You have an entire restaurant? That's incredible! This one restaurant surely must represent the entire food situation in your country. To be fair your country is quite small so one big restaurant might be able to feed all of you.
This is probably about traditional food originating from the country, not people making foreign or foreign-inspired food in a specific restaurant in that country.
Funny that Greece and France are mentioned for their food and Italy mainly for unequal wealth distribution when Italy is the worlds number one place for food and art.
As an italian I will say this: just the fact that you assume I'm not based on the name on my account lets me know, that YOU are a very ignorant person.
A Ukrainian here. I don't agree. Yeah, there's a war here. But still our communal services renew electricity after literal bombings faster than in some top 10 countries during peace time. Our financial services are one of the best (and I have a lot to compare to) and many other stuff. I'm not saying we're in top 20 or even 30, definitely not. But last? Not fair.
As a Pole I agree with you - this video was made more for fun than actual facts. Ukraine is strong country which soon might become a EU member. Stay strong there and I hope this stupid war will end as soon as possible. It's needless and complete nonsense driven by one dillusional prick. Hope it will end soon. Stay strong there!

Gloria all'Ucraina 🇺🇦, Ciao fratello ❤️🌻 From Italy 🇮🇹
It kind of pulls you down that your country is literally getting bombed though. So I have to agree just because of that, if I was going to move to any other European country right now Ukraine would be at the bottom of my list because of that alone. Honestly the same would be true for any other country, even Norway where I live would drop to the bottom of the list of places I'd want to live if it was at war.
In my opinion Ukraine should should be last (after Belarus maybe) I also do not agree with many countries included in this video like Turkey Kazakhstan etc. these are not european! if they were, Ukraine should be higher than them.
We in Estonia, we're not Baltic or Nordic, we're the mix of both, we're Bardic :D Which also explains why we have the highest number of recorded folk songs in the world. :D
More folk songs than us Latvians? I find it hard to believe. People barely even talk up there so I cannot imagine how you sing. In Latvia, we say that the best singing comes from those who suffer the most, and currently your country is in much better shape than ours. Certainly explains the good record-keeping part, but we should have more songs than you.
@tunemaki_izlasitrlv6835 All the love to my Baltic brothers and sisters. This isn't really a competition, it's merely a fun fact, but according to national statistics, Estonia has over 133'000 recorded folk songs, which is 100'000 more than Latvia and in fact the largest folk song collection in the world. I'm not sure if it was just sarcasm, but we talk plenty and we sing a whole lot, clearly! Estonia doesn't have much on wealth or resources, so all we have is singing and smart people.
Latvians are infamous for envy. We have a saying that if you put Estonians in a massive boiling pot they will work together to get out, meanwhile not a single Latvian would leave the pot. Why? Because the moment someone is about to leave, the rest of us would pull them back into boiling water. We simply are too envious to let someone else have what we can't. My previous comment was written with this saying in mind. It can be seen as pure sarcasm, but there is a level of truth in there. Many people in Latvia envy you. You have higher salaries and way better infrastructure, and your population is not split in half to the extent we are. And we are still mad to this day about Roņu (I believe you call it Ruhnu) island. From the Estonian perspective, there is no competition between us, but from the Latvian perspective, there is. For better or worse we do envy you. Despite our close proximity and almost identical history, seems like our culture differs quite a lot.
@tunemaki_izlasitrlv6835 Huh. That's really interesting, i never knew this. I've met many Latvians and they've all been amazing people. I mean, there's not much to envy, we also have a saying: An Estonians favourite snack is another Estonian :D sort of has the same connotation. From my side and most people i know, we sit here and keep our fingers crossed for our Baltic family to do well and for sure, catch up with us. Yes, our cultures are definitely unique, but we can still support eachother to do better. If i could convey one message to Latvians, please don't envy us, anything we have, we've worked hard for and suffered plenty along the way, instead, take it from us as advice, when you start caring for others, you can do anything! Never loose that drive that we the Balts have! 🇪🇪 ❤️ 🇱🇻
As an actual European I have to say that the original video was so dumb. It's like someone making a video titled "50 States in America ranked from Worst to Best" and then including Ecuador, Brazil, Canada. Like, the video is clearly trying to push a particular narrative or viewpoint that isn't the common understanding of what Europe is.
One reason why Ireland has become richest and still growing is because after brexit, many of the multinational companies moved or selected Ireland to be their European headquarters. They way they are still in EU and can have smooth business with EU countries. At the same time, Ireland being English speaking country, many international people who works in these companies are happy to move to Ireland since they and their families (like spouse and children) can still get access to English schools and job markets. Many of the people working in these multinational companies are high level employee like managers or experts who take care of all of their European businesses.
It's mainyl because it's so-called tax heaven country, so most of global corporations want to have headquaters there and avoid taxes in other EU countries, I hope they will find a solution how to pay proper taxes in countries where they have bussines. Few days ago, we lost electricity for like 1 minute with no visible reason, I almost thouht that WWIII finally started. 😀
Watching an American that actually knows geography react to this stuff is so refreshing, holy heck. Thank you for existing, thanks UA-cam for showing me this
My other half is German and irrepressible. But I don't think even she was ready for how much of a downgrade it would be moving wholesale from Munich to Northamptonshire. It was like giving up your house to go and live in the garage.
Here is a question, if Britain is only 13th why do asylum seekers and immigrants from Africa and the middle East pass through 12 other 'better' countries to get to ours???
Because they didn't get the memo that we have destroyed our nation over the last 15 years, plus English is the most spoken language on earth...so most nations teach English as a second language. This means we will always be preferred by the majority.
Because of English. It is the official language in more than 50 countries( 22 of them are in Africa) and wildly spread around the world with more than 2 billion users, but in Europe it is mostly only used in the UK. It is also the cheapest language to learn thanks to the educational materials available in any major language. If British ancestors had not forced their ancestors to use English, the situation might have been different.
Because this is just one person's opinion. But seriously there needs to be a campaign of UA-cam videos saying the UK is horrible to put people off coming here.
because they dont give a fuck about how nice it is, they care about how rich it is and how money it will give them for doing nothing, they migrate a lot to Sweden too for the same reason. Which for me as a Czech is kinda good because it makes me believe that the imigrants here often come because they really like it here and not only because of economical reasons.
Beyond the countries' ranking and the controversies it can (more or less rightly) cause, what I would like to know is on what basis/criteria the author made it (he says so in his video?), because that of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) is different and is based on real and verified data.
That's nice, Iceland won something for once, I'm sure they'll appreciate that. I do have to say though, being a Norwegian, it's completely false that Denmark does not have good food, their food is excellent, especially their baked goods. Out of all the Nordic nations Denmark has the best food in my opinion, their boar and truffles are fantastic. Granted, I'm judging this on personally experiences from like ten years ago, but still, I believe it holds true.
''Best food out of Nordic nations'' that is a very low bar from my experience. Lets not even mention the obvious countries we all know for good food, food in Nordic doesn't even compare to Eastern Europe. I always thought since your salaries is 5 times higher than we earn here in former USSR, then surely food has to better. But then I went to Nordics and was honestly surprised by how bland and expensive food is there.
@@tunemaki_izlasitrlv6835Guess you didn't go to the right places. Lots of nordic restaurants have Michelin stars. Expensive? Yes. But great food. If you eat at the cheap places, you'll miss the good stuff. I've never been to eastern Europe, it seems like grey, oldfashioned places and also a bit poor. Maybe there are traces left from the USSR era? Lots of Norwegians travel to Poland though, and like it a lot. But not for the great food.
@@lillia5333 Ok, now you sound like a snob. Michelin-star restaurants? Of course, I was not talking about a few places for only the very rich. If you pay a lot you sometimes get a lot is the case everywhere. And that's the problem ''the right places''. In many European countries, you can go to any place and get decent stuff, but in Nordic countries, you can spend 20 euros for a lump of frozen meat. To put it in perspective 20 euros is the same as 5 hours of minimal salary work (after tax), and is enough to have a full 3-course tasty meal and drinks where I live. Or you can buy around 1,5 litres of vodka, meanwhile, in Nordics, you can forget about hard liquor for less than 40 euros. Value for money matters.
I would have put Denmark no.1 and I’d like the danish king to rule Iceland again, please ❤ I’m Icelandic and I don’t agree about the “no corruption” thing here. We got shitty politicians like everybody else
Hi from Poland, i know we still have some catching up to do in terms of wages, healthcare, etc compared to western Europe, but i'd like to think that being the safest country in EU, having fastest growing economy, lowest unemployment, best IT workers, not to mention still existing would get us something more than 10 seconds - "most average and bagels" 😁
Iceland is the safest country in Europe. Fastest growing economy in Europe is Ireland. The lowest unemployment rate is in the Czech Republic at 2.5%. Poland isn't even in the top 3 in these metrics.
Yeah, its a miracle that you have a stable government system and a unique national identity after numerous attempts to destroy you by both Germany and Russia/Soviet Union. Its a real testament to the durability of the Polish people. Na Zdrowie!

Corruption and views LGBT is the only things he consistently talks about. One of those things we cannot accurately measure, the other one is completely irrelevant. Iceland isn’t a good country at all cold, long winters volcanos, rains all time and went bust in 2008 everything is expensive and it the government resigned due to abuse scandal. The cost of living is also high and it is a mini police state. Ireland had to be bailed out the the UK and ECB in 2008 as well.

In answer to your question, Connor, about the "exact" boundaries of Europe, I've found this video which I think, gives a pretty good explanation of the definitionn of "a Continent". You might find it interesting: "How many continents are there?" - Jay Foreman (on YT)
From Ireland's point of view, dont just look at average GDP as it distorts true wealth. There's plenty of reports showing Ireland's true wealth is closer to the EU average.
The South half of the UK gets loads of incredible weather as well (aka NOT Scotland / N. Ireland). The south half & the north half of the UK are 2 separate countries when it comes to weather. South half of UK = more often beautiful and gorgeous sunny weather than anything else, (you just simply stay away from the far north west). Furthermore, if you're anywhere in the central, south and east, it's more likely to be borderline drought / drought weather some of the time in spring - fall, especially in the heatwave prone central, east & south in spring / summer. There's even plenty of winter sunshine days to be had in the south half split of the UK as well, plus increasingly warmer winter days, before we even start to talk about the more drought prone, borderline semi-arid south east of the country that could run out of water in the fairly near future. There's nothing quite like a spring / summer's day in the UK, trees in full bloom included, because it really is the very best place one could wish to ever be during that weather. Then, of course for the best weather, you have got the central & south and south west of the country, the Riviera and the sunshine south coast, where the sunshine occurs more year round and Indian summers abound in the Mediterranean micro-climate SW area of the country. The troll maker of the original video has shown the classic & complete opposite to actual reality misinformation bias, aka a dumb, emotional inferiority complex towards the UK, not based on the actual reality whatsoever. In the end all it simply does is show how monumentally dumb & misinformed the people that make them actually are.
As being a citizen of 25th country in Europe (according to this video) which is Poland I would rather born and die here instead living in US of A. Even as 25th country in Europe (according to this "stats") I have free healthcare, free education and relatively normal taxes here. Also entrepreneurs from "The valley (CA)" are moving their bussinesses here because they find more qualified engineers here and not in US. Not mentioning that tons of People from USA, UK and other parts of the world are moving here because they claim it's "more NORMAL" country. You can find tons of their vlogs online. And listen - I know this "statistics" are more for fun and don't represent real life standards. I'm just saying that more and more Americans (and other dudes) are moving here. So I'm not offended or anything but just want to show you some facts. And to support my claim - among many other videos that can be found on UA-cam - I recommend watching this one: ua-cam.com/video/3z1jTj6jXiI/v-deo.html BTW Connor - you can make reaction video to this if you like.
Basically the UK gov didn't want to have to provide jobs, benefits and services to poor Maltese citizens (which back then was basically all of them). It didn't want to have to pay to modernise Maltese infrastructure and feared a mass immigration to the UK of people looking for work. It was stupidly short termist thinking as Malta would now be one of the most profitable per capita regions in the UK (well, assuming Malta didn't secede and go independent before now)! I guess it's not all that different in reasoning to the UK's recent hissy fit over the EU and not wanting to have to provide EU citizens with jobs, benefits and services. And again, given all the major financial benefits to being part of the EU, equally short sighted.
@@CountScarlioni Well I guess some of that unwarrented essay was accurate. The comparisson with Brexit was WAY off the mark though. The narrator in the video Connor is reacting to says, Europe is not a real continent. It’s part of Eurasia. So, does that mean Asia is not a real continent. It’s part of Eurasia. What gives? 🤔 Having said that, I didn’t agree with the narrators opinion about the UK’s weather, stating it’s always gloomy and depressing. Yes, we’ve seen a lot of rain this year but we have nice weather too. Also, blaming our economical woes all on Brexit is unfair. Unlike the rest of the G7 countries, none of them have had to contend with Brexit, on top of a pandemic and the Ukraine war at the same time. Bearing in mind, Brexit has been more difficult because almost half of our politicians in government, including the home office and mainstream media are deliberately trying to sabotage it and reverse it. And the EU is deliberately using Northern Ireland as a bargaining chip to keep the U.K. permanently tied to EU rules and regulations, so we can’t break away and be independent.
I've found this video that imo gives a pretty good explanation of what really IS a Continent. Watch on YT: "How many continents are there?" - Jay Foreman
Technically Europe isn't a continent. Continents are defined by (simplified) geological falt lines. Europe and Asia are technically sitting on the same continental plate and hence are one continent. The diversion is based on the long historical cultural split between Europe and Asia. Regarding your: "Also, blaming our economical woes all on Brexit is unfair. Unlike the rest of the G7 countries, none of them have had to contend with Brexit, on top of a pandemic and the Ukraine war at the same time." You're wrong - They did. Germany, France and Italy were also affected by Brexit. It is pretty ignorant to only spot the damagine economical effects of Brexit on the British side. And this: "because almost half of our politicians in government, including the home office and mainstream media are deliberately trying to sabotage it and reverse it." is pure nonesense. Your politicians can't achieve things that aren't within their power. Some visions of the UK after Brexit are simply impossible and some negative effects, of cutting off the most important trade zone, can never been overcome. Too much wishful thinking here, sorry. I mean no offense, but it needs to be said. "And the EU is deliberately using Northern Ireland as a bargaining chip to keep the U.K. permanently tied to EU rules and regulations, so we can’t break away and be independent." What other solution do you have in mind? In my personal opinion, it is pretty crazy to blame the EU here. The UK is bound to Ireland through some important treaties. UK caused this mess with their decission, without providing a solution for this issue first, that Ireland can accept, and that also honors those treaties. And Ireland is a member of the EU and therefore is also bound to their existing treaties.
Anyone who owns a business can tell you brexit was pointless. What did we gain? We have no more freedom than before, and now it's more expensive to do business or go on holiday. "Trying to reverse it" hasn't caused any economic issues. Trying to not negotiate for any trade or travel agreements with the EU is what's done it

Please don't believe UA-cam faceless channels with no proof that they visited or talked to the natives.
Also, they're no where near as rich as it looks on paper since foreign companies are inflating their numbers and most of that money they're pulling in does not go to Ireland or it's citizens, it goes out of the country without anyone ever seeing it.
@@daniel4647 In Ireland we use two main metrics to assess our economy: i) A modified GNI PPP:= [(GNI) - (the depreciation on Intellectual Property) - (the depreciation on leased aircraft) - (the net factor income of redomiciled PLCs)]. This is an income based method. ii) Modified Domestic Demand:= [(Personal Consumption Expenditure) + (net government expenditure) + (fixed capital expenditure) + ( physical changes in stocks) - (balance of trade from Multinationals)]. This is an expenditure based method. Using these metrics our central bank and central statistics office have concluded that Irish GDP is inflated by 15-20% depending on the year (IP transfers). As Ireland is an island nation, commodities average 8% higher here than in continental Europe. Irish living standards lie somewhere between those of Sweden and the Netherlands; not Norway or Luxembourg. Point of order: The capital inflows from MNCs largely aren't leaving the country - companies are holding their EMEA cash in Irish accounts and investing the capital in Ireland as/when they need to so as to avoid paying taxes in the US. As of march 2021, there was $6.2T worth of foreign assets under management in Ireland. As such, the money is indirectly benefiting the Irish economy by providing jobs in R&D and high value-adding industries.
Yes the Caucasus mountain range is the boundary between Europe and Asia. Armenia, Georgia and most of Azerbaijan are to the south of those mountains so they shouldn't be considered European.
Maybe a better, more objective way of judging which countries are the best, would be to look at the suicide rates per % of population. That would eradicate a lot of the subjectivity in this video.
@@dnocturn84 yes I agree, which proves my point. If you look at the suicide rates you'll find the levels higher in these so called happiness countries; Iceland, Finland, Norway etc. This unpalatable truth highlights flaws or incompleteness of the mechanisms used in research that produce clearly nonsensical conclusions such as the one in this video.
@@MrMajsterixx True, trying to get a numerical value for happiness is indeed BS. But there has to be a reason for people, who are asked if they feel happy in their country, to answer that they're unhappy, while people from other countries say that they are happy. These results might have to always be taken with a grain of salt, but there is a message hidden within this as well. Then they usually also contain other metrics as well, such as the mentioned suicide rate. If you don't like the part of it being a result of opinion polls, I recommend looking at more substantial values, such as suicide rate.
Yeah I'd say Turkey is more Europe than Kazakhstan is. I mean, the part attached to Greece and Bulgaria is Europe for sure. But the rest... well for much of history it was just more Greece. And yeah the idea that India and the middle east should be it's own continent makes a lot of sense to me.
The decline of the UK isn't caused by Brexit. The decline started at least three of decades before that. I'm not making a pro Brexit statement here, just saying that the decline is long term & it won't get any better.
Decline started thirty odd years ago? That would be about the time that the EC became the EU then. The UK were promised a vote on being part of the EU but that did not happen. The UK was taken into the EU without the consent of its people. That was corrected recently.

Sometimes more greek than turkish, and they have many european cultural aspects. But also many things from Asia such as religion and some cuisine and so on.
Instead of defined continents, we should just use the (major) tectonic plates as measurements. Then we would have 7 "contintents", that would be very clearly defined
I don't see why they should be clearly defined like that. There are countless geopolitical reasons why we consider some countries e.g., European, and others not. Depending on the issue we can "alter" these borders on the fly.
7 major tectonic plates, which major ? Biggest are Antartica, Pacific and Australia basicly wasteland, North and South America, Africa and than you have Euroasia which is so stupidly huge with 3/4 of the Earths total population that it defines nothing.

In Latvia, we say that the best singing comes from those who suffer the most, and currently your country is in much better shape than ours.
Certainly explains the good record-keeping part,
but we should have more songs than you.

There's plenty of reports saying that Ireland's wealth is an illusion. The highest average GDP doesn't actually mean the richest country.......

Multiple factors. The English language, historical ties to the Empire and a long lasting reputation, being the "special friend" of the US, etc.
Ireland shouldn't even been close to top 5. Mayby something in range of 15-10
Beyond the countries' ranking and the controversies it can (more or less rightly) cause, what I would like to know is on what basis/criteria the author made it (he says so in his video?), because that of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) is different and is based on real and verified data.

That's nice, Iceland won something for once, I'm sure they'll appreciate that.

Can you believe Malta asked to become part of the UK... and our politicians said "No"... just WTF were they thinking :)

The narrator in the video Connor is reacting to says, Europe is not a real continent. It’s part of Eurasia. So, does that mean Asia is not a real continent. It’s part of Eurasia. What gives? 🤔
Having said that, I didn’t agree with the narrators opinion about the UK’s weather, stating it’s always gloomy and depressing.
Unlike the rest of the G7 countries, none of them have had to contend with Brexit, on top of a pandemic and the Ukraine war at the same time."
You're wrong - They did.
"And the EU is deliberately using Northern Ireland as a bargaining chip to keep the U.K. permanently tied to EU rules and regulations, so we can’t break away and be independent."
What other solution do you have in mind?
In my personal opinion, it is pretty crazy to blame the EU here. The UK is bound to Ireland through some important treaties. UK caused this mess with their decission, without providing a solution for this issue first, that Ireland can accept, and that also honors those treaties. And Ireland is a member of the EU and therefore is also bound to their existing treaties.
I don't think anybody has ever blamed the UK's economical woes all on Brexit
Anyone who owns a business can tell you brexit was pointless. What did we gain? We have no more freedom than before, and now it's more expensive to do business or go on holiday.
"Trying to reverse it" hasn't caused any economic issues. Trying to not negotiate for any trade or travel agreements with the EU is what's done it

Also, they're no where near as rich as it looks on paper since foreign companies are inflating their numbers and most of that money they're pulling in does not go to Ireland or it's citizens, it goes out of the country without anyone ever seeing it.
@@daniel4647 In Ireland we use two main metrics to assess our economy:
i) A modified GNI PPP:= [(GNI) - (the depreciation on Intellectual Property) - (the depreciation on leased aircraft) - (the net factor income of redomiciled PLCs)].

Maybe a better, more objective way of judging which countries are the best, would be to look at the suicide rates per % of population. That would eradicate a lot of the subjectivity in this video.
It is technically indirectly considered through the "happiness" ranking. There it is part of it.
@@dnocturn84 happiness rankings are total bs
@@MrMajsterixx True, trying to get a numerical value for happiness is indeed BS. But there has to be a reason for people, who are asked if they feel happy in their country, to answer that they're unhappy, while people from other countries say that they are happy. These results might have to always be taken with a grain of salt, but there is a message hidden within this as well.
Then they usually also contain other metrics as well, such as the mentioned suicide rate. If you don't like the part of it being a result of opinion polls, I recommend looking at more substantial values, such as suicide rate.

Sometimes more greek than turkish, and they have many european cultural aspects. But also many things from Asia such as religion and some cuisine and so on.
nice, but there are only 44 country's in europe as of today 15-1-2024
😅It was clear to me that he would include Azerbaijan and Turkey, but they are also more West Asian
1:20 So... Other countries pay taxes, then...? Is this guy for real?
I’m in U.K. but would love to see you do the one on usa
¿En Islandia no encarcelaron a todos los políticos que habían llevado al país a la ruina? Creo que fue con la crisis del 2008, no hace tanto y deberíamos aprender los demás.
Where is Faroe Island ?
I see through your videos you have a hard time identifying Nordic countries. So there are five of them: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
Europe and Asia being counted as separate continents is just stupid. The continent is Eurasia.
If Scotland had gained its independence in the 70s it would have been number one, despite The Rangers supporters 😂
Europe should be renamed Northern Asia as it's part of the Asian continent. Northern Asia, central Asia and southern Asia 😂. I can hear the purists now.
Do you realize how lucky you are just doe to the fact that you have an european passport??
Bit out of date - Germany officially in recession and UK has avoided it….
I agree with you most of the country's of those azien country's i don't consider european. And i'm from europe.
I prefer to live in a sunny hot Portugal, than all north grey cold rich countries
good = western and northern
bad = eastern and eastsouthern
that's why nobody wants to be called eastern europe 😀
Old empires make this border mate. They are not much geografical borders.Gratz, from Bulgaria :)
Is there a 50 states from worst to best video?
The most he has to say about the UK (apart from Brexit - no argument there) is the poor weather. Rubbish! London is the driest city in Europe (apart from Madrid). It's even drier than New York. And Ireland is FAR wetter than the UK as a whole.
bullshit bulgaria has the highest peternity... they have 59 weeks and sweden has 66 weeks o.0
