Thanks for sharing your method. I wonder if this all could be more practical for me. I don't use PC much, just on weekends. So, I can't log time with Obsidian. I guess the best way for me is to use a separate system altogether. What do you think? Thanks again. You are very inspiring 😊
Oh, thank you! I really appreciate that. Happy to be able to find people who are interested in the some of the same things as me, and grateful that I can share what I know! :)
Yay! Hope you liked it! Getting that engine going is a lifesaver during busy periods. I'm trying to get everything set up before everyone gets back to work and I get overloaded again, heh.
I was a physical bullet journaller for years. :) I didn't want to mention BuJo because I only do a small part of it now, but yes, the rapid logging part on a daily note is something I took from bullet journalling. I'm sure that was part of the inspiration for this theme (and themes like it) as well!
I really like how you handle your log and use the different icons. I use a regular to-do list and struggle with what to do when the task isn't something that can just be ticked.
IKR! I used to keep a physical bullet journal, and this really reminds me of that. But better, because it's digital and searchable and templatable and all the things!
I'm a huge Nicole fan!!! I love how you communicate otherwise tedious things in a charismatic, humble, adorable, and somehow also utilitarian way, THANK YOU! The PKM community is lucky to have you!!!
I was literally just wondering if there were more symbols available for checklists and had no idea this was possible with Minimal theme. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Nicole, thank you for sharing this great workflow! I always knew that periodic notes was something that I wanted to do, but I didn't know how to approach it until now.
Very informative, thanks for the great content! I'm still starting to set up my Obsidian and finding out what works for me, but I love how your approach looks complex at first but after a second thought is simple enough that it wouldn't be a big effort to keep up with.
Glad you like it! Yeah, it does seem like a lot when you look at it all, but really, I have a lot of it automated with templates, so all I really have to worry about is logging things on the daily note. Then everything else is a review!
Hi Nicole. Thank you for all the great videos. At about the 3:50 mark you tap something (your template says CMD + ') to create a new note and it auto links to that note and opens it in an adjacent pane. I can't figure how you're doing this or what video you have that covers it. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. (I know I can double bracket and then CMD click, and then insert template, but your method seems so much faster.) 😄
Hey! Yeah, the CMD + ' is the hotkey I've assigned to a specific command that I created using QuickAdd. Here's a video I created on QuickAdd: ua-cam.com/video/LrQVQ37y6IU/v-deo.html
Thank you for this Nicole! I’ve started using Obsidian and find your various videos super helpful! One thing I am wondering about are the dates the appear in the metadata of your notes. I seem to see it in multiple places and multiple dates in a single note. Is there a video you have already created about this aspect? I’m curious whether adding another date is something you do manually and also how those dates become useful to you, both in the mechanical aspect of the UI and in your flow.
Hi Gina! I add the dates semi-manually, in that I have a keyboard shortcut for them (using TextExpander/Espanso) and then have to type that shortcut into the field myself. I like to do that so that I can situate my notes chronologically over time. I like the thought that I can go to a specific date in time and see in the backlinks all the notes I created or edited on that day. Hope that helps! :)
Could you please share some practical examples using this workflow, such as, simulating typical scenarios you would encounter in everyday life, with some context that modified from real life (fake context of course)? There are some details that are unclear to me🙏
Another amazing video! I'm really intrigued by the bullet journal icons especially. I also have a similar issue where I can't seem to actually type anything into my checkbox. It just pushes my cursor right out of it. Weird!
HI Nicole , Your videos are as useful as always . But i have a question if the task is half finished [/] it is not appearing in the checklist plugin in the right pane . How do we filter those items which are half completed or postponed .
Hi, recently I started to play by weekly Catan with another 3 friends. I like to play D&D but I have like 20 year of the last time I played. Where can I start?
I really need to restart working this way. I used to, 30 years ago, but need to start again at principles. Do you have any recommendations on 'how' to create core principles. I have in the past used 7 Habits thinking to creat Values, I'm wondering if that's similar or would work.
That's great that you want to get back to defining your principles. I think my biggest recommendation would be not to overthink it-- you can always change your principles, or add to them, as you go (I know I do). I think that if something resonates with you, it's probably worth writing down. If that's the 7 habits or similar for you, I think that's valid! :)
@@nicolevdh Nice! Your videos are very insightful, my note taking system is always growing and getting better due videos like this one here. Greetings from Brazil!

@@nicolevdh I am! not sure why it's not working. Everything I do just puts a check mark inside. I'm sure it's user error haha. By the way, I'm so impressed with your Portuguese. I'm from Lisbon, and live in the US now. Portuguese is not an easy language to learn :)
@@nicolevdh Great work, Nicole. Rapid logging reminds me of the bullet journaling approach! Didn't think I could use a theme for that. Awesome!
Agreed. I would imagine it's based on bullet journaling or something similar.

I figured it out if anybody else has the same issue. In Outliner, you need to set the "Stick the cursor to the content" option off.
