@@ashbyman yes there is. Gregorian dates (decades, centuries, start at 1 not year "zero"). When we say "The Fifities" were talking about 5x but 1st Century is 1-100 because start at 1.
Excavators and concrete mixers should have been just a counter of some sort, and white and brown numbered tokens to put in the wheel instead of the fiddly wooden bits. The end game scoring tiles are also described terribly. The last game I played, noone could figure out what the scoring was supposed to be. It's a shame, the game was spruked to be of the highest quality, and then you end up with costume jewelry, thin cardboard and a bad rulebook that doesn't even include printed solo rules.
Excellent job Paul, thank you. I watched this after trying to play from zero knowledge from the rule book and found it hard to get a feel for how the game works. After round 1 we had 0 energy and thought we must have done something wrong.
Great, balanced review. It looks interesting and I and curious to see what the 3D board looks like. And now I know what the wheel is all about. Cheers!
Excellent video and review. I wish I could say you have helped with my fears, but it is what it is. I hope Cranio will listen to logic and replace the water tokens, fix the rulebooks and even offer an alternative to the wheels. I saw some one suggesting a simple rectangular board where you simply move your excavators one step down until they move off of it. Simple and not fiddly.
@wheel. The disc/ wheel mechanism is fancy looking. But for practical retail I would have used one carton disc, like Macau / ponzi scheme, eventually put the separation on top of it. So instead of turning the wheel you turn the whole disc. I made my custom wheel in that way.
Back when you announced you got Barrage at Origins I thought they had sponsored an official rules video from you :( I am still happy you reviewed it but yeah, was counting on you to teach me as I am getting it next week!
Thanks for this, Paul... This was one of my key KS games last year (one I was really looking forward to), and although I'm still keen to play it and get my own copy, the KS and production issues have put a bit of a damper on it even before I've received the final product. Good to hear you were at ManorCon (I'm hoping to make it next year!), and hopefully will catch you at MidCon or Protospiell Notts in November. Take care.
This KS project is getting a lot of hate. I haven't seen anything disappointing yet. Nothing in this review alarms me, the game looks fun, the components look fine. I get the water issue, but they are fixing it. So far, so good. Thanks for the info - new sub here. :D
Great video. Thanks. Any idea if these issues are fixed in retail version ? Specially clarification in rulebook. Non clear rulebooks are the worst :-) Thanks for great vid.
Excellent video, so great. Thanks so much. Does anybody know how bonuses on the Company board work? For example when u unlock number 3 Powerhouse and u have for example Germans, French and American whit their special powers. Does this mean that all these nations have now doubled their specialty? And how do these bonuses work do we get them all when we produce energy or just the last one?
I don’t mind bit of competition but How cutthroat is this game? Can you avoid confrontation n do your own thing? Or you need to slap someone face /take that once in awhile kinda
The game CAN be cutthroat, but I think generally you want to make the best move for YOU. However, that is likely to mess up someone elses plan if they were planning to build in that location. Because you can use other people's conduits, if you have the dam, but can't afford the conduit, but then I build the conduit, it actually works for both of us.
@@GamingRulesVideos I've heard the edges of the board are raw, exposed cardboard (the paper from the front does not wrap over the edge), and some are concerned about them fraying/separating over time (as chits tend to do).
@@briang9633 and also imagine if a drink was spilled how much that cardboard would absorb the fluid! I've sealed all my edges on most of the boards before playing.
The one sentence about the rulebook (could done with more work) describes this Kickstarter as a whole!
"a game set in the 1930s, I think 1922 specifically"... :)
Hard to watch more after that.
A decade start on 1 and end over 10. So 30's start at 21 and ends at 30.
@@renatowenzel954 No mate the 1930s start in 1930, hence the name "1930s". Not a lot of room for debate there I feel.

But I know, in many countries education sucks and a lot of people don't know this basic History concept
The wheel! Yes your are right! I truly watched it to see the wheel!
Thank you Paul for the good rules review as always, your work is consistent and reliable.
A Online thanks!
Really fair review Paul. Great job!
My copy arrived the other day.
A heck of a lot of content.
3 big boxes full.
Keep up the good work pal.
Thanks. Have fun!

A box that fits the game board pieces while they flat will also be nice.
You covered a lot of aspects. Thanks a bunch for that and for your opinions.
Great review, thanks Paul.

You can also add the automa to a 2 player game if you want.

Not sure if you've seen the unboxing videos and pictures from backers, but the wheels are absolutely crap among a myriad of other issues.
Thanks for the review. Is the review for the expansion up somewhere already?
The only good for me to say is, that the gameplay is nice. That's why I backed it!
"Steampunky dystopian concrete mixers"
Nice height of water disk plan!
Great review, thanks.

I think they fixed the rulebook and the gears. Not 100% sure.
Is there any water iconography on the board that matches the water drops given?

You only unlock that bonus once you build your 3rd powerhouse. You don't have the bonus at the start of the game (common rules mistake)

Did you ever get to play with the Leeghwater expansion?
I did not, and... this has now gone to a game I think I will never play again. It's good, but I just can't play very well.

What did you think of the unwrapped edges of the board? No big deal or makes it look cheap?

I saw a wheel in the thumbnail in my subscription feed, otherwise I probably wouldn't have watched. Not good to hear that the wheel is too fiddly!
The type is too much brown on tan on brown on black.
Do you smoke Paul?
