if the ozoning could have an effect on the black color interior 🤔
Would it work for a bedroom too? Previous tenant was a heavy smoker
Yes, however you need to let the room vent with the windows open for AT LEAST a couple hours.
i did this to my house. Works like a charm.
Do you think I should take the cabin air filter out before running the ozone generator? That was recommended in other videos.
Someone I know with multiple chemical sensitivities like me did ozone treatment on a smelly used car and it got worse. Maybe the machine was run too long and the Plastic materials also broke down releasing toxic byproducts. I ran my machine for 3 hours twice on a small office space and it took our the smoke smell.
Abs this won't mess up and electrical components??
I use one in my house and if I leave it on to long the stereo, TV will act up
Does the car air conditioner run while the ozone device is running?
Milan with that chemistry lesson, haha 👍👍
Do you have to have the car running the whole time with the a/c blowing? Thx
This was really well done and informative - Thanks so much!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Does this machine remove moldy mildew smell ??
I had my car bioswept and now there is a strong fragrance so strong almost worse than the smoke smell ! It seems to be coming when I turn the AC on though ? I had one of these machines I have to find it , will it help for the smell coming from AC ?
Your videos are awesome. Keep making such videos, you deserve millions of subs.
how long for a car that sat for 8 years and had rodents nesting in it should i go longer than 30 mins also i have two battery powered dewalt fans is it safe to have them going in the car at the same time as the ozone machine the car isnt running yet and i want to make sure it gets into the hvac and all the nooks and crannies car smells like a dirty hamster cage thanks
Thank you for the statement of caution
should we putting the generator on window and closing the gap with cardboard/tape so it can get oxygen from outside ? or leave it in the car / room in house and leave the window door close ?
you could go as much as 2/hrs safely without damaging any plastics. Just do it in sessions and make sure you detail as best as you can first before running the machine. The longer it was exposed to smoke the longer you have to run it..... YOU NEED to change the CABIN AIR FILTER, or you will never get the smell of smoke out. You can get a cheap OEM filter for like $10-$25 or better yet get one with charcoal that will probably work better
