Here is part 2! A chilly treasure hunt this time exploring the east side of the loch. Here is the link to part 1 ua-cam.com/video/NNZ1BKt0Szs/v-deo.html
In the late medieval and/or through the renaissance, they had celebrity chefs who were in huge demand throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, and they were celebrities because of their ability to roast meats, especially beef, and yes they were British(and it’s where the jealous French get roast beef as a nickname for Brits)……….. You can look up the Forme of Cury, which is a fourteenth century British cookbook, although it’s not a cookbook as most people understand, because it has a massive difference from our cookbooks, which is that nothing is made with set weights or measures………… But as a Cornishman who loves to cook, I found the information on pasties was very interesting, as in those days(14C onwards) north of Cornwall, they only put venison in pasties, and that’s possibly why the very very old saying about the devil not coming down here, because we put anything in our pasties(including salted preserved herrings)……….
The rocks were beautiful in that part of the Loch. Other areas seemed so deep and dark…I don’t know how you saw anything. My favourite was the dark amber whiskey bottle. Thanks for braving the cool temps in and out of the water. You Scots are hardy, like us Canadians!😉👍
Thanks for sharing: it's cool to learn about Scotland, the Lochs and all the history around you.. lovely accents as well! Keep up the smiles and cheekiness in and out of the water. Love from Detroit🍾❣
Brrrrr….🥶 I don’t envy you the temperature in that Loch! Some nice finds, I like the Younger’s bottle & the mystery Escoffier bottle & the story behind it was very cool. 👍🏻
It must be very cold 🥶 🤧 deep down. You guys are strong 💪 ❤. Enjoy diving and collecting more beautiful and unique things. Lovely video with lots of lovely information. I too loved the coffee bottle, as I love to collect branded coffee mugs . Really enjoyed and loved the video and the 8 bottles. I like the wine bottle too. Make more beautiful video n upload for us . With love from SAM Guwahati, Assam, India 🇮🇳 ♥
Just discovered and subed to your channel...wow!...you guys have an absolutely stunning aquatic paradise to explore, packed full of beautiful Victorian treasures. Looking forward to joining you in all of your future adventures! Happy hunting from Christchurch, New Zealand 🇳🇿.
Thanks for the follow! You might be our first NZ sub 😁 it is pretty beautiful down there and always enhanced by some lovely Victorian treasures as you say!
Love your videos thus far. I am in Minnesota, USA. Just curious as to why you do not bring along a small inflatable boat to put all your finds in. That way you can clear the loch of bottles that you do not want to keep along with the items that you treasure. Just a thought. Keep up the good work. I have very fond memories of my travels in Scotland. Beautiful country, nice pubs and wonderful people.
An old inner tube with netting tied across under the middle, towed behind you on a 20' rope tied to your weight belt, or anchored nearby using a stone or weight, has worked well for me.
Great bottles from your latest dive. So interesting seeing underwater and the bottles that you found. Your roundups are so interesting and I love to hear where all your bottles are from. Look forward to your next one 👍🇦🇺 xxx
Would an underwater bright torch be a help or a hindrance in these lochs? I don’t dive myself but just wondering if it would illuminate the bottom more or would it paradoxically just highlight silt that had been disturbed?
This is something we are considering too! As you say would it just diffused through silt and algae etc or would it be good! I suspect at night it could be quite good for spotting things!
You two need some scuba gear...given enough time to look underwater, serious archeology can ensue. Love your vids and love seeing people daring to look in the first place. ✌️🇨🇦
Adventure Archeology is an interesting site. Brandon has designed a new bottle polishing system. His wife makes jewelry from pottery and glass they find in streams and dumpsites. Be safe out there.
do not tumble those rare old bottles for the love of god that will destroy their natural look.. you see it all the time when people try to restore old things and it destroys the value
Thanks for a very entertaining video. It brought back a lot of happy memories. Amazing visibility in the Loch. It’s clearly, a freshwater Loch. Suggest that you take a bag with you next time.
From dry land ; I have an acid etched Perth Craik bottle in amber and the aqua of the Escoffier ; cool finds in a beautiful setting . Now you've just to find Nessie .
The only other bottle of this shape that I have found is a taller elongated aqua one with the words Wah Wah ( on it ) as in wah wah peddle haha. I dont keep to many bottles though but a wah wah was hard to resist . I'm more inks ; pipes ,marbles pottery digger .
Aww guys that looks freezing. Fair play. Aww the blue jug being Staffordshire made means it’s from just up the road from me. Lovely finds again guys 🙌🏼
Getting pretty cold now! Dreading the next one as there have been frosts recently 😂 Ah! A local one to you then, got a lot of time for the flow blue ware now!
I'm truly enjoying these hunts. Please promise to protect your ears and sinuses from the cold water. Through the winter it would be great if you could take us through the steps of your bottle polishing creation. Loved the finds today. The three piece mold bottle is my favorite, almost as old as the black glass bottle. See you next time! Take care of yourselves and have a lovely week.
Thanks Julianne! We will protect our ears well 👂We will definitely do a video on our polisher! Yeh we are chuffed with the aqua three piece bottle such good consition too!
Really enjoy the underwater footage! Maybe you can include the extended footage like you have at the end for those that are interested like myself. 😊 Loved the history, on-screen images of advertising and the account of the dirty rotten chefs. 😅. Looking forward to more of your videos and also more of getting to you know you two and your story of how you met and started doing this. 👋🥰
Id be hunting out old maps to see if any town have gone underwater. If we go into drought again, Im diving a old town that was founded in 1879 and went underwater in the mid 1900's .... Last time we had a drought, The church steeple was exposed... I think it would be a good dive.
Wow that sounds so exciting imagine diving inside all the old buildings and stuff. I hope they are intact. There has been a lot of reservoirs built here in Scotland so I’ll have a look at some old maps and see if there are any lost villages nearby!
@@bottlesfromthedeep The thing about your country is, Those old towns cold have relics easily 500 plus years old.. I get excited if i find something from the early 1900's. Id be researching ship wrecks on any of the lakes, old towns, Historic battles between Clans etc..
We have our eyes on a loch with a castle and Jacobite history this weekend! Going to be freezing though so I’ve bought a neoprene vest for under the wet suit 😂
That’s a great idea, when loch glascarnoch is running low you can see an old military road re-exposed. I’ve often wondered if there’s a wee hut or something down there. I guess you’d need to be super careful about swimming around dams though, lest you get sucked into their outlet pipes etc.
@@tozmom615 This sunken town is about 2km from the dam wall location.. So should be pretty safe... And even if i did feel like I was being sucked somewhere, Full inflation of my BCD would send me to the surface pretty quick as soon as I released my dive belt.
Quite a neat pastime, and you two have access to some great locations to explore. Lochs galore there in Scotland, and surely there are some real jems and secrets in the waters. I've always found it crazy how so many people now, and throughout history have pitched stuff into the ponds, rivers, lakes and oceans of the world. All the best folks!
Brilliant watching guys and so glad you have news about your stoneware beast being a bread crock, that's so cool! Love the Escoffier, but I am a bit in love with those hocks, such exciting and unusual colours, like nothing else. Thanks for the shout out, loved the adverts you found to illustrate, so interesting! 😍👏
It was so fun researching the last two hauls especially the turtle soup 🐢 🍲 the hocks are pretty lovely aren’t they! Many years ago we just used to find the ends of them in the ground near the house and always wondered what they would look like whole. Even found one half full of delicious 1800s wine. It still smelled fine. Kind of regret not trying it now 😄
With all the rubbish happening in the world & all the rubbish of most videos and such yu guys are top shelf! Love the videos! Cheers to you two and many fab finds to come! Frm Canada

Really enjoying these first two of your videos! Looking forward to more!

Hello! Just watching from New Zealand 🇳🇿! It's light here till 9pm at present!
Oh what a luxury that would be for evening bottles hunting 😍 hope you have a nice summer!
Love the finds and the research / great channel / great team
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should consider selling your finds at some point. I’d love to buy an antique bottle that I watched being unearthed from under the water.
I think we will start and Etsy shop for all the stuff that would be fun!
You seem like a lovely couple with great welcoming personalities; I am happy your channel is finding relatively quick success.
Love your finds! Y'all should get an underwater metal detector and see what other treasures you can discover.
We really want one! Might have to get it as a joint Xmas present 🎁
Absolutely love your content, it’s too cold for me to get out and dig/explore, so I’m just cleaning what I have gotten throughout the spring/summer

Looks like a tequilla Reserva 1800 blanc bottle...in my humble opinion
some cracking finds here...the wee one certainly approves...and enjoys the stories behind them too.
Great bottles from your latest dive. So interesting seeing underwater and the bottles that you found. Your roundups are so interesting and I love to hear where all your bottles are from. Look forward to your next one 👍🇦🇺 xxx
Hello, love the channel and especially how you tell what you found out about previous finds 😊
It may be that shape because it was. Left too close to heat in the kitchen

Thanks Sylvia we had a lot of fun researching all the finds 😍
Watching, and following from Glasgow. Lovely wee videos. Thank you for sharing your adventures!

In sure that you’ve heard this before, why not go to Loch Ness? Imagine what you might find!

Interesting what you guys are finding. Hello from Washington state.

A new subscriber and fan from the US Virgin Islands. Great channel!
Welcome to the channel!
Wow an underwater mud larking !! Love this so I joined. Susann 76
Haha exactly! We came up with the term Loch Larking 😆
I wasn't aware you could tumble polish bottles! Really like the history of the chef and his escapades!🥰🥰🥰
Glad you enjoyed the chefs story 😁
Love the show . Bread who would have thought . Great finds . Cheers from Iowa.
Thanks Yancey! I know it was the last thing we expected!
A floating 'goodie basket' might be a help in gathering your finds.
We definitely need something as it gets a bit heavy swimming with all the bottles 😆
do not tumble those rare old bottles for the love of god that will destroy their natural look.. you see it all the time when people try to restore old things and it destroys the value
It’s good to hear an alternative view! Perhaps we will think again!
Thanks for a very entertaining video. It brought back a lot of happy memories.

Hi from Perthshire, I can remember drinking Thomson Craik lemonade in the 70’s, it wasn’t too great 😅
Haha! When do you think they ceased trading?
@@bottlesfromthedeep not really sure, 80’s sometime I think.
