- The Joe Rogan Experience is a mildly popular podcast. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are mildly popular politicians running for the office of President of the United States. But when one puts conditions on meeting with the other, how is that reported? And why is it important?
We're diving into the deep end just four days before election day...with Hang-Outs and Headlines.

NOTE: Some of you have noticed that I butcher the pronunciation of Kamala here (as I have unfortunately done to so many others). I "learned" to pronounce the name primarily from Avengers video games featuring Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan). Certainly no offense intended, my apologies.
Thank you. You are such an inspiration to not give up pushing to regain skills post stroke. Both of my strokes were smaller than yours, but the losses were challenging, and coming back is frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. You are such an amazing example of hard work paying off.
Oh thank you so much!
Here for the watching and listening. Replay crew! Always great to hear Hoeg Law's commentary and thoughts! Thanks!
Much appreciated!
HOEG I hope you’re feeling better! Watching on replay and wishing you improved health asap! Keep up the great content. Love all your work in this “industry” 😁
Thank you!
Sorry I missed this live but this was an excellent episode! Feel better soon.
Great discussion @HoegLaw! Legacy media has lost their monopoly on news and reporting of current issues. The internet has provided people more varied sources and platforms for discussion.
Wow!! haven't seen a video pop up from you in a while. Glad you look back to normal and are doing well!!
Welcome back!

I always love H&H.
Standing in line for early voting listening to hoeg talk about politics scary
It's understandable that Harris wasn't willing to take the time to go on Rogan's show - she seems to have a _very_ packed schedule, so not being willing to take a significant chunk out of a day to appear on his podcast is fair enough - she'd likely need to push back some other activity that's already been organised. And Trump, in my opinion, made a mistake in going on Rogan's podcast and leaving his supporters unexpectedly waiting for something like three hours for his late appearance at a scheduled rally; it doesn't necessarily help him that his interview has been described as "boring", either.
Hi Hoeg! I always appreciate your analysis, and this topic is no different. I have some feedback about the moving chyron at the bottom of the screen. My flavour of neurospiciness means that I can’t focus on listening to what you’re saying because of the scrolling text. I’ve had to switch to listening without watching, but I do like to read to the article text along with you, so I would rather be able to fully watch your videos again. Perhaps you could replace the chyron with a static label? Many thanks for your consideration!
Thanks for letting me know! I will see what I can do.
Also #shrimpfriedrice💜 nice to see you again.
55:00 Sadly I don't think Kunitsu has a chance for anything other than artstyle, and I think it won't take even that. It's an amazing game and one of my favorite this year, but it didn't made the ripples it needs to win a contest like TGA.
Don't mind me, I'm just here for the News Radio shout out.
That's where I primarily know him from!
@@HoegLaw Yep, me too, just finished a rewatch not too long ago.
Rogan was trying to schedule it while Harris was already in Texas(Houston 45 minute flight). Watching all of you with tech on streams & recordings- I can only imagine what traveling to do a podcast would look like. If one thing went wrong, some would accuse Rogan of it being on purpose. Staying in his town with a non mobile setup makes sense to me.
If Joe went to Harris and it be the only interview where he left his studio, it would come across as stronger support for Harris
That’s a really good point. Something of a rock and a hard place for him.

1:13:24 something that I've not heard thus far is that Joe may not want to be seen as partisan by making concessions to one candidate over another. If he changes his show format for one candidate, it could be perceived as favoring that candidate or the other. Joe seems to try to differentiate between his personal opinions and the ideas he discusses, and changing the format for one particular person could change that perception ppl have of him.
PS hope you feel better soon!

One big thing no one is mentioning about going to the JRE podcast is the logistics. A 3-hour podcast would likely take a day to set up and finish, whereas a 1-hour podcast would likely be closer to half a day. That's a big difference and a lot of investment so close to the election day. If you think you can change minds, then go ahead and go on. But without that, you shouldn't.
1/1000th!
I don't like Joe Rogan and really don't like the amount of influence he is but this is a disingenuous nothing burger by the press. Harris' campaign weighed the electoral calculus and decided that sitting with Rogan (whose audience is overwhelmingly hostile to her) only made sense over doing other things under the conditions they gave. Time will tell if they made the right decision, but they nonetheless made it. It appears Rogan is being very reasonable about it.
As for Bezos, that's just disingenuous BS. The Post did several Presidential endorsements under his tenure but suddenly after Trump has name-dropped Amazon as one of the tech companies he will go after if elected, suddenly it's not appropriate? Get real. When you employ people like Taylor Lorenz, you are in no position to criticize the journalistic integrity of others.

Oh, yeah!!!
If you want to go on the Joe Rogan Podcast, you can't ask to make it the Kamala Harris podcast. That's just not how this works. She wasn't willing to do the podcast, but Trump and Vance were. It's not the end of the world, but for anyone to frame it as Joe being biased is just ridiculous.
Hi!
The biggest reason people mistrust the media is when they try to "both sides" an issue that has clear sides to it. That is out of step with reality, "keeping an open mind to the point it falls out." They look at an issue like "distrust in the media" and don't point out how the right has actively assaulted the media at every turn, including those at the very top. I think it would be completely reasonable for the Post to not do an endorsement, but that decision should have been made months ago, ideally a year ago. Doing it right now, when the actual Washington Post was actually writing an actual endorsement, it's just a nonsense excuse to not upset children.
Rogan does what he does great. That is why he has so many followers
Seeing how many rallies Harris had, up on the fact that she is still the active vice-president. I just think they could not find a free spot in her agenda. I mean Harris went on an interview on Fox. Rogan is a hard but honest interviewer. Don't think she would have a problem there. And I just cant watch his interview with Trump. I have watched it in parts. Somehow both men have the ability to trigger me. I am not from the US, so I am just watching out of interest, and the fact that what ever America decides, will have a big impact on us here in Europe. But Trump triggers me the moment he opens his mouth. I only see a Bully. Just my opinion!
Sorry Mr.Bezos, but I have more journalistic training than people like some of your sm "reporters".
I don't like Joe, and even I'm not voting for anyone in the future who refuses to go on his show, on his terms. Fantastic conversations. Eye opening.
I think Rogan mainly allowed Trump to lie to his viewers because Rogan believes in promoting those same lies, rather than just out of deference to Trump. I think that a Rogan/Harris interview might be interesting, but it would likely be a mess of him bringing up nonsense and her having to explain why that's nonsense, and then him going "well I don't know about that," and the audience learning nothing.
I do at least agree that it would be catastrophic for Joe Rogan to have an interview that "was kinda weird," because he was "off his game," far more so than for a presidential candidate to disrupt their camping in the last few days. This election will be over next week, but Joe Rogan is an essential service and it's vital to America that nothing disrupt him. Probably.
Replay crew here. Here’s my ad hominem attack: it drives me crazy when people mispronounce Kamala Harris’ name. It’s COMma-la, emphasis on the first syllable, not ca-MAH-la. Just remember the tee-shirt slogan: “,la”.
Or just call her Harris, like you call him Trump.
That's my fault. I "learned" to pronounce Kamala from appearances of Ms. Marvel "Kamala Khan" in video games. My apologies.
@ still love you!
