  • Colorful fall arrived so i went to the woods to do a little jam in the open air. Just an iPad, an Akai LPD8 and nature all around. Enjoy!
    More info below:
    Apps in use:
    Elastic Drums, Xynthesizr, Moog Animoog, Moog Model15, Arturia iSEM, iGrand Piano, Eos 2, MoebiusFX, AUM)
    All drumsounds in Elastic Drums (besides the kick) were designed with the recent Futuristic Synths IAP. Mangling and FX on the drums are all internal fx of Elastic Drums, some of them mapped to the pads of the external midi controller.
    Get Elastic Drums here:
    itunes.apple.c...
    All synth pads (Model15, Animoog) are sequenced by Xynthesizr in the background, also the piano (iGrand Piano) and the arpeggio (iSEM). Volume and filter cutoff are also controlled with the midi controller.

    You made my day with this brilliant piece! Such a simple set up you have an iPad and a MIDI controller.
    You do more with that then most can get out of enormous modular systems lol. Great Job Again Mate!
    Cheers

    Love the grittiness of that main synth arp. It reminded me of Autechre's sound a bit from 'Arch Carrier'. The piano outro even better! It's always an inspiration to hear your music. I wish you did a series of elastic drum tutorials lol. High Five!!

    • @PerplexOn
      @PerplexOn  6 років тому

      tonematrix long time no see! :) Thanks a lot for watching! It's always a pleasure to hear from you! I wasn't aware of this Autechre song, not even very familiar with their work, absolutely have to change this! Regarding Elastic Drums: It's actually rather simple to use imho, basically similar to other already known electronic drum machine metaphors, but with the twist that both the synth engines as well as the inbuilt fx are pretty flexible. I'm leaving tutorials to more advanced people that can better explain than me :)

    • @tonematrix
      @tonematrix 6 років тому

      Oh I think you might enjoy Autechre. They have some interesting textures in their tracks. No worries on the tuts, I just need to give it a go and figure out how to implement it with Ableton & my Scarlett easier. Now that I'm here replying, those opening pad sways have lured me in for yet another listen!

    Oli hat mich hierher geschickt durch eine pushup notification von elastic drums. klingt für mich ein bisschen nach Stranger things. Unglaublich, dass du das alles mit dem iPad zauberst. Frustrierend wird es dann, wenn man die gleichen Apps schon sein eigen nennen darf (außer Model 15 und xynthesizr) und man nicht ansatzweise etwas ähnliches auf die Beine gestellt bekommt. Ich wünsche mir mehr making of's und Einblicke hinter die Kulissen und tutorials, falls du das möchtest. Richtig, richtig geil! Weiter so!!!

    • @PerplexOn
      @PerplexOn  6 років тому

      Hans Werner 1000 Dank, freut mich sehr! Auch, dass du den Umweg über die app auf dich genommen hast :) Bezüglich des "Zustandebringens" würd ich mir keine Gedanken machen. Tatsächlich ist 90% meines musikalischen Schaffens auch nur rumprobieren und testen und anschließend aus meiner Sicht geeignete Apps zusammenschalten. Erst war da die Flächenchords in Xynthesizer, die dann gleichzeitig noch Pads in Animoog, Model15 und iSEM über Midi triggern, dann hört sich das schon viel fetter an als mit nur einem Klangerzeuger. Dann kamen die Drumsounds dazu, die auch einfach durch herumspielen mit dem neuen Synth Paket entstanden sind. Das sieht zwar am Ende im Video keiner, aber da ist auch immer ziemlich viel Vorbereitungszeit drin für das Erstellen der groben Songskizzen und Sounds. Also alles nur eine Frage von Zeit und Rumprobieren :)

    a great piece of electronic music, one of the best i've ever heard ! you're using these objects with a lot of creativity
    question : do you use internal presets in each app? (sounds or patterns)

    • @PerplexOn
      @PerplexOn  6 років тому

      that's a huge honor, thank you so much! :D Most of the time i start with a preset and start to modify it to my taste. In case of elastic drums there is an IAP called Futuristic Synths which builds the base for the drums. Hope this helps, all the best!

      thanks a million! So glad to hear that! I‘m doing all the video work, too 😊 This was filmed on an Olympus OMD E-M10, most of the time with the Panasonic 50mm 1.4. Some shots were done with a borrowed gimbal (crane2), but most of it was shot handheld. Hope this helps, feel free to ask more if needed! Best!

    • @PerplexOn
      @PerplexOn  6 років тому

      thanks a lot! Well my ipad pro 9.7 has 2GB as well and it's enough for most circumstances. Sure, more never hurts but unless you have 20 apps running at the same time it's working okay.

    Fantastic! How do like the lpd8 compared to the Korg nano stuff?

    • @PerplexOn
      @PerplexOn  6 років тому +1

      antkn33 thanks a lot! Personally i think the akai stuff is a bit sturdier and the haptic feeling is better. On the other hand i also have the nanopad and nanokontrol, which offer more pads or knobs/faders and the x-y-touchpad works nice for some circumstances 😄 So it‘s hard to find a clear winner 😀
