Yes, I loved it in the eighties when it came out, startled many of my class mates... and love it still. If I could play an instrument, this would be one of my favourites!
I echo all the praise such as "superb", "scary", "wow", "amazing", etc. But one thing that has yet to be mentioned is the mesmerizing curve of his derrière.
I belive there are so many virtuosos out there.. on my behalf I am fortunate enough to know many of them.. excellent and soulful musicians adn most important creative minds, of all genres, what I belive happens is that music industry just dosen't care about them and their music.. the same for the general public! and one always needs to eat ;) cheers excellent MO video
I miss what Oldfield and Tim Cross could do together. Maybe it's Montreaux, but this was more Celtic jazz than any other rendering, a conversation with drums and guitar. When I saw them do this in Toronto in '82, an on-stage smoke break erupted during the drum solo, with a round of smirks. It was really funny.
I talked with some of my friends about maybe doing this at our school's talent show. They looked at me and said "Who the fuck is Mike Oldfield?" Sometimes I hate being 17.
@@Coneman3My Dad bought QE2 when it was the new Mike Oldfield album and used to play it a lot in the car - once he had recorded on to cassette - and I loved it. I bought him Five Miles Out for Christmas when that came out. Amazingly it’s only in the last few years that I have discovered Ommadawn and Incantations.

@Southernmetalhippie, be sure that they loose more than you. Don't worry, this terrible feeling will ease a little bit in a few years (I talk out of self experience!)

I was into Oldfield in the 80s as a teen and no one else I knew was into his music. You have good taste.

@Coneman3 , it was Tim Cross' idea (the guy in the keyboards).
NOTABLE!
I've Just found out that Morris Pert, The drummer on the right hand side of the stage has died at the age of 62.
sad sad sad
@Coneman3 Yes, that's where musicians used to look for inspiration, classical music, not tam tams... :)
@Dessagidir That is too true for me even to be offended...
You are probably right. The music industry pushes what it thinks will bring them the biggest profit.
