Last vid of a great year of vids and success. Good Luck to you both and yours for continued success and fortune in the New Year and beyond !! If there are any plans to add to the specs of the ML1 or another special run how about canvasing for a Trans Blue Denim Slate colour with a Maple Board ?
Thanks chaps, For me the introduction of the LPJ as an affordable line of Gibson Les Paul's was a great move by Gibson. It's the perfect way to encourage brand loyalty in new and younger players. I have a 2014 fire burst LPJ and am digging the 61 pups! This thing plays like butter too!
I bought the lpj in that finish and made it look like Clapton-Harrison Lucy Les Paul. I added cram pickguard, pu cover, toggle witch, and gold top hat knobs
I know this video is now super old, but I just bought a used 2014 Les Paul LPJ. I’ve wanted a Les Paul since I was 17 and just moved to London from New Zealand. I can’t believe I found one at such a great price. Such great guitars. ❤
Got the 2014 LPJ last year and put Seymour Duncan Slash alnico 2 pickups in it. I really like the maple neck and the stain. The hardware has a nice satin finish. They are great guitars and worth the money if you can find one.
I’ve had my 2014 LPJ for quite some time now (bought it when first came out). The same color as the one Rob is playing. The playing feel is amazing as well as the build quality. The sound is great as well. It’s the best bang-for-the-buck!
LPJ is a little bit fizzy, but overall is pretty impressive, esspecially according to the price. i think that another set of pickups will make this beauty not much worse than studio or even traditional.
I think I'm the luckiest guy in the world. A month ago I found a LPJ on ''Best Buy''. It was a liquidation sale. I paid 450.00$ CDN wich is about 325.00$ US. They were all sold within a few days. This guitar is as good as the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe gold top 1976 Iused to have. The tone is different compared to the small humbuckers I had on my 1976 but it rocks. Now I'm just waiting for my Blackstar HT Club 50 to arrive in the next 2-3 weeks.
I've had a chocolate satin 2013 lpj for almost four years and I love it. It was my first "expensive" guitar ever (where I live even this guitar is pretty g-damn expensive).
I personally loved the sound of the LPJ, and I love the satin finishes, I'm glad that these models are still available in some stores here in Mexico (Best Buy has some in stock right now). So I will get one tomorrow. In the Vintage Sunburst Perimeter Finish. I wanted to buy a Gibson ever since I started to play the guitar (specially a Les Paul, I'm a huge fan of that model) so, now is the chance. I never thought they would ever release an american made guitar for such an affordable price.
I'm not a fan of the short scale on Gibsons but I have to say that I like the LPJ, especially those dark brown finishes. Sounds great! Thanks for doing real world reviews, guys. It's much appreciated. If I lived in the UK, you'd have my business for sure!
Excellent playing lads. I can tell you really like these guitars. Great entertainment as usual, so many thanks. You are to guitars, what top gear is to cars. Excellent! All the best for the new year.
I've been collecting Gibson guitars for a few decades and my 2013 LPJ Pro is still one of my favorite go to guitars. Of course I've modded it to my liking...pickups, tuners etc.. Edit: not to mention, they're worth more on the used market than the new price tag. I purchased my Pro for only $699 and now you can't find one for under $850 in decent condition.
@@Driven2Beats Depends I guess. The 2013 came with the 490's with black plastic covers that looked cheap. I got rid of them with a quickness. But I'm sure some folks liked them. My Pro came with the push/pull circuit board.
Man i have one of these guitars and i actually favour it over most of my other highend gibsons....weird i know. By the way rob and el captain do probably the best videos on youtube...always a good watch to pass the day at work
the 2013 cherry LPJ with 490r/498t and a hard maple neck ,and the custom cheap plastic cover, clone emg/P/U look is actually a very functional and chick magnet guitar,it plays funk, punkabilly, crenshaw and slauson blues, and the deep metal/classic rock all for a epiphone price point discontinued it blows the 61 humbucker 2014 LPJ away thanks rob and cap for the good guitar conversation
The guitar Lee's holding looks like one of my fishing lures. That said, I still want to try out these 2014 LP's. I'm pretty impressed with my 60's tribute.
this lespaul was best bang for my buck ever, a 2013 desert burst lpj well under 1000 for an american made Gibson, is crazy, also why it was only around for 1 year
I never thought that I would ever want another Les Paul as the one I have is just so, so good. Maybe I got lucky and snagged one of those rare jewels that just got it right in every way but...yeah. With all of that said these LPJ's are really nice man. They sound great and play incredibly nice! Pick one up and play for a few minutes and it's really hard to not slap down the cash and walk away with one. It doesn't look as good as others as it doesn't have the binding and crazy AAAAAA flame tops but if you're a guy that buy's guitars for tone and playability because, you know, you're actually going to play it and gig with it and not just look at it, I don't think you can go wrong with one of these.
Big thanks to Capt Anderson, Chappers, Bea and Co, for keeping me entertained with great gear reviews, previews and comparisons, oh, and er tonewood er, "proof" good luck into the new year guys. Keep up the good work! \m/ ;-)) \m/
I'm buying one! From GAK in Brighton though cos they give me really good discounts for being such a great customer and they're a cool bunch of fellas ;-)
Dear Captain and Chapman I really love your show and Gibson products, (I actually owe an SGJ (very happy with it)), but your customers and viewers would certainly gain from learning about other amazing LesPaul type guitar MFGs like Michael Kelly, Agile or Indie guitars... I had a much bigger bang for the buck with a Michael Kelly that offers awesome lacquer finish, split coil option along with top luthery and wood quality that you could only get on a Gibson at a very expensive price...
Nah, the 2014 Classic is probably the biggest disappointment. A Les Paul Classic should have 496R and 500T pickups, and a 60's slim taper neck, like my 1997 Classic and 2012 Classic Plus. I personally think Gibson mucked around too much with it and ruined the Classic.
dsn716 wouldn't be much point in releasing the classic exactly as it was before just to suit you people who can't handle change. A new twist on the classic is refreshing. My main guitar is a 2005 classic which is awesome but I certainly wouldn't be against a change. If you want an old classic go spend less money and buy one used.
Chris Mortlock It has nothing to do with the inability to handle change. The "Les Paul Classic", from the time production of the model began in 1992, was made to be a re-issue of the 1960 Les Paul Standard, arguably the best and most sought after year of production by Les Paul collectors. Innovation is a good thing, I just think they should have called it something other than a "Les Paul Classic", when the newest version is anything but a classic.
Happy New Year Everyone!! Hope you have a great time tonight. See you next year!
And you!
Same to you Mr Anderton, all the best for you and your family!

This thing plays like butter too!
Chappers playing the Darkness, now that is just pure awesome right there!
Best guitar channel on UA-cam, HANDS DOWN!!!
Thanks dude, I appreciate that ;-)
+Bruce Bachand Most Definitely!
+Rob Chapman Keep Making The Guitar Channels & Do What You Do & Make it to the top and never stop!

Grettings from Ecuador!!!
Rob and captian!
Keep on rockin'
I spend entirely too much time on your channel!! Thank you for the great reviews and demos!! Cheers from Prince Edward Island, Canada!!

Rob has that magic touch or the way he has the amp setting set which always make any guitar that he plays sound brilliant.

loved the darkness riff at the beginning :p big fan of the gibson cherry finishes! happy new year guys!

Luc Fontaine just picked one up today for 400! I absolutely love the tone from this guitar!
Holy crap! $325? That's the deal of a lifetime right there. It's hard to find the Gibson LPJs for less than $600 now.
Looking forward to the review of the studio, seems like Gibson are putting out some great guitars in 2014 :)
I've had a chocolate satin 2013 lpj for almost four years and I love it. It was my first "expensive" guitar ever (where I live even this guitar is pretty g-damn expensive).
First Chappers and the Captain video I ever saw... been watching for the last year and a half as I learn guitar :) Love ya guys
ah last video of the year...always fun to watch ...keep up the good work, and happy new year
One of your best jams to date in my opinion
Yeah! Happy new year Anderton's guys! Greetings from Brazil!
Chappers, that guitar suits you. You must definitely buy!
No room in my flat for another wooden toy… ;-)
Rob Chapman I'm sure you could justify it. I mean, women somehow justify buying 349,385,295 pairs of shoes.
the outtro music was so good it made me shiver :) chapper's voice :D

Dang, was hoping I could say first... Well a very happy new year to the Chappers and the Captain.
Happy new year dudes! So excited for the Gibson Les Paul studio PRO video!
I watched the video twice just to hear that awesome jam!
Thank you sir ;-)
Great reviews, I'm looking forward to the next one. I think this is the best year gibson have had for a long time.
Glad to see the Blackstar Series one 45 getting some action!
Already have the 2013 LPJ and to all the naysayers go and try one. They are surprisingly full of awesomeness. More than any video can do justice.
This one is definately on my list for 2014. Great Review as always !!
ooh man, gasoline, i haven't heard that song in years. awesome riff.
I'm not a fan of the short scale on Gibsons but I have to say that I like the LPJ, especially those dark brown finishes. Sounds great!
Thanks for doing real world reviews, guys. It's much appreciated. If I lived in the UK, you'd have my business for sure!
Cannot wait till you guys unbox my collectors choice 11 for me!! Happy new year guys!!
I want the old single P90 Les Paul Junior...
Excellent playing lads. I can tell you really like these guitars. Great entertainment as usual, so many thanks. You are to guitars, what top gear is to cars. Excellent! All the best for the new year.
Got mine today! Fireburst Satin, its awesome! Sounds, looks and plays like the $2k models for 1/4 of the price
how much did it relic after 6 years?
I love your reviews/demos
Dat crunch tone at the start, HNNNNGGG

Isnt the 2013 better than the 2014 becausen of the pickups they swapped to 61 zebra in 2014 ??
@@Driven2Beats Depends I guess. The 2013 came with the 490's with black plastic covers that looked cheap. I got rid of them with a quickness. But I'm sure some folks liked them. My Pro came with the push/pull circuit board.
1 million bonus points for Love on the Rocks!!!!
Finally, a video for 2014
yes rob! playing the darkness!
Great reviews on the new Les Pauls. I'm looking forward to the review of the Studio.
Seeing Rob playing Audioslave on the 2014 version of my guitar... wow :)
Man i have one of these guitars and i actually favour it over most of my other highend gibsons....weird i know. By the way rob and el captain do probably the best videos on youtube...always a good watch to pass the day at work
Interesting changes to LPJ...when they came out, I didn't envision them hanging around.
Can't wait for the review of the SGJ, it looks awesome!

I own a 2014 Lpj and I love it
The guitar Lee's holding looks like one of my fishing lures. That said, I still want to try out these 2014 LP's. I'm pretty impressed with my 60's tribute.

ITS A LES PAUL LEE!
this lespaul was best bang for my buck ever, a 2013 desert burst lpj well under 1000 for an american made Gibson, is crazy, also why it was only around for 1 year
I want one purely because of the inlay... quite a milestone for my favorite guitar

looks like les paul studio :OO
you are so damn good that you need to spawn a cartoon animated series out of it!!

that gibson lee's playing . look hot as hell , kinda different looking burst
I just wish you would load up all the new Gibson vids so I can watch them back to back... :(
I'm excited for the Classic review. Best looking of the bunch, and under 2K.

So your issue is with the name? That seems pretty minor to me, a good guitar is more than just a name.
Steven Chabot No, my issue is it is no longer a Les Paul Classic.
I much prefer the look of these LPJs than the previous ones that looked like they had EMG pickups
Would love too see the Les paul traditional compared with the 2013 model!
